Textbook good 40-60 episode drama
This is arguably one of my favorite dramas of all time, if not my absolute favorite. Anyone who's making a 40+ episode drama should watch this for its pacing alone. One thing I love about Wang’s Family is the proper pacing paired with good writing. No scene has poorly written dialogue that feels boring or stretched out, and it never dwells too long on any one scene or story element. It’s always pushing forward to the next thing or the next stage in the arc, constantly keeping you on your toes.
And while you will have those classic cheesy drama elements where things happen for X reason but, for the most part almost every character goes through a wonderfully written storyline that's still a joy to rewatch.
My only cavate is that the first half of the series is like a 7-8/10 while the 2nd half is an 8-8.5/10 but Everything ties together, and nothing feels left out by the end. It’s just nice to see such a solid drama, especially for me, because I’m not always interested in every character in a drama, but here, they’re all great.
