I believe it's still up in the air. I read that the writers are definitely interested. I think there were some issues regarding adaptations that were made for this initial season which strayed from the original webtoon. I'm still unclear why it might pose a problem for getting another season out, but that's what I gathered from the article.
It seemed to me that as the show went on she really lightened up and it became more of a fun or joking kind of…
I understand what you're saying; however, I personally knew a man who was abused by his "tiny" wife. He was 6' 4", & if she was anything over 5' 4" I would've been surprised. Being a victim of repeated abuse is just as much of a psyche thing as it is a physical thing, if not more. That being said, I admit that's not the relationship this show was portraying. I just believe it's a poor defense against those who don't take a male being abused by a female as seriously.
Yes, Dan Ah had been tested HARD as a female delivery person. Given what the show insinuated, she found herself in situations that demanded she protect herself. However, while Kang Soo verbally sparred with her, he wasn't aggressive, yet she was physically aggressive towards him from pretty much jump.
I still assert that if the roles had been reversed; if a male deliveryman had experienced every abuse, harassment, & injustice as had been done to Dan Ah, & HE reacted in the same way as she did (physically defensive & aggressive), but towards a female, it would definitely be deemed inappropriate by the court of public opinion. I don't believe people would be more apt to see him as "merely feisty" rather than "violent."
I'm enjoying this drama for the most part (Ep. 9); however, unless it's one's kink (no shame), I honestly don't understand what's so endearing about a partner (Dan Ah, in this case) who consistently insults, but even more worrying, physically aggresses against others (primarily Kang Soo).
I realize she's supposed to be street savvy to a degree; tough, disillusioned with her home country, financially struggling, etc. I've seen such characters better portrayed, such as with Kim Yoo Jung's character, Jung Saet Byul, in "Backstreet Rookie." Hmm...it's been a few months since I've watched it, tho. lol I wonder if I'm being caught out as a hypocrite?
I understand if people who read this are like, "It's a Kdrama. It's not that deep, Mary." Still, would viewers overlook a ML treating a FL the same way; twisted wrists, kicked, thrown to the ground, pushed down stairs..? Given our current culture's sensitivity towards the treatment of women, I think not.
For the genre, I believe they did an excellent job! In my opinion, there were very few "secondary" characters. Rather than just the two "main" characters, there were, what...over half a dozen characters that were developed well enough for me to actually care about. Look, was this a masterpiece comparable to, let's say, The King & the Clown? No, but that's just it...they aren't comparable; however, what they did with this was done very well!
Does Eugene remind anybody else of actress Shin Dong Mi (recent dramas include "Hi/Bye, Mama," "Fine Me in Your Memory," "The Good Detective," "Record of Youth")? I hope I'm connecting the two over more than just a bobbed hairstyle! Their resemblance strikes me with every episode of Penthouse so far, & I just can't shake it. Tbh, I fully expected to learn they were sisters or cousins, but I haven't found that to be the case. Anybody else? Anybody?? ;)
It says the reason was to ensure better production
Hi! Would you mind sharing where your source? I'd definitely appreciate it! Two of the dramas I'm watching didn't have episodes (even though the "slots" for the episodes were dated for this week), & I didn't know if it was a streaming site issue, a holiday, etc.
Dis-a-PPOINTED! I really liked the story & the characters, too! Grrrrrrr! I just do NOT appreciate dramas that end in such a way, & they seem to be en trend, unfortunately. Oh, & there's no way to know (without spoilers of the ending, at least) unless one invests the time & watches the drama! Such endings leave me unsettled & unsatisfied. Sure, I can "imagine" an ending, & sometimes that approach works...but in a Romantic drama/RomCom??? No. Thank. You.
I had my complaints about this drama, but it's the first weekday since the end of the series &...wth am I going to watch while I drink my first (& sometimes second) cuppa coffee of the day now?
Although I don't totally get the ending...I mean, just trying to make it all fit sends my brain into a tizzy, I can't deny that I was invested, & enjoyed, this drama quite a lot. I looked forward to it every week. Say what you will about plot holes & other criticisms in regards to the story, I think the actors were actually pretty amazing in regards to their craft.
Yessss, justice finally came and it was a good feeling watching that Good wins over Evil. What a mess with Eun…
Did it seem to you that Kim Hye Jung (Suk Hwan's mother) felt great disappointment in her son when he admitted to her that he was underqualified for the job of Chairman? I hope I didn't imagine it because I thought it was a profound moment Yang Geum Suk, the actress, did incredibly well; subtle, but quite an intense moment, imo. Ahhh...I'm disappointed there isn't just one more episode to wrap it all up. One where everybody moves in with the dad...Mr. Choi & Oh Pil Jung's nurse friend hook up, etc. I would have enjoyed watching that.
Well everyone who gave them a hard time paid for it in the end. I'm glad Eun Jun went to jail and her nasty mother…
I couldn't have been more wrong, & I'm thrilled about that! ; ) You know, I actually liked Seok Hwan at the end there. How irritating, eh? lol It's been an interesting ride; one made more enjoyable by the comments section, for sure! Take care!
Mr. Ha! Or should it read "Mr. HAH!" Oh ho ho ho! Bring. It. ON! . . . :groans: However, seeing as how the writers have made their patterns all too clear these past ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY episodes, I feel I must prepare myself for at least one more torturous episode where the "bad guys" will zig 'n zag, serpentine, wag their fork-like tongues, & seem to perform amazing feats of prestidigitation as they, once again, place suspicion upon the innocents. Once again, everybody will be like, "Well, yeah! Of course it was them [the innocent]. That makes all kinds of sense!" Even the innocent will get close-ups of their perplexed faces as if to say, "Could it have been me??" Grrrrrrrrrr. I really hope I'm wrong.
I do believe we're in the same "*Sigh of relief*" camp! Honestly, I wish some brilliant person of Science could peek inside the folds of my brain, & explain to me why it is that I've hung in there with this drama! Is it a kind of one-off OCD? Poor taste?? Do I actually enjoy seething with contempt & frustration five days per week??? smh It's downright comical, at this point! The one, undeniable fact is that somehow, for some reason, against many of our better judgements even ; ), we got hooked! It's been a heckuva ride, but could somebody please tell the conductor that I'm ready to get off now? ;)
When are the men in Eun Jun family are going to put both mother and daughter in their place. The men are loving…
I'd love it if this was the beginning of all of the nasties finally getting their come-uppances, but I won't believe it until I see it. Too many dramas have led me to the altar on that one only to leave me high & dry with their "Get Out of Jail/Free" cards; most often granted by the very souls who were their primary targets for suffering. Still...I remain hopeful! ; )
Ep. 110 --The song playing in the restaurant (18:02), right before Seok Jun enters the scene, is "Kissing A Fool" by George Michael; one of my all-time favorite songs, not to mention severely underrated! However, I'm pretty sure it's a cover version, but a really good one. Does anybody know who the singer is?
Ooooo, that was tough to find... Really hit or miss from one episode to the next regarding the translations; especially for the episodes during the middle of the drama. A lot of times, they seemed nothing less than nonsensical. Although I found it late in the series MGTV Drama Channel on YouTube had very good Eng subs. You might want to check out the site "koreandrama.es," too. They are waaaayyyy lighter on the ads than a lot of other sites, such as KissAsian & DramaCool. Those two are on another level!
While enduring this continuous repetitive torture I sometimes think to myself that every problem in this show…
"...this continuous repetitive torture..." YESSS!!! I feel the same way! At one point (or maybe even a few points) the only characters I liked were Kim Bok Soon & the DOG! I was so confused about why I kept watching Every. Single. Day! But...around Ep. 20-ish, I had to admit that 1) there was something I really enjoyed about MHaA, or 2) I really enjoyed NOT enjoying it. Although neither option is what one would call a "good look," I've come to terms with it, put a halt to the introspection, & decided to just keep on truckin'!
