Title My Roommate Is a Gumiho Spoiler
Wow... to be honest I started watching this just because I was bored, I was gonna wait till there were a few more episodes since I didn't think it would be that original and in a way it isn't, but it's so cute.
It's funny and the acting is good for only two episodes in, the sound effects are a bit much but I'm used to them in K-drama's so it doesn't bother me too much.
A lot happened too, usually it takes at least three episodes to get into the story but everything in here went down from the beginning. In fact I rather wish they had taken a bit more time to delve into the story and characters a bit more before they actually met and the marble was exchanged, but I'm not too hung up on it.
All in all, I have high hopes for this series...

There is zero mystery to this story....I have no idea what kind of climax they can pull off with here since it seems like there's no particular side plot.
We're gonna be in for a whole lot of cliché misunderstandings, pining, underhanded tricks...basically stuff that happened in drama's ages ago...
This feels like a story that could be pulled off in ten episodes or with shorter episodes.
Not to mention I feel like it was a really bad choice to have Choi Tae Joon be a idol, unless he had some really spectacular set of pipes on him, his character should have been an actor instead.

Title Nobleman Ryu's Wedding Spoiler
This is so random it's kinda not cute anymore.
The story is so haphazard that it feels like I'm somehow missing scenes.
Like the scene where the sister is cornered by those two men and LSJ shows up to stop them but nothing happens.... did I actually miss a scene there?
Props to RHS for putting his sister in her place though, even if she is still a brat that has no real purpose other than to add "drama" to this mess of a plot.
Also I have HUGE issue with the SML...
Who the hell sends love letters to his BEST FRIENDS "WIFE" the very next day after meeting her?!! I mean they barely talked, he didn't do anything special to pique SML interest but he suddenly shows up to escort him and goes on about wanting to talk about a lot of things and carrying the luggage? This is all after LSJ said he was uncomfortable and wanted him to go away.
The fact that SML doesn't know that is is a man (not that it should be ignored even if it is a man) already gives you serious stalker vibes from him.
It's so creepy and gross, we're typically supposed to like the SML and kinda root for them or feel sorry for them but this guy is a schmuck.
Like purposefully seduce your friends girlfriend for fun because you can, kinda schmuck.
Also the acting is strangely bad.
I've seen all the male leads act before so I know that they are good actors, really good actors, but they just seems awkward and stiff here.
I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as a truly bad actor, only bad directing and this is a clear case of bad directing.
I can forgive a lot if the story is decent and the chemistry is on point but I'm getting neither of those here which just makes it really disappointing because, while the plotline isn't unique, it still seemed like a fun story.
Hopefully if they make another Korean BL in the future they will do it better than this one.

Title Nobleman Ryu's Wedding Spoiler
I'll be honest, it is adorable. It's really so cute. LSJ is gorgeous cross-dressing, I love it.
But it's also very, very random.
It starts with zero character introduction, we're literally just seeing two random people with no build-up as to how they got there, like why were the sister and Ho-sun even supposed to get married? Money? Alliance? Prestige? We don't know...
It says Ryu is a nobleman but they have no servants and they live kinda modestly so what were the benefits to marrying him, pray tell. Where did the sister even run off to? Who did she run off with? Why did she run off?
Low budget could be at play here but come on, even low budget things can still pull off a good story. It really comes down to sloppy writing, like they did it just for the sake of it, for clout with international fans.
It's like I'm getting a synopsis but not the full story, seriously, who would it hurt if they made the episodes just twenty minutes each?! That is MORE than enough to get a bit more details in.
Not more episodes or anything but just extend the time a little, it's going to get really annoying if they always keep Korean BLs at ten minutes each, as if we're supposed to be satisfied with the bare minimum just because they were "brave" and "open-minded" enough to have gay characters.
Also what is the deal with Ryu's sister? She's just randomly rude to her brother's wife with no explanation for her behavior, even just a small scene with her saying a wife will take all his attention away from her would already explain so much but no...we're left to wonder by ourselves.
To My Star, Mr Heart, Wish You, Where Your Eyes Linger...they were all insanely short but they actually explained things in the limited amount of time that they had. It's kinda like they got complacent and lazy with this one.
That said, I am still a sucker for cute and fluffy so I will just watch it for the no stress once a week time-passer that it is and enjoy that.
What else can I do?

Why is it a fault in the writing if a character is complex? I'm not sure I got what you meant.Regarding XS, I…
Exactly, YJ is antisocial, doesn't care for people or how they feel. He's just obsessed with XS and has made him his entire world. Nothing else matters but him, no hobbies or friends or anything he's really, truly interested in. Honestly in real life that would be really bad because there would never be any freedom in the relationship. It would always be about wanting to keep him close and away from other people. He has already stated that he doesn't like his brother's friends who have done nothing but support and love XS.
But there are 20 eps in total so I'm holding out for really good character development if done right.

It's not a fault of writing if the character is complex, it's a fault of writing that he came off as so disturbed. He stalked his brother, attacked brother's friend and raped him. I'm just saying it could have been done better. More aloof and cold than obsessive and scary. I'm personally taking it as him being a complex character to try and get around the whole story a bit more.
As for XS, he definitely has an attraction to YJ, never said he didn't, he's just tried to brush it off as brotherly love but that drunken night made it so that he can't anymore.
He blames himself for what happened, giving YJ the wrong idea, so I agree that he thinks they're wrong and is probably going to have to better come to terms with his feelings that have likely been there for a longer time than he's realized.

So far it's progressing smoothly, I actually like it a lot more than I did before.
I'm not super crazy over the step-bros but I definitely don't dislike them anymore.
YJ has had some deep childhood trauma and can't properly communicate his feelings without coming off as obsessive which is a fault in writing but I'll just take it as him being a very complicated character.
XS clearly has feelings for him, to the point where he blames himself for ever giving YJ the wrong kind of signals, there's a lot of internalized homophobia in him, to the point where he is denying himself and trying to come to terms with his burgeoning feelings. You can see the shame, guilt, and longing in his facial expressions.
Still don't like the whole rape thing but I'm moving past it to focus on the rest of the story.
So far, MR and LC take the cake on coupling.
They are adorable and overflowing with chemistry, also MR is seriously so pretty and cute I could cry.
(That bathroom scene was hella sexy)
LC is hilarious and I love how loyal he is, he would seriously do anything for his friends and his awkwardness over realizing his attraction to MR is so sweet.
I actually can't wait for the next episode, I'm choosing to judge only once I've finished everything.

Title HIStory4: Close to You Spoiler
Ep 6 was definitely wrong on so many levels.
I think they savagely missed the mark on Yongjie's characterization.
Instead of an aloof, antisocial, doesn't trust people but can eventually learn to, kinda character...we get creepy, manipulative, extremely sociopathic stalking rapist.
Hell, not that this is any better, but if they had both been equally drunk and he confessed his feelings while intoxicated and they slept together it could be written off as a drunken one night stand where both parties could be held accountable to their individual actions.
But this was a pre-meditated rape which is just wrong and not something that should be shown in a series tagged as a romance because it is anything but romantic and yes, they should know by now that people don't like stuff like that.
It's even worse that in the teaser for the next episode, Mu Ren is being assaulted by a co-worker and it's probably going to be brushed aside because "They don't want to deal with the drama" or "Nothing serious happened" as if that somehow excuses everything and just allows a sexual predator to continue doing bad things.
I'm so sick of series not highlighting how dangerous and scarring sexual assault of any kind is, to a guy or a girl, it's used as a plot point and they just accept it as one of those things that just happen, rather than getting any actual justice for it or dishing out some lawful punishment.
To be honest, I will continue watching and keeping my fingers crossed for a better ending for this and some serious character development and if it doesn't work out that way, then I can at least say with all honesty that it sucked.

I really don't get this drama...
Why are all these woman being forced to marry just for sleeping with someone? It's so confusing. If it had been a more old times setting I would understand but this is a modern era drama so it just makes no sense. For the protagonist maybe, but not all of them. Also regardless of Tos's feelings for Bow, the one thing I can't accept is him forcing Pong to stay with his seriously psychotic sister when he knows that she ruined this innocent mans life, this is also after Bow has agreed to marry him so technically he doesn't even need to keep them apart anymore because he has her now.
Another disappointment is that she spent the whole first episode crying over being raped and being terrified of him, and I get that as she gets to know him she's less afraid, but who agrees to a marriage without bringing up something like that? It's like it's been completely forgotten, especially since he told her he filmed it. They should have tackled that before getting more into the romance side of things...

Do you want to place any bets on who killed Torfun?
Tian passed out before he could race, and I doubt his friends would go ahead with it when their friend just collapsed.
It could be his father or maybe the guy he challenged to race...
Or bigger conspiracy...it seems the military guys are trying to break down some crime ring, as seen when they were having that shoot out, and Phu wanted to know the boss, so maybe they killed her purposefully to get to him...just speculation though...

Maybe it's because I've been waiting so long for this, but this was a perfect start to this series.
It somehow felt very refreshing and I'm praying for that to continue for all the episodes.
Fingers crossed...

To be honest, I could deal with everything (sans the rape attempt) this series threw out.
Homophobe who just oh-so-suddenly had feelings for his friends-Fine
Idiot who couldn't see his friends were gay-Seen more stupid then him
Trash ex-girlfriend trying to come between them even though there is no relationship to salvage-Cliché
Annoying and pushy fujoshi's- Gotta have 'em in a BL
What I couldn't accept though was how everyone just pandered to the piece of shit, homophobic, misogynistic, grandchild obsessed father.
He's forcing his son, whom he supposedly knew was gay before even Ton did, to get with a woman and have a baby, was just plain sick.
Treating his daughter like a baby machine and pressuring both his kids for children when they'll have them in their own good time is just not on.
Instead of using Miriam as a surrogate so that they could have permission to be together, which they shouldn't need to ask for, the better ending would be to say "Hey, I'm in a relationship with another man whom I love and you're just going to have to deal with it, if we decide to one day have kids together then that is our choice."
The father didn't even have to agree to it, but maybe instead show him coming around to accepting their relationship, also learning and growing, because frankly that would be way more realistic.
And leave the Miriam as a surrogate as an option she gives them "Hey, if you two want to be parents one day, I would be happy to carry the baby for you"
That would have been a wonderful message to portray rather than, have a baby and I'll let you two be together.
So very disappointing and frankly disgusting.

The ice hockey coach is so irritating.
She judges Sang Tian for hiding her identity without bothering to find out why she did what she did and then left her fucking hanging for goodness knows how long before she made a decision.
She's not a very good coach because half the time, Wen Bing is telling them what to do in their practice times and she's just yelling at them for doing something wrong.
Also her romance with the uncle...she's so not worth it.
She sees him hugging someone and instead of asking what the problem is (since it was her junior) she just flips out and ghosts him when he sincerely tries to make amends.
Then she starts dating some random and creepy looking convince store owner (who can afford to buy her expensive clothes?) who tells her what to eat and how to dress, and talks inappropriately about her body to her face, instead of forgiving the guy who genuinely likes her.
Really, just a horrible woman.
But the rest of the series is really, super cute.

This...sucked....
I always looked forward to Fridays because of this series, it was so fun and even though the plot wasn't original that was still ok, because the awesome chemistry made up for it and it felt like they were building up to something.
Chemistry declined as soon as they became a "couple".
I'm not saying we need hot and heavy scenes like Why R U or TharnType but a kiss? A cuddle? hand holding? Why can't they put something like that in?
How do you have a series where boyfriends don't even hold each other's hands? Or even have a real proper kiss? And here i thought they were moving away from those fake wooden kisses that have plagued drama's for far too long.
This was a big disappointment and it wasn't just the lack of affection that was the problem, once again it's another show that brought in way too many side characters and did nothing with them. The side characters had potential but the story was wasted on useless plot tropes that took away from what could have been a really good series.

This certainly wasn't the best drama I've ever watched before but if there's one thing that keeps me interested, it's good chemistry.
And boy oh boy did this series have that.
They were just so comfortable with each other and that is pretty commendable, those kisses were out of this world and not something you see at all in a BL, so score.
There were plenty of other things and characters that could have been touched on or developed more but at the end of the day this is just something to pass the time and honestly i have no regrets.
I enjoyed it for what it was and i will definitely miss having something to watch on my boring Friday evenings.

Fluffy, cute, sexy...I really did enjoy this episode.
However there are many things that are just frustrating me a lot at this point.
Saifah and Zon really aren't getting the screen time they deserve, we can all agree on that.
All those drawn out cutesy scenes of Tutor and Fighter could have been used to give the other couple a bit more than a cuddle scene (Really sweet but not long enough)
Tutor and Fighter are nice together and while i don't mind relationships happening fast since this is a BL after all, it just feels like they're more in lust with each other rather than in love with each other.
Another thing that really confused me and that makes no sense to the story is Tutor's backstory. I mean he was scrambling for part time work, having like three jobs to help get rid of a debt but his mother lived in a fancy house with a pool and wore a pearl necklace and got her son a condo? How the hell does that even work? Maybe it makes more sense in the book but it was just weird and out of place in the series.
Also, i get that the book has a lot of characters in it but rather don't put them in the series if you're just going to do absolutely nothing with them. There are so many side characters that do nothing for the story that i have to suddenly remind myself to care about in the two seconds they appear on screen.
I like this series, it is pretty well done and I'll watch it to end but so far i'm not overly impressed.
(One a side not, the animations at the end are really cute)
