yes lol, in the novel, they kissed after saying "kissing without dating is fun", but they didnt put it in the movie so it didnt make sense 😔. its supposed to be "kissing without dating" but now its dating without kissing lmao

in the novel, xu zhi is described as someone who seeks for "excitement" and likes kissing/physical touch. chen luzhou basically thinks xu zhi likes "excitement" more than she likes him. so he was scared and upset that she will leave him after the initial excitement is gone. then after the confrontation stuff happens, they started dating.

i think most of the disappointment abt there not being kissing scenes came from original novel readers (like me) because it is like a start point/ turning point in their relationship (spoilers below)
