The Korean people are owed the truth about the exact causes of the 1997 financial crisis, and about what really went on behind closed and in boardrooms during the critical hours that led to Korea declaring bankruptcy and requesting the IMF's bailout. This film provides just that: the truth. The decisions made by a few individuals will go on to impact the lives of millions, and have shaped the Korean business world and financial playing field to what we know it to be today. I wonder if the making of this film will now prompt an investigation into the possible illegal and unethical wrongdoings of the prime policy and financial decision-makers back then. Some of those individuals, namely the Deputy Minister of Finance, need to be in jail.
This is a compelling and informative watch overall, and I highly recommend it. What I would like to know is who the character of Yoon Jung Hak (Yoo Ah In) was based on. Very good performances all around, at the exception of Yoo Ah In's. He is a tremendous actor, yet for some reason, I found his acting here rather poor. It was good seeing Vincent Cassel (Vive la France!).
Qi Yue and An Sheng's love for one another surpassed and transcended the love they both had for Su Jia Ming. They were true soulmates in deed, and indeed.
It was ok. An awesome story and life lesson, yet unfortunately told lacklusterly, hence unmemorable though the performances were brilliant. A hint of romance might have perhaps helped.
In my humble opinion, T. Kimura's worst performance to date. In his defence, the acting of the rest of the cast was rather abysmal. I think it might have been due to the fact that this was shot in studio with a lot of green screen and CGI involved. Not good at all.
The leads had awesome chemistry. One has got to mention those passionate kisses at the end. If Tomoko Yamaguchi were not a newlywed (1995) at the time this was shot, I would have thought she and Takuya had something going on off screen. Kimura-san is such a great kisser: that sexy lower lip of his and his tongue give mad action!
The soundtrack and classical pieces selected were marvellous. I loved Cagnet's Here We Are Again, and of course the La La La Love song.
The background beat to Toshinobu Kubota's La La La Love Song reminds me a lot of Jeffrey Osborne's Baby Stay With Me Tonight (1983). Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCWYZHYIPyE
This started out light, funny, and entertaining. Unfortunately, it failed to remain as such. The last 3 episodes were a bore. The immaturity of the female lead irritated me; so did the goody-two-shoes, yet conniving second lead. In Episode 3 , Teppei's (KimuTaku) cracked me up when he brought up his "special skill" to Erika: He can go “...1000 times per second, no machine is my rival.” LOL
A very unique plot, and an interesting watch. A remake with the loose ends polished and a refining of the characters will turn this into an amazing drama.
You had me at Blacklisted! It is endearing to find someone who shares a perspective similar to mine on this matter.
This is where you lose me: 1) Lee Yo Won - A formidable actress in my humble opinion. Please give a try to Golden Empire, Avengers Social Club and Queen Seon Duk if you haven't as of yet. 2) Hwang Jung Eum - Her speech impediment, natural tone of voice and (tonal) delivery are problematic, but we have to acknowledge her acting skills, which are on point. Try watching her in Secret & Kill Me, Heal Me. 3) Ha Ji Won - Give her a try with Empress Ki.
Though I am not particularly a fan, I have watched the aforementioned 3 actresses in most of their projects, and the ones suggested feature them in a stellar performance.
Now my question to you: where is Lee Min Ho in all this?
A beautiful drama... The issues of disability and one's mortality were dealt with tactfully, yet naturally. Tokyo did not seem accessible at all to the disabled 20 years ago; I hope things have now changed for the better in Japan. Now I've got to say this: the hairstyles were atrocious!

That little girl scared me as f*ck!
