TBH, I don’t think he will make a good ruler because he’s already shown his true colors the way he was scheming to regain FL’s affection. He treated her as an object like all the other selfish, obsessive SMLs. Only seek to possess, control, not really caring for FL’s feelings or happiness. If he could treat someone he supposedly care about this way, he would not consider the well being of others. Case in point, he didn’t defend his guards when Prince Li executed them. It’s more important for him to gain sympathy in the eyes of the FL and public.

And what luck CP had to be married to the prime ministers daughter. 🤔 He’s possessive of FL, yet he cared more about getting her attention and affection than actually caring about her. The fact that he asked her if she had read the novels he sent her while her hand was still dripping blood from saving him. Only Jin An noticed and took her away to treat her.
