You have made the right decision by not skipping it. This is easily one of the best Chinese fantasy dramas over the last three years. Youku's best drama since 2018. Do enjoy the ride!

The ending can be easily explained. Just before Ji Yunhe dropped into the lava lake, Changyi gave her his merman pearl. Over the three hundred years that the pearl lies embedded in her, first, it kept her alive. Next, it transformed her from a fox spirit to a mermaid. We have seen how powerful that tail can be. With that tail, she broke free from the lava lake and reunited with Changyi at the cliff.

That the merman pearl is so powerful is consistent throughout this drama. Its power is mentioned by the immortal master. And, at the house by the snow, it kept Ji Yunhe alive.

Nothing has been cut, because they did not exceed the episode limit.

Nobody is a tyrant here and dictate what you should like or dislike. You can do whatever you want and nobody can stop you. But, at the same time, you also cannot stop others from saying that you are not a true fan of Dilraba, if you do not like TLB, which is one of her big hits in 2021.

True fans of Dilraba will celebrate her success. And TLB was one of her great successes in 2021.

The MDL page does not belong to me. I am well aware of that. But, I have gone around the different MDL pages to know that cdramas are basically fan-driven. Not just cdramas. It is the same with kdramas.

So, I do not jump at people's throat, but am basically stating my observation, after being on the page of TLB for months and YAMG for months. Generally, people who do not like a particular drama, the statistically probability is that they are not a fan of either the ML or FL or both. Especially if they take the trouble to say that a drama is not good on the comment page of that drama. Some will state it openly that they are not a fan of either leads, while others will try to hide it.

I do not crazy idolise Dilraba. I look at numbers. And all the numbers are telling me that TLB and YAMG are her big hits in 2021. There is nothing for me to idolise about Dilraba. She is younger than my eldest daughter. I do not try to dress the way she does or wear stuff she wears. I am just following one of the best cdrama actresses at the moment, admiring her acting skills and respecting her amazing personality.

Dilraba only has two dramas in 2021. If you are a true fan of hers, you would have supported both. And she even won award for her role in TLB. So, yah, you are hardly a true fan of hers.

There is nothing to suggest that any scene was cut. This is pure speculation. We are dealing with a very experienced and highly respected director. When the drama was first aired, many viewers went online to blame the scripwriter for the ending (in particular, the final 5 minutes). They blamed her for bad writing, rather blaming the director or post production people.

Fact is, some scenes were never filmed in the first place. If they were, there is no reason why they would not show it. If there is any blame, blame it on the post production people. A simple caption with one minute exposure, just before the final 5 minutes, would have explained everything. Even without this caption, if you had watched the entire series carefully, listened to all the dialogues carefully, you would have come to the same conclusion that many of us did, why the final 5 minutes ended the way it did.

So, please do not believe those who tell you that certain scenes were cut. They have zero evidence for saying that.

If you are new to this page, meaning you only joined us when the English subs were out, you might want to know that when this drama was first aired in China, it ruled the airwave in China throughout its broadcast. Besides the drama itself, the Ji Yunhe character was always ranked on top, as a drama character, with Changyi not far behind.

All cdramas are loved by fans of the leads. So, if you do not like this drama, very likely you are not a fan of Dilraba or Allen or both, and your reaction is hardly surprising.

Some of you read the novel before watching this, and you love to keep comparing the drama with the novel.

Someone mentioned months ago, beautifully, both the novel and the drama are works of art. They are different and should be enjoyed in their respective medium. Only then can we learn to enjoy both.

And, just for your information, when TBW first aired, the author of the novel went on record to ask Youku to release more apps, so more people in China can watch it. This only happens when an author is totally pleased with the way her work has been adapted into drama.

Certain things from the novel were changed for censorship reason, other changes were made for dramatic reason.

When many of us first watched the ending many weeks ago, we thought, oh no, it is going to ruin the popularity of the drama. Fact is, it did not. The lack of explanation for the last five minutes was subsequently explained by the young actor who acted as the heavenly king. There was also a document that was circulated around, that helped explain things. Even before that, many of us who had watched this very carefully knew there could be only one explanation for the final 5 minutes.
