Justice apparently is not the main theme of this drama. Should be called how to get away with murders under the incompetent and horny emperor’s reign. He only punished those who fought for justice and rights of the victims.

Isn’t right chancellor related to Consort Shu? They have the same last name. The emperor never punished anyone except FL. In the maids case, ML gave the list of wrong doers which included his son and other high officials. The emperor didn’t punish anyone on that list. The maids had to resort to a suicide mission in order to punish them and make the truth public. To me emperor is the ultimate villain in this drama. His own behaviors, snooking any women he took a fancy to when he had so many consorts and concubines. And allowing his officials to get away with any crimes.

Yes they knew, when they first met XUE, Yu Wan Ying/FL said her name is Ma Chuan Chuan (not exactly sure the spelling) and she supposedly got transmigrated into the novel she read. Basically, the novel that Emperor/ML and FL read was about a girl who transmigrated into a novel she read. That’s why she’s a paper character.
