I love the main couple so much! They have really good chemistry and Hee Tae is so charming lol. How is Hee Tae's…
I'm pretty sure that was his step-mum. They mentioned that the guitar was his "mother's last belonging" so I'm pretty sure his real, biological mother is dead.
What excellent news! Good Detective was one of my favourites from last year. I remember thinking that it could accommodate really well for a second season, and then dismissing the thought because dramas so rarely get sequels. It's very nice to be proven wrong.
This is HIGHLY UNDERRATED. As a person who only enjoys romcom, this was new to me and I’m so glad I watched…
Hmm, not really. 8.7 is a pretty decent rating on this site, and for a Jdrama, that's pretty high (as most Jdramas on this site are underrated). This is on Netflix, a mainstream streaming site, and so it's available to a wide audience. I wouldn't call it underrated, but at the same time, I wouldn't accuse it of being overrated. It does very well for its genres. I like these genres.
this is like a fun & thrilling binge-watch on a weekend type of show if you let the cringe and some missed details…
It seems to be pretty typical for these genres. Considering that this is a manga adaptation, I wasn't surprised (although I was a bit disappointed)... I feel like that was one of the biggest flaws in this, as those moments were clearly written by someone a few decades behind the times. Otherwise, the drama was pretty well done, if not super deep.
I enjoyed the first few episodes immensely... After I'd admitted that I could enjoy these tropes again. Letting this kind of story get in my face and just going with it was fun.
It's not perfect, but I've seen/read a lot of these random-death-game-for-no-reason stories, and it was pretty decent. Pretty well-made as well. The first season feels like it's concluded. The drama peaks at the right places, while also setting it up for another season... Without making us feel ripped off.
I highly recommend if you enjoy this flavour of psychological and brutal mind games.
I’m interested in this, but I don’t want to watch a big romance plot right now. I want to watch a story about long lost siblings. Is that aspect of the story satisfying?
I, personally, find this drama to be so cringe. It’s not horrible, but it’s way overrated. If you want something filled with the usual rom-com tropes, however, this is a really good choice. The female lead absolutely owns her role.
I get a bit of a mixed message from this drama. The complete appearance conscious of the female lead is absolutely tragic, but like, she’s not even all that ugly when she’s no wearing make-up. Sure, her skin is horrible, but she’s a teenager. The message is that you need to wear makeup to be pretty, and that is false.
Sure, some people are born to naturally fit society’s beauty standards, but most people aren’t. I’ve never seen someone who is naturally “ugly”. Everyone has something very pretty about them, their hair, or their eyes, or the shape of their nose, ect...
Most of it is in the way people dress and carry themselves, and if you work at it, anyone can pull it off. Also teenage girls are horrible, and most of the problems the fl experiences really comes from her mother, who just does not care enough about her daughter to boost her esteem or notice she has been bullied.
It is a pleasure indeed! Although for me, I reserve the “guilty” part of the phrase for things I enjoy but know are objectively bad. This drama is quite good.
I find it funny that FL was using the Urban Dictionary for some translations in ep 5 lol. Also I NEED more Seo…
Even though English is my first language, I often look words up in dictionaries when I’m writing. I might understand the word, but sometimes they have a more complex meaning, and sometimes there’s a more appropriate word out there. It’s always good to double check. I think this was a very nice touch.
People who are likening this drama to Record of Youth are doing it an injustice. Maybe the uh, colour scheme is the same, but otherwise they couldn’t be more different. Other than the basic genres, I suppose.
RoY has boring, cliche dialogue with a boring, bland story to back it up. Despite the cast, their performances were underwhelming and the writer has (in my opinion) a track record of writing very average dramas. It was apparent from the first episode that it would fall short of high expectations.
Run On, however, is a breath of fresh air. On paper it looks the same as any other, and the character backgrounds are nothing new, but the script and cast bring it to life. Watching this, it feels like they’ve ironed out the annoying tropes - misunderstandings, pointless stupidity, dramatic love triangles, ect - and taken firm hold of the potentially fun ones, turning them them upside down and owning them.
Characters in RoY were barely 2-D, here they feel more than 3-D.
Can anyone tell me at what time kst it releases on Netflix?
I’m not sure if Netflix release time is the same worldwide, but I find that it is available 1.5 hours after the countdown seen on MDL. If my math is correct, that would be 10:30pm kst.
He’s really interesting, like, so complex I still haven’t really pinned him down after 4 eps. He’s also a nice person, though kind of hilariously naive sometimes... but sometimes not. And the actor is doing a great job.
I feel like a lot of the story will be addressing the unique way he relates to the world.

Just don't think about it too deeply.
I would say that this drama particularly has a very fictional take. It works around historical facts, rather than accurately depicting them.
Cant say more without spoiling it, although it will probably become apparent after the first episode.
