Japanese BL never fails to give me butterflies! I love this show!
On A Balloon's Landing Nov 21, 2024
I am grateful to see the movie from myself despite the hate it received from few audience from before saying that this was a BL-bait movie. I honestly think this is a BL since I can feel the emotions from the MCs and the way they adore each other and took good care of each other. I was just shocked to know the fantasy touch at the finale but happy to know that they were given a second chance and a second life to enjoy life, maybe together

The hurdles of living in the 90s as someone who is tagged as “not normal”

It is a drama with a heavy message to the audience –such a beautiful yet painful portrayal of the realistic life of a homosexual individual way back in the 90s. Same-sex romance in the present year (2024) might be widely accepted in the world, but the reality is, that we still have a long way ahead before these homophobic groups stop stepping into one’s life and the right to freely live their life for who they are as a person. This is how the series presented its story by showcasing Mishima’s journey in life.

The pain I felt from the first half was redirected until the last episode but for a different reason. No one deserves to be severely bullied especially at a young age. The actions were too violent and extreme. Despite all of these, Mishima continues to attend school with a positive approach. He surely is a kind-hearted boy who knows his self-worth. It is my first Araki Towa’s show and I liked his performance from this role.

I’ve seen a lot of Sono Shunta’s projects but this one is his most tragic role. Kirino’s ending was so sad that I can’t even blame him for choosing to live his life through marriage and having a kid. Witnessing his previous teacher’s life to experiencing it firsthand was a punch in the heart. The sound of judgment and disappointment from the people around him was so loud that he chose to live his life away from what he wanted it to be. The shot of his eyes at the end speaks a lot.

Abe Alan was the main influence on adding this to my list. His role in the mini-series, “I Became the Main Role of a BL Drama” is too lovely which is so distant from his performance as a creepy sensei in this series. No matter what character he portrayed, he already captured my heart as he is such a talented artist with a super handsome face.

The classic enemy-to-lovers trope is a twist on how unexpected it is for Yumeno to fall in love with Mishima. At least they had a cute ending, sticking together as an adult until the end. Being accepted by the family meant a lot for a homosexual person to be themselves without hiding in fear.

The lack of available streaming platforms internationally was disappointing. This series is a gem that needs a larger audience to consume the important life lessons that it has. The title itself is a metaphor that was too hard to define but as I was deeply intrigued by the story, I realized that it was the emotions dwelling inside the characters' lives.

Make the best out of the limited-time drama duration

It is another short but fun web series that executed a well-presented love story from a lovely pair. The visuals and the chemistry are surely top-notch. The leads can surely know how to act and deliver their script flawlessly.

I was in awe during one of their passionate kissing scenes; he lifted his head back to continue the attempted kiss was insanely great. They got closer the more alcohol they drank together. Also, the “good night” from the fifth episode was charming.

Jealousy can make the romance spicier in a good way. I love that sudden entrance of the male second lead. Although he only lasted for a single episode, it was enough to add flavor to the romance of the main couple.

In the finale, I think creating a history from them in the past was unnecessary but it was still cool. Nevertheless, ending the series in another fiery kiss like they wanted to eat each other so badly was phenomenal.

Hirukawa is so handsome. I like the atmosphere of this BL. The possibility of a tragic ending is expected, and I’m all for it. Domestic violence is intriguingly sad. We have three types of people according to the MC; the predator, victim, and the bystander. We have our own sea that the water will not mix, as what he thought it would be. Nice first episode.

Refreshing nostalgia of love

It’s Do Woo’s time to shine, once again! His charming smiles spread positive vibes within me and the way he nailed his role as Kim Dong Hui was excellent. I was in awe at how beautiful he was during one of the scenes when he was smiling up to his ears with splashing water in the background. This boy is so precious, an adorable gem.

Won Tae Min as Ko Ho Tae also delivered a well-acted performance as someone who shared the same romantic love with his beloved boy. The please-teach-me-how-to-kiss scenarios were beautifully written. It’s the plot of the story that ignites the flame of love to the both of them.

The story should give us more info regarding Dong Hui’s father. There was one scene when he was beaten up on his birthday with the mother just crying in the corner and kind of being used to it. In terms of romance, I liked how they blended a good amount of chemistry without relying on other supporting casts. Yet, at some point, I am hoping that Dong Hui’s classmate can be the potential love rival of Ho Tae as explicit during the first few episodes.

Honestly, I almost forgot the whole storyline of its sequel. This prequel ended up better than the first show. Nevertheless, both shows did well and I am happy to complete another well-written short BL series.

Appreciate the effort

An average BL drama that does not feel bland yet not great either, it was just an ‘okay’ kind of show. They started well as I find the characters interesting but that’s it. I think the first to second episodes were the best ones out of the twelve episodes they had. I can see that they all did their best but the overall outcome for me was just fine, nothing less and nothing more.

I can sense the chemistry from the four of them but it lacks appeal. The way they bring us back when Neil meets the younger version of Sea is not cute at all as they end up being paired together. They should at least hired a teenager version of Neil to make their pairing pleasant since the age gap was shaking them out.

Reese and Orca's language barrier was a nuisance. They should just at least stick with using English when they speak to each other. Although the non-verbal communication, specifically the drawing, was charming. Reese is a giant cutie and I did not expect to see his hot naked body with him having a delightful young face.

When it comes to music as their genre, I just hoped that they presented more songs without repeatedly singing the same set of songs throughout the whole show. I got bored many times but still glad that I finished this without dropping. Love the cast but they should polished the script and execution prior to releasing it.
On Love Next Door Oct 20, 2024
I just dropped this show and it hurts me because I love both Jung So Min & Jung Hae In. However, I can't help but keep getting bored with the story after the two best friends suddenly became a couple and became too clingy to each other. Not my cup of tea, honestly. And the stories from the supporting casts were too pale and bland too so no reason on keep watching this for me

Hot take: The only ones with interesting storylines were from the supporting casts

Taiwan and its compulsiveness in making stepbrother romance as a relationship approach in a series. I liked a lot of elements from this drama, but I’ve seen too much of this concept that the impact became dull and redundant. A coming-of-age setup reminds me of some notable C-dramas I watched in previous years, and what makes this more interesting is that they give us the BL flavor to spice up the audience.

The substitute teachers and Alors Cafe owners need their show! They captivated my whole attention, and I love them the most. I demand a prequel or sequel that features them more than anyone else. The love tension is so extreme but I was left hanging by that minimal kiss and confrontation at the end. Subjectively speaking, Zhao Xi and Benny stole the show and I’m craving more from them.

Every cast did great with the portrayal of their roles. You can’t guess that these teenagers in the story were adults in real life. The squad isn’t that impactful but they still manage to provide a favorable result of high school friendship. Andy Chen as Gao Tian Yang is my favorite one from them! I’m grateful that the drama introduced me to this Gu Hai version and excited to see his next projects, hopefully, a BL show, in the future. One of my favorite episodes was the sports festival which was chaotically fun and regained the momentum of the drama’s appeal.

I applaud the production for limiting the young couple’s intimate scenes. I honestly think they can make more sexual scenarios and I’m glad they don’t. From what I’ve seen from the latest BLs today, many shows prioritize the R-18 plot more than the quality of their script.

Overall, this drama is good but downgraded by the concept of an incest-like relationship. Thankfully, the supporting characters left a good impression towards the end despite not having their proper closure to the story.
On Love Is a Poison Oct 15, 2024
So excited for this drama because of how hot the lawyer is. But I was disappointed with the outcome. I understand that they're trying to make this into comedy but the mysterious guy partner who suddenly appeared to his house and everywhere he goes, like a stalker, was just creepy. Bye bye. I dropped this now
