The Devil will go through lengths to have it his way
This drama is such a thrill for me. I went through all the way to the 15th Episode and still have no clue as to what Judge Kang wants and main objective, although I do have a clear sense of he is really after. It confuses me on to why he was overly obsessed to have Judge Kim's support. It must be because he highly resembles Kang's adoptive older brother and was trying to live his revengeful phase in the best case as he can by making it look like his "brother" supports him through it.
I honestly love how this drama unfolds and how the cinematography and the acting goes hand-in-hand. I want to say so many things about this drama but I refrained from doing so because I want others to try and watch it for themselves. I was confused throughout all of it but I do feel the sentiments of pain and anger throughout their lines and conversations. The real essence of a devil is greatly depicted and acted out by actor Ji Sung. I never knew I would love him more than Park Jinyoung (who is the original reason why I watched this) after all of it. As confusing as it is, I know why it was purposely done so. Just like the devil, it confuses and manipulates. It is the main epitome of its existence, thus this is a great way to show how he would be if he was to be a human.
The mere fact that the supporting characters are as evil as they are ought to be, it gave a greater stage for the main devil to shine and to have his works prevail above all malice. What I can't relate to is the obsession of Jung Seon-A for Judge Kang. I understand that they are somehow the same and relate to each other in means of upbringing and attitude but to instantly rise up to power and toy with everyone else just to get one man's attention is a bit too much for me. Knowing that her past isn't that great to begin with and her sudden powerplay was utterly conniving just don't add up for me and doesn't make much sense. I guess that's how it is in a dystopian setting... anything is possible as long as they have a reason.
Overall, this was a great watch and it got my brain to think so many speculations as I could. I also had some doubts and thoughts about all of it and somehow it all just comes down to one reason: Revenge and perhaps great satisfaction or regret.
