Did it get better for you? I'm glad i stuck to it. Song Seung Heon alone made it worthwhile.
I may have missed that earlier reference to the old lady reaper. 407 likely mentioned her if memory serves. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who can get lost in the names. Also in Sageuks I can mistake faces too...ugh. I'm currently watching Battle of Changsha and it is AMAZING!! Near breathtaking at the moment. Talk about WOW!

Yes!! I still got lost with names. Ugh, and the insertion of the the old lady who had been on the run for a 100 years seemed too convenient, but I ended up liking it a lot. Gave it an 8.5:)
I just started. I'm on episode 5 and it is wonderful. Wow! I haven't been this riveted in some time. It is breezy and serious so far. It just whisks you along. I'm loving it.
Having a hard time getting into this one. I just finished Stranger before this and like that better. I'm going to try to stay with it longer. I'm on episode 3.
I didn't mark this as a spoiler because I discuss NOTHING about the plot. I mention a few vague items that happen, but no plot points. Read on with that in mind.
Well it opened my eyes. I have seen several sageuks and as sordid as they can get in betrayal and torture they are still relatively sanitized. This one shows more of the actions in these sordid happenings. The affairs and sexual desire... Plays out right on screen. But also it goes deeper in the punishments. Castration and the order of removal of a uterus. The movie is solid. However, if you are used to the sageuk dramas and how it takes quite a while for things to unfold, watching this may seem like everything is hurried. We don't get the long drawn out story arcs. This gets right to the point to advance the story. In fact, you will likely feel like there are holes or too many leaps of faith. Still it is a good watch, just be warned it is VERY graphic.
Empress Ki was also my favorite Korean drama of all time - until I saw this one.
Wow that is so interesting to hear!! Actually I would have to clarify this and say my favorite sageuk. My all time favorite Korean drama would easily be Reply 1988. But Queen Seon Duk really surprised me. I mean I knew it was very well liked, but I was blown away with how even and consistently out stayed amazing. I loved it so much.
I'm so happy to hear that. I just finished it up for the second time. I wish we could have spent more time with them in the happily ever after...but that is how most of these drama end. So many tears.
Watching again for the second time after 2 years. It has only gotten better. You have to love love to get it. You have to be a complete hopeless romantic to be truly and fully swept away. It will wrest your heart and keep it to the end of this drama if you believe in love forever with all your heart. I will write more this is episode 11 for rewatch. Loving it even more.
Such a sweet story; I don't know why it got only 6.5. I would definitely recommend it.
I completely stumbled on this movie. I paused it to come to MDL and see what others thought. So far I think it is beautiful and poignant. I think I'm going top completely agree with you.
Assuming you're a guy, I wonder if we have higher expectations for sci-fi, like the "science fiction" part needs…
Yes I'm a guy!! Hee hee and I'm not gay...Lol!! Usually expected to be a KDrama nut. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only who found this a bit underwhelming. I didn't like it much at all. You were correct. It felt like low grade sci fi. The rest didn't interest me much either.
I was married to my high school sweetheart. We made it 22 years and then she developed a relationship with a man outside our marriage and eventually cheat, left and married him. I was devastated. We have the boy's. This drama made me think about many things...the passing thing is that in real life there is no do over. That made this the most painful part to watching this. We are both to blame for our neglect and showing our marriage to crumble. How much I wish I could go back and like this, make it all right.
Yes just finished Circle and...are you ready for this...easily my least favorite Korean drama ever. It just felt like the same episode over and over . Just trying to get to Woo Jin...Zzzzzz. I just never felt compelled. The story began to reveal and none of it was exciting to me. Lol. I know I'm in a tremendous minority, but that was a bore to me. The first 10 minutes hooked me only to fizzle the rest of the way of constantly repeating everything...or so it felt to me.
