Watching Again

Yeah, unfortunately, in this drama that's the dynamic between them. Everything is a game up until the very end. They love each other but say and do things otherwise, at first just to get an upper hand in the love game. Later, it's to protect each other. I mean it's so silly at times. That's why even though I like the main couple...I can't stand some parts after episode 33 either. I rather forget that part of the drama. Things got so bad that I have to" try" to finish the drama.

I wrote a review based on the first 19 episodes but for some reasons it didn't show up so I'll post it here:

Visually stunning drama and the symbolism of lights.

For a short drama, the quality far exceeded my expectations. It's a visual feast for the eyes. Every frame is captured beautifully.
The lighting is just magical. It was used as an instrument to set the mood and tell the story very effectively here. I would recommend this drama for the visual aspect alone.

The story's portrayal of women was a surprise. The struggle to break through what was considered the norm was a fresh take. Suffered through her whole life, Di Shi Qi's world changed the day Ouyang Shao appeared.
Her journey from the darkest, hopeless place to become the most powerful women was inspiring.
Her strength is admirable. Not just Di Shi Qi, the women around her really held their fates in their hands. It's so unusual to see something like for stories from this period. This is what makes this drama stands out from the rest.

It's a good drama. Highly recommend.

She never kissed 2ML. She just thought ML was taking his revenge on her parents so she did that to hurt him. The video was filmed from an angle to look like she did but in reality there was no kiss.

Yeah...but this drama is in that genre so there are many uncomfortable scenes to watch. I was trying to forget what happened after episode 33...but I had to re watch some parts again to give you an answer :)

Are you talking about the necklace scene in the rain? If you watch the drama carefully...you'll know why FL treated ML that way. Everything is a lie to protect ML.

It's not my POV...it's reality. It's in the official guideline of Chinese film's industry. In real life, abusive boyfriends/husbands happen a lot in that culture so the government tries to portray a different image of what is acceptable. Dramas are so different from real life. Things are still changing for the better but slowly.

Yeah, I tried to contribute as much as I can after being a silent reader here for so long.

I did all that stuff before. I went from creating websites & blogs promoting HK dramas then moved on to Korean & Chinese dramas. It was fun while it lasted.

Hehe...I tried to watch the whole drama and not skip anything if possible. At least the cast is good looking. I think they can cut down about 10 -15 episode and it'll probably improve the overall experience.

That won't happen. I remember there's one drama a few years ago that has scenes of the ML being disrespectful to FL. Wow...the actor playing that role almost get canceled. He went from being a sought after actor to someone no one wants to see. It was bad. I don't think anyone want risk their careers to play roles like that.

In today's dramas, it's no longer acceptable to see ML hit FL. I think the Chinese film industry even have a guideline of what is acceptable and what is not.

Yeah, I'm surprised at the amount of slaps he got. I think it's the most I have ever seen. Even Thai lakorns don't come close.

It's a good drama so far. Beautiful cinematography and lightning,
every scene is visually beautiful. The ending song is good too. I'm all caught up to episode 15 now.

Strong, calming, caring, of course good looking. He's always protective of the FL. But FL stole the show.

I think He Rui Xian has that regal, rich heiress look. She's so pretty. They just released some gorgeous looking pictures of the cast. I posted them in the Photo section.

It's not a "true" love triangle because FL never loves 2ML.

The first part was fun, the middle was a bit iffy with all the crazy twists. The story recovered in the end.

I agree about Fan Zhi Xin. His past dramas are way shorter so I always feel like I haven't seen enough of him. I'm always excited and happy every time they released his new dramas. He's so good being cold and serious. In real life, he's totally different...like another person.

I enjoyed the drama until episode 33, after that I think they went too far with all the twists. I was still watching but the mood is no longer the same. I just can't wait for it to be done. I like their actings, I just don't like that part of the story. Usually I won't be affected this much but the more I like the actors, the more I want their dramas to be successful. It's a little disappointing what went down.

Behind the scenes, I love the dynamics between the main couple. Fan Zhi Xin is about 5 years younger than He Rui Xian so she has the upper hand in real life too. She teased him endlessly. He gets shy and his ears are always red.

They always take pictures for each other. Most of the pictures they posted on their socials are taken by the other person.

The styling of FL...is done on purpose with lots of make up on. Her clothing is a little out there, loud...always demands attention. She is so pretty so she can make everything looks good.

Oh, I thought you talked about the adult. They went to the sea cliff with white flowers.

Yeah...it's a short drama, they probably cut many scenes in the final cut.

Because FL comes from a richer background, she had the upper hand naturally. He always secretly gives in to her anyway.

In this drama, FL slapped ML HARD many times, to the point that ML had to ice his cheek in real life. I feel bad for FZX. These slapped kiss scenes are no joke to film. This is a remake of a Thai drama that's why there are more slapped kisses than normal...hehe.

They're still playing games all the way until the middle of the last episode. Her child appeared literally the last minute of the drama so there are no hate.

This will be addressed halfway through the last episode. Wait for it. :)

Romance is just part of it.

This is considered a short web drama so it doesn't have to go through the regular vigorous inspection process. Short dramas can be more daring. TV dramas have a strict guideline that's why you never see a real passionate kiss, it's not allowed.

Even though it's 56 episodes but the running time of each episode is only 18 minutes.

So if you calculate like the regular drama...it'll be: 18min/Episode x 56 episodes = 1008 minutes

1008 minutes : 40 minutes/Episode = 25.2 Episodes.

So this is only the length of a 25 episodes drama.

I'm writing a detailed review so wait for it...it's taking a bit longer because it's a long drama. For now you can start watching, it's quite enjoyable...at least for the first 33 episodes. The chemistry and the good looking cast will hook you in. The love game is interesting. There are quite a bit of slap kisses...typical of Thai dramas. This is a remake of a popular Thai drama.

Don't worry about 2ML, the FL NEVER loves him. She sometimes uses 2ML (with permission) to get back at ML when she's jealous.

For the most part, it's like a game back and forth between the main couple...you win some you lose some. Their chemistry is the key and they definitely did their part. The kisses are passionate and their love is pretty intense.

There’s a major twist in the story around episode 33 that almost destroyed the whole thing. I must say I suffered with them for at least 5-6 episodes. Luckily, the drama was airing everyday, 4 episodes/ day so the pain fortunately went by fast and I was able to continue but with much less enthusiasm.

I think the drama is still worth a watch if you're a fan of the cast. I think it was good up until episode 33. The love game was fun at times. All the crazy twists after episode 33 did too much damage. The drama recovered at the end but the damage was done. It could have been better for sure.

This drama has the most photogenic couple. I enjoyed watching for the great chemistry but the last few episodes is just down right crazy. There are only 4 episodes left so hopefully everything will be ok tomorrow. It was draining to watch everyone suppressing their emotions and the story went from one crazy twist to another.
