We don't know if he keeps doing staying away from him because we have not seen it. He just got informed about that in 4th episode. He is just going back to the past again now, so we don't know what he will do.

While I agree that killing off Don was a bad choice this moaning fest over the second couple is increasingly tiresome. Their story was not better written at all.

Their progression from FWB to eternal love was rushed, underdeveloped and highly unconvincing. In one moment they are fuck buddies, Pond is tongue-in-cheek while Don seems indifferent and then after just one day of an excursion with a 180 degree turn we are expected to believe it is a deep love. Pond begins to act like a disgruntled wife all of a sudden and outs their relationship despite their mutual agreement while Don's reasoning for keeping two of them in the dark is ridiculous.

Those telling the second couple carried this show only say that because they certainly look good together and they had spicy and smutty NC scenes. Massive hypocrisy and once again a very good demonstration of BL fandom shallowness.
