It felt like watching two different dramas before and after he got his eyesight back. Both of the characters changed and not for better. So many things that they did was out of character for them. They way they set them up in the first half of the drama.
Anyway, I’m not gonna go into a long rant, but the end felt really anticlimactic and the second half was a let down.

One of my favorites would be Because This Is My First Life. The love the main couple shares grows through the moments of everyday life they share. They treat each other with respect and support each other.

Czech here born and bred. I saw the headline and did a double take thinking you can’t be possibly talking about the old school Czech drama from the 70’. Imagine my surprise when I found out you indeed did. Thank you so much for a great article with an in depth insight.
I would love to see a Japanese version of this drama and I can picture your casting choices playing the characters I know just fine. I guess I should go and give it a rewatch.

The plot was definitely different, the story was a bit all over the place for me, I guess it would benefit from a longer running time and more development, but I enjoyed it overall. Some parts made me chuckle (who doesn’t casually throw a coat on a ghost hiding in their closet?) and some parts made me go “Excuse me, right in front of my pizza?” I wouldn’t mind watching a sequel, because I would like to know what happened next.

I agree with you, that VP should have been prosecuted. The incident got reported somehow, because if there wasn’t anything going wrong, why would the company transfer him.
If all of this is an elaborate set up and the brothers won’t end up as a couple, the whole family will get some counseling or professional help and Yong Jie will face consequences for his actions, the VP will get his ass thrown in jail, then I will applaud the show creators for fooling me completely into hating this with passion and writing long ass comments about it. If what they are doing is calling things out and spreading awareness in the same brilliant way Lovely Writer is doing right now (eg. non consent, forceful kissing, lack of communication, toxic delulus etc.) and I just haven’t seen through it yet, then I will apologize and praise them forever. Otherwise this really will be one of the most problematic shows I’ve ever watched.

I’m so tired of non consent and rape being shown as romantic behavior that is okay and has no consequences for the perpetrator. The younger brother is obsessed. He has years of planning behind this. He stalks and checks on every aspect of his older brother’s life. He manifests violent hostile behavior when he thinks anyone is getting close to his brother. He purposefully styles his behavior in front of his father to get in his good graces. He is meticulous and the whole drunk sex is a premeditated rape. His brother was far beyond drunk to fully consent to anything, he even had to tell him who was it in the room with him. I don’t have issue with dramas portraying rape or non consent behavior, sadly they do happen in real life, but I have issues with drama that is trying to portray this kind of behavior as okay and excusable. If he had a sister and did all this to her, he would be the villain of the drama and we would have a heroic ML saving the girl in the last minute and everyone would be crying that the younger brother is a disgusting rapist, so what’s making this any different? When his brother is freaked out and blaming himself, he basically tells him he’s done it whether Xing Si likes it or not and it was his gift to himself. When Xing Si ignores him because he doesn’t know how to deal with all this, he goes on to manipulate him with a fake suicide photo.

Also watching someone squirm in a bathtub because he’s been drugged with who knows what and is desperately trying to get a relief might make me sympathetic but it’s definitely not hot or swoon worthy. And the other watching the whole thing is just straight up creepy.

I could just listen to Qing Ming calling Bo Ya all day long. He put so many emotions into that one name.

I can’t stop watching that ridiculously good looking teaser. It’s like a mini movie on it’s own. That is some serious action/thriller BL and I’m here for all of it.

No really any kisses or a real relationship to speak of. At one point it looks like they both like the girl.

Wtf did I just watch? I mean it had some funny moments, but other than that it was just one big wtf. Left me more confused than anything else and I’m usually pretty good at following even jumpy or not entirely sensible plots.

These are two that I enjoyed recently. Nothing too heavy.
