K-Drama
I guess part of the reason of the low rating is how her chasing after him being the dominant part of their story. Qiaoxi's actions are quite normal in reality actually. If Qila was a family member you'd accept her as the insane girl who is still after that guy. you'd accept her obsessed, a step below yandere self as it is. Qiaoxi had to go no contact as a kid bc his parents made him to which happens in real life. he was revered and celebrated only bc of his success all of his life so its normal for him to crush out and go no contact out of shame when he lost all of that with no support system. which also happens in real life. what made things anomaly and a happy ending possible for this love story was Qila's persistence. In real life if someone goes no contact people dont wait for years. they think years and adulting caused it and move on with their lives. So yeah, her being "girl obsessed" and his still being in love with her along with his life circumstances is what this story is about. if a trope of a story is well written not liking the trope shouldnt warrant a low rating as production did what they set out to do well. You accept that and watch it or not based on your taste. The drama is well made, story progression, cinematography, directing and acting were all so nice. there were a lot of beautiful scenes that you could feel the intention of the production in the way they took their time in showing movement and pauses, captured the rawness in them intentionally. the story had so many real and heartfelt moments in the relationships characters had. the way they shot them added so much life into them that you can't blink fearing to be taken out of its magic they weaved. as expected of the story of minglan team
