I’m really enjoying this. The visuals are spectacular. There’s not a thing that hasn’t been thought out for a maximum impact. I love the Tim Burton feel this has. And the FL who gives zero f*cks is refreshing to watch. There’s going to be a lot to unpack in this show, but I’m intrigued as to which way this will go.
Have you read other novels from the same author? I assume you know that she wrote The Founder of Diabolism (The Untamed). Her third novel is called The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System. I laughed a lot reading that one and you can find it here: https://www.novelupdates.com/series/the-scum-villains-self-saving-system/
I really really wish that they would make this with the love story included. Their relationship is so beautiful. What they had to go through to be together. How are they going to explain Hua Cheng stalking Xie Lian for 800 years? And everything he’s done for him. The love that kept his soul from dissipating, brought him back and made him into what he is? There’s also so much humor tied to them being a couple whether it’s their interactions or the reactions of others to them being together. Hua Cheng’s teasing. Xie Lian’s being shy is so cute. At least the donghua looks like it will be true to the book. I shall wait and see what the screenwriters manage to do. Fingers crossed!
I literally just finished it and it’s amazing! At times not an easy read, but the plot is great and I fell in love with the characters. Made me laugh out too. His Cheng is the best husband imho.
so... why didn't anyone bother to hand Lhong and the guys he hired over to the police? seemed to me like they…
I haven't read the books so I don't know if it's explained there, but I would think it might be Tar's decision not to report to the police as he wasn't ready to deal with what happened to him and relive the whole rape through police investigation. He went away to France to get away from that and in LBC he is still dealing with the aftermath trying to cope. I would assume that Type was just respecting Tar's decision. But those are just my assumptions, if anybody knows more, I'll be happy to hear that.
Someone on Twitter said: “With the number of dead fictional rainbow characters this decade, the Afterlife must be a pretty gay place.” I agree, writers please give us a break.
I was really shocked when I saw the spoilers and felt absolutely devastated. I’ve just finished watching and…
I've just finished it. Still crying and I think I will need an ice cream on top of that chocolate. That being said, I think Wayne Song acted the hell out of this episode. His pain felt so real and raw even after six years. There are things in life one doesn't just "get over". His feelings of being lost and unable to go on, to carry a burden this heavy...I can't even describe it. I would have preferred a happy ending (wouldn't we all?), but at least they didn't do a flashback of the actual accident or spend the majority of the episode on a recap of their relationship. And the second couple got their mini happy ending. The only thing I didn't get was the whole YXG look alike scenes. Like wtf was that? Other than make viewers confused as to whether YXG really died or to make XHT realize no one can replace YXG so he can hurt all over again, I really didn't see the point. When I was commenting on the previous episode, I had a little rant in regards Kdramas and the cliches of car accidents. I said I'm sure that MODS will treat us better. I didn't expect to be so wrong!
I came here to see if the episode was out and instead find this dumpster fire of an ending. Somebody please tell me to wake up because I’m having a nightmare. I‘m seriously scared to watch the finale now. Should I do it or not?
I really appreciate how the break up scene was written and acted out. Starting with Type saying “You won.” His whole demeanor, the kind of deadly calmness that comes when a person goes beyond rage, hurt, fear and other emotions and everything becomes clear. If he would have broken up with Tharn in a fit of jealous rage, I would have just dismissed him as someone who can’t grow. The fact that he saw through the set up and broke up with Tharn to protect himself made it much more impactful and him way smarter and mature than he seems to be. The Tar-Tharn scene annoyed the heck out of me though. Now just wait and see what twists and turns is Lhong going to take us through.
