it's been a year since i finished it but she thinks he goes back to being evil demon lord to wipe out everything, but he doesn't, it was just a ruse to trick others. He sacrifices himself to bring peace and harmony to all the lands basically (because he loves her and knows that is what she wants). She settles down and has his child in the normal mortal word to live a peaceful existence and he shows back up after some random townsman is harassing her to marry him and they live happily ever after.
I have a question does anyone know why youku releases all the big dramas???
I think they are just having a good year / season? There is three main big web streaming platforms that the high production shows come out on - Tencent (WeTV), Iqiyi and Youku. ( will not count Mango TV because.... we all know)
Tencent has the longest promise to look forward to (and Immortality if it ever is allowed to air) and iqiyi consistently releases dramas all the time.
I don't know much about chinese tv, so maybe someone else knows more.
is someone going to eventually get rid of the part 1 / part 2 nonsense? it's not split anymore, right?
i always thought it was really dumb that it was split in mydramalist to begin with, as shows were just labeled that to get around the restrictions. It's way more organized when it is lumped as one page. (It's way harder to keep track of what episode you are on)
Hi! The novel is very very angsty. Basically the fl travels back in time and becomes the ml's bethroed. While…
yeah it isn't "modern girl travel back in time" - she is a cultivator where her clan got wiped out by a super powerful demon lord...so she is sent back to kill him
the first half is more of a mortal world politics genre, where the second half is much more immortal xianxia focused
i've never seen Scarlet Heart Ryeo but this sounds nothing like it at all
For those who are also watching Royal rumors, can you tell me if ROTF has more actions and more developped stories?…
yeah i'm watching and enjoying both. Royal rumors has amazing costumes but this seems to be going towards a more wacky humor / squabbling route (which is kinda disappointing having read the book - her character is completely different? so far). But ROTF is not boring at all and now that I started I don't want to stop...
Watch both if you have time! You don't have to finish every drama you start is my motto hahah
Someone who read the novel, will Nie SangYu end up with Ning Xuyuan?
I’m honestly confused at this part since the novel is a transmigration/ dream where nie sangyu is already dead and ji man winds up with Ningxuyuan in the end
More like “I can’t believe I have to deal with this” - the female lead is very mature and smart and doesn’t give her heart away for a long time, but winds up emotionally merging with the previous inhabitant of the body so kinda?
do you know if there is a divorce in the novel? or sepaation after they falls in love?
Yeah there is a divorce and separation and lots of fighting - it’s not a fluffy romance by any stretch of the imagination- like he has an actual harem
He is kinda a man hoe (impregnates several women while also married to her) and she has to grapple with that - I’m curious how much they will change to appeal to TV audiences
how is it queer baiting when it's based on a BL novel ? queer baiting is when it's "would they or wouldn't they"…
That basically means that the censorship wins.
I'd rather see a production company try to squeeze in as much as they can get away with than not make any BL shows or dramas at all. It also can have the effect of "normalizing" bromance and the boundary of what's acceptable can increase slowly over time. I know for example, they supposedly banned time travel, cleavage, effeminate men awhile ago etc etc but I see all those things constantly now in dramas.
And you don't know that they will never see the light of day - there is a huge audience for them, and god knows the entertainment industry loves money, so they'll probably continue to drip out and push boundaries as much as they can. They won't run out of danmei books to adapt, they can always remake them later if the ban completely disappears. Plus there is a nice feedback loop where upcoming actors know a way to get popularity / fame is by starring in a BL production, and that's a good thing for the genre!
And dramas, aired or not, will increase the audience of a beloved book - I had no idea about danmei before I watch the Untamed randomly, and then I found out about all the wonderful books out there.
And what else are we going to watch? Japanese BLs rarely kiss anyway, and I don't see another country making long, epic, intelligent (especially historical) "bromance" dramas.
I have a question. What was written in the label Zhou Hong Chaun gave that box in which something of Pei Shu was…
I’m not sure what part you are referring to - but a good trick is to watch shows in chrome and use google lens to search the image - it is pretty good at capturing Chinese and will translate it

Leon Zhang's character is becoming one of my all time favorites, he is such a lying thief but so charming...
the first half is more of a mortal world politics genre, where the second half is much more immortal xianxia focused
i've never seen Scarlet Heart Ryeo but this sounds nothing like it at all
and while it is angsty, the book does have a HE
i want to watch them all as well, but I'm trying to balance reading at the same time...maybe sleep less hahaha
Watch both if you have time! You don't have to finish every drama you start is my motto hahah
No clue what’s going on with the twin thing
It seems like it is heading towards a happy ending - novel is good though! I encourage people to read it!

it's so freaking good
please please be a good ending, it's all i ask...
now that i'm back - god it's really entertaining and good - enjoying it way more than Ashes of Love
