Agree, and so much of the phony science parts in the first half can be FF'ed through and you don't lose anything. IMO even more than half of it could have been cut.

I've never seen a comment/review before that I agreed with so much! I think you only left out (assuming you agree) that the whole Mei Zuo/Cai Na part was superfluous and I really enjoyed the Ximen/Xiaoyou relationship.

49/50 episodes is too long for the amount of story it had. way too draggy at several points.

I never went back to check, but does it seem like every time we saw her with long hair she's wearing a hat or headband of some sort? My guess is the long hair is fake and the short hair is her real hair.

But only shows as having 6 ~40 minute eps. Usually Netflix shows the dates when more episodes will be released but they didn't do that for this show for some reason. Strange.

Netflix cut it into more and shorter episodes. You can see where half of the eps begin with no recap of the last few minutes of the one before it.

A bit late but I found the Chinese remake to be a lot better. FL's in both versions were terrific, but the ML in the Chinese version was very good and this one is not. I'm trying to watch this again after dropping it a while back and not sure I'll finish it, yet I watched the Chinese version and loved it enough to rewatch it a year later.

There are also chaebols and doctors.
