(episode 36)so you are telling me duke su can jump with furong like 10 meters up to put a lantern on the highest…
there's also a scene where XJ runs across the water to save one of the princesses who tried to commit suicide . . . but somehow when FR jumps onto the ship (?) to escape from him, and is barely a foot away, XJ is unable to catch her lol
Just watched the modern episodes. Qiao Yi Rong >>>>>>> Fu Rong lol.
But what really bothers me is that in the first scene showing XJ waiting, he's more or less the same age as he was at the end of episode 40. So basically FR dies super young, practically right after their so called happy ending? Forcing XJ to wait 1000 years? WTF?
Tbh, it really seemed like FR only chose to die with XJ out of guilt. E.g. she thought about how even right before his death, he was thinking about her, and then she says out loud that he did so much for her, and accompanying him is the only thing she can do for him now. All that language just points to her feeling guilty over how dedicated he was to her. She took him for granted when he was alive and now feels guilty. I just didn't get the sense that she was doing it out of some immense love for him.
Unlike in LOYX, where it's so incredibly clear from HYX's internal monologue in the last episode that she chooses to die for LFY because she loves him so much.
NOT that I think either FR or YX should have to die for their husbands, of course. It's just an interesting difference between the two characters that really stands out to me.
40 episodes later, I can say that no scene made me laugher harder than the one in the very first episode when the messenger flew in like an assassin, with the dramatic music and camerawork and everything lmfao wtf
Happy ending. No modern scenes, thank God, it’s all just rumours.
The modern scenes are special content that will be unlocked if enough Chinese viewer click on something (saw it on Twitter, can't remember off the top of my head what they had to click on). There are also a bunch of video and photo spoilers of those modern scenes.
SL was such a joke. He didn't even investigate his mother's death properly and just assumed our ML was the killer???…
I thought it was absolutely hilarious (in a sick way) how he said to FR (while she was unconscious) something along the lines of, "I didn't mean for your father to die. It was an accident."
So he can so easily brush away that fact that he, a grown ass man, "accidentally" caused the death of someone's parent. Yet he tries to move heaven and earth to get revenge on XJ because he thinks XJ accidentally caused his mother's death as a child. *eye roll*
But at least the Emperor admits his mistakes after each wrongs held one. Kudos to him. Not many emperors in dramas…
If the emperor really learned from his mistakes, he could stop making such despicable ones.
Even in the very last episode, he ordered FR, a young woman with a whole life ahead of her, to be buried alive . . that was just the worst . . . surely, he would know that that's absolutely not what XJ would have wanted. Too bad we don't even get to see XJ's anger at him over that order.
Were the 2nd couple's scenes connected to the main plot? I skipped their scenes this first time watching the drama, so idk, but I'm curious about that specifically
I'm on ep 36 and I am pissed off! If I was Xu Jin, I'll never EVER have anything to do with Fu Rong again! How…
I love the main couple, I do but it's 99% because of how devoted XJ is. He has the patience of a saint. For me, episode 19 would have been the line. How tf do you go back after that attempted murder . . . after everything he had done for her, stopping her execution, throwing away his reputation, almost getting killed . . . I really dislike FR . . . HYX from LOYX also jumped to conclusions at times, but she was so much brighter overall, it's really too bad her character here is like this.
No, the last ten episodes can be purchased(I'm pretty sure the option is only available to Chinese viewers).
The last 10 episodes are available to international iQIYI users as well. As a standard VIP ($6.99 per month), I unlocked those episodes yesterday without needing to make any additional purchase.

If anyone here has watched other dramas with this actor . . . does he also walk like that there??
