Now that you mention it, I thought the reason he wanted to fire her was solely because she's now a divorcee (and there might be some prejudice there, and he is using it as the excuse...) But now that she is no longer in a relationship, he probably worries his son will have a chance now if they stay in the same workplace...
His reasons for disapproving of her are silly though. She's awesome.
It wasn't the ML actor that had me switching this off after just 1 episode like I expected.
No, it was the sister. The way it focused on her obesity with her buttons threatening to pop (like, I know people irl who are overweight, and they buy clothes in their size) and how she was always holding a bag of chips, which is so steeped in negative stereotypes I cannot even begin.
And that reviewer above was right, she looked a bit uncanny valley, because ofc the actress is actually incredibly skinny.
I know SK has some insane beauty standards, and I don't expect any kind of enlightened depiction or anything. But this is 2024 and they could have done much better. Should have done.
Can one watch this without having watched "Stranger"??
Tentative no, because it hasn't aired yet so I haven't seen it. But Seo Dong Jae has a pretty major role in Stranger so you'd be missing a lot of the initial, complex characterisation that makes him compelling.
Keep mother role aside, Is CEK is really suitable as romantic partner?. As a wife how much she invested in her…
My mother once said that cheating is a symptom of an dysfunctional relationship, and she has a really good point.
The cheater is bad for what they do, but if they feel compelled to, they are clearly not getting what they need out of a relationship. And relationships are two-way streets. Ofc, if something is wrong, they must communicate before they cheat. That they don't is on them entirely.
(If he expressed a desire to end the marriage, she denied it, and only then did he cheat, then I would have much more sympathy)
I think the husband is humanised a lot in this drama. Mostly through his relationship with his daughter. It's very good writing methinks.
I don't understand why the rating of this drama is low compared to other ongoing dramas. It is currently with…
- It's not a romcom - Divorce and cheating is not a popular topic on this site (or it is; it's inflammatory) - Idk about others, but I'm a little burnt out on legal dramas after the last couple years
I'm still enjoying this immensely. And I learnt a long time ago not to trust the ratings.
i take back my words of this drama being a hidden gem. Its getting downhill
yeah the opening was refreshing but I'm not liking the ML. I love a ML who is head-over-heels the FL, but he also needs to have a personality! And not taking no for an answer, no matter the reason, leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. It's very unromantic.
Not to mention, I really am not happy with him suddenly becoming her boss. I decidedly do not like boss-employee romances (the power imbalance!) and this was not what was promised. Also, the blatant nepotism! (How is he qualified for his new role? He's not!) No one has even commented on this in the drama!
I'd hope it doesn't glorify nepotism even more, but that would be getting my hopes up.
I'm at episode 3 and I'm loving how this drama is drama is examining all sorts of dysfunctional relationships.
The younger FLs pov is so black and white, which makes sense considering her background. I often find it frustrating, because I disagree with her knee-jerk emotional reactions (I come from a far less conservative culture though) but it is also a necessary perspective. She's the perfect foil for the older FL, who has so much experience she is emotionally detached and often over-rational.
On another note, does anyone have any recommendations for dramas where the protagonist is the one who has an affair? They often have a low rating on this site because of the topic, so it can be challenging to find the ones there are technically very good.

This drama is not without its flaws, but it has so many strengths. A very fun watch, mostly.
It doesn't take itself too seriously, which makes it just lots of fun.

(but we get all the Disney+ content, though it's not helpful in this case)
