EUN PYO IS SO FKING ANNOYING! I have such disdain for mousey women who exclude themselves, always bowing and apologising. Basically "Bully Bait". I'm like, "grow a backbone. Speak, Shout, Scream. React! The first two episodes were such a drag...and so annoying on the FL. Her inferiority complex, jealousy, anger was so obvious and annoying
All of them have to be in S3. Otherwise I'll miss those ahjumma curls, those little beady eyes, the protected sister, the father figure and the handsome, caring brother 5283. Such great chemistry amongst the 5 of them.
I will watch this as both leads are some that I watch but would say, they both don't make me rush to watch them. Park Shin Hye better have proper kissing techniques, if they're any intimate scenes. We know she's married, but she's an actress. It's 2023 and no more of those closed lips, wide-eyed, hands on the side, stupid 2016 nonsense! Otherwise I wash my hands off her! PHS needs to bring back the old Bong energy and lively interactions.
WHY IS IT SUCH A BIG DEAL IN KOREA when actors are dating? Like this is a fact of life. Are Koreans so up in their celebrities' lives that they have to be formally notified of dating updates? And this business of actors begging their fans to accept their union/dating, is ridiculous. Like why? Never mind apologising to fans for not keeping them up to date on their lives. Thats ridiculous.
This was such a great drama. Well-acted by all. I just had issues with the female actors. The Team Leader was strong, decisive and brave - until she came face to face with her abductor. Then she became such a weakling and literally a blithering coward. Yes trauma does things to people, but one part she's badass and all brave to catch him, and then when she sees him, she literally becomes 6 years old and a trembling victim.
Why didn't the directors maintain that brave attitude when she confronted him and fight to the end? I had issues with that. She literally became a statue and let him come to her and make her a victim again, without even fighting. That was such a letdown. She's all talk when she doesn't see him and literally useless when he's in front of her.
The second lead actress always got herself into trouble and had Zero fighting skills. How stupid for a police officer! Both of them rushing to do things by themselves and not asking for assistance and then crap happens. Everytime. And then they cry! Why? You got the fellow cop killed because of your secrets.
So annoying. But a great drama . The serial killers were so good and everything was so realistic. ALL IN ALL, GREAT ACTING.
You just described what trauma and depression means. "It's your fault, you caused it." When victims have such…
At no point did I mention that it was the victim's fault. Fighting back doesnt necessarily mean that the abuse or assault stops. It means you do something to show the perpetrator that you want them to stop. Some freeze and some don't. Id have liked this story to have the women fight back. Scream/ scratch/hit/push, anything. That is the usual female instinct/reaction and that is from experience. Yes, ultimately will be overpowered, but you leave a mark.
Most were SJK stans. In their heads she is the evil witch who did him dirty. But thankfully that ship has sailed…
This is not the forum to discuss SHK AND SJK relationship. That ship passed and they've moved on, so why can't people do the same. It's their private life and we should respect it. Doesn't matter what their current status is. Be happy if they're happy and stop judging. It's not for us to speculate because we were not there! We don't know ins and outs of current relationships. So let's stop and keep it moving.
We're here to discuss the drama and howber feel about it. That's all. Let's be adults.
There are a lot of documentary about how chaebol own South Korea, perhaps that's will give more perspective. Money…
We all know about the stupid Chaebol families, but how long have the Walmart, Mars, Rockefeller families been in existence? These families are here for eternity and they're less than 1%. You don't see 90% of Americans wanting to look and live like them. There's something fundamentally wrong in SK as they've been programmed to feel that any imperfection is wrong and the Rich are gods. It's deplorable.
number 12 and 13 really gets me whenever I watch kdramas, imagine tying your whole identity to your employment…
It's so stupid. Everything in SK is about status. If you don't have it, then you're nothing. The women going crazy over a good looking man and jealous of his woman. Yes, we all appreciate beauty but not to that extent, regardless of how intelligent you are. That's why there're so many actors/idols who have no business being there but because they look pretty. As a mature/older person, maybe I'm on my soapbox, but talent is everything. SK needs to stop being a country full of shallow people all obsessed with outward appearances and committing ridiculous acts in pursuit of looks, fame, power and high status.
This story inspired by a true story really upsets me. As an international KDrama fan, the way art imitates life in these dramas, especially in the:- 1. the heinous ways Koreans treat their employees, 2. the way they treat people they perceive are "lower class", 3. the ageism, 4. colorism, 5. racism, 6. bribery and corruption 7. lying to get ahead, 8. lying for money and ruining other people's lives, 9. Violence of all types towards women 10. obsession with beauty 11. obsession with marrying rich 12. obsession with addressing people by their employment status - that irritates me and makes no sense : Chairman this, Attorney that, Team Leader this, Secretary that 🙄 13. obsession with treating richer people as if they're gods. Here we don't give a hoot how much money you have. We dont bend backwards or forwards for you. Respect is earned and not given because you were born rich. We don't get out of the way to let you pass. Period! 14. SCHOOL/UNIVERSITY BULLYING!!!!
How is it the judicial system is still that antiquated? Like still living in the Joseon dynasty. FR! Why is the law so loose that people literally get away with murder and attempted murder? THOSE PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN JAILED! But you know what, with the way we've seen the Police portrayed, I'm all for this type of justice.
This drama, as with other dramas, is shining a light on these issues, but still the law does nothing about it. It's very concerning and finally showing the world that S. KOREA IS not all KPop, rainbows and beautiful people like we see in Goblin. Secretary Kim. BUT IS ACTUALLY A SQUID GAME.
6/10. A decent drama with a good story line, just missing some action here and there. Some highs but a lot of lows. In my opinion they needed a different FL. Kim Sa Rang as Hae Ra was just lukewarm. One part she's this abused woman, beaten black and blue and the next she's an avenging warrior and yet always gets into trouble, always getting beaten by these men.
For a woman who's endured so much, surely she'd do something to protect herself. Carry Pepper Spray, learn to fight. Something. But she always landed herself in thèse horrible situations and gets smacked about, and she just tightly closed her eyes and breathed loudly. No care about her safety. I actually liked her partner. She had more life in her.
Yoo Sun never disappoints as a strong woman and a great villain. These types of roles are hers.
To me, Sa Rang is a boring/low energy actress. She needs something to wake her up a bit. Give me Kim Hye-Soo any time. NOW THAT'S VERSATILITY and keeps you on your toes. AND What the hell happened to that abusive husband? We appreciated his death. So did they incinerate/dissolve/chop him up and feed him to the fishes? What? Major loose end for a role which was important.
Also ZERO CHEMISTRY with the ML. I had to finish the drama, but was hard. I like the male lead, but he also needs an action drama or something that brings him to life as he also likes these broody roles.
This is turning out to be a good series. So glad its not the bubblegum romance drama but something modern and adult in nature. No holds barred. Well done to the director for braving the anticipated backlash from the puritanical Koreans on showing naked and semi-naked people.
SHK and the entire cast did a great job. Great storylines and highlights all aspects of human indecency, challenges and I can't wait for the final vengeance to be unleashed. Nothing is more fulfilling than seeing all your enemies get their comeuppance. All the disgusting Korean school bullying that have been in recent dramas is mind-boggling.
My favourite actress Yeon Hye Ran never disappoints. A mixture of vulnerable, happy-go-lucky and sociopathic personalities. She's so good. I love her.
The women in this drama were infuriating, especially the lead actress. I know people getbinto shock in thr midst of an assault, but surely we fight back tooth and nail. She gets ill-treated at woek and doesnt really fight back at her boss for accusing her. There was just something lacking in this drama.
That's so messed up! It's 2023.
