10/10. One of the best series Iโve seen and not just in the BL genre. The storyline is original and the dynamic…
"Help! So sweet my teeth are hurting!" ๐๏ธ
I needed this. ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ Now I'm craving a cake with Buttercream frosting and the little green things around the air-brushed purple flowers. ๐ฅ๐ง๐ฅ
I'm loving all that they're throwing at us as we head towards Episode #3. ๐ They certainly did not waste any time at all adding new aspects and depth to these characters already. A lot of the times, we don't get to see it until Episode #7, just before one of the ML couples has an existential crisis.
I'm loving how Pond and Phuwin are playing such different characters this time around compared to what their characters were like in 'Fish'. ๐ฅฐ But every so often, in their scenes together here, you can catch an occasional glimpse of Mork and Pi yet. ๐
I'll be eager for #3 next Tuesday, like everyone else. I'm hooked on this one, even if the tropes try to creep in next before Episode #6. ๐
*insert drunken Palm being carried out of the bar by Nueng* ๐บ๐ต๐น *insert the 'sharing of the ear buds' with Palm's favorite music* ๐โ๏ธ๐ *insert Palm with a bad cut and Nueng applying antiseptic* ๐๐ชก๐ค *insert Palm playing with Nueng's hair while he's asleep* ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ
I watched #12 tonight. . .so now it feels like it's Friday already. ๐จ I actually liked this last episode, and certainly a lot more than I liked #11.
A lot of you in here have already read my mind about the story quality of these last two episodes, so I'll leave that part of it be. ๐ Episode #11 really broke the spell I was under here, but #12 tried to fill things in a little bit to make up for it. ๐ฅฐ
Seeing the two sets of rings was the high point of this one tonight, so I feel better than I did last Friday. ๐๐๐๐๐ Finding Jin Xun An under that ginormous pile of stuffed animals on the bed was another great moment for me, too. ๐ ๐งธ๐ช ๐ป๐ฆ๐ฆท๐งธ
All is forgiven for the direction this went towards the end, mainly because the work that went into this whole story was nothing less than next-level cinema. ๐๏ธ๐๐๏ธ For the big majority of this series, this was a well-acted, well-filmed and very accomplished story, so, the way this show was wrapped up (for now?) gives me very little for me to complain about compared to the refreshing experience I've had watching it from the beginning.
Even with more thought, I'm at a loss to come up with more than four shows over the course of 2022 that matched the style and quality of this one. ๐ 'Choco Milk Shake' was another, and they both wrapped up on the same day. ๐โโฌ๐ฉ
Having said all of that, for #12. . .they let Dad off too easy. ๐ฟ Picture-taking time next to the chess set was less rewarding for me than if I had seen Dad in a police car after the way he almost derailed this whole story last week. ๐
It's not clear whether or not Bai Lang got a good look at the bruises on Jin Xun An's back, and maybe it's a good thing if he didn't. ๐ฅ๐ก๐ฅ We could have devoted a whole scene to that.
One thing they didn't devote enough scenes to was RJ & Alex, so I'm hoping that we do get a Season 2 here, and that RJ & Alex get 40% screentime in it. ๐
Hopefully this isn't the last we see of all of these characters between now and next Christmas. I'm on board for another 12 episodes of this (minus Dad). ๐ฅฐ
For a few moments during the end credits, I really thought that the four of them in the aprons were going to break…
Did you know it's streaming today? ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ Apparently, someone leaked the finale to the internet. . .so they're airing the last episode now instead of Friday. ๐ฌ
Typical Korean BL- leave us wanting MORE!!! That ending scene of all 4 in their server uniformโฆ. ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ…
For a few moments during the end credits, I really thought that the four of them in the aprons were going to break into the dance like we keep getting at the end of 'My Tooth, Your Love'. ๐ถ๐ต๐คต๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐คต๐ฝ๐คต๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐คต๐ฝ๐ต๐ถ The episode ended and I was like, "Oh. . . .no dance. OK." ๐
Episode #11 hit all of the right notes and was perfect. ๐ฅฐ If #10 was the ending and a bunch of us got together to make an alternate ending with #11, this would probably have been really close to how it would have turned out. ๐
This was quite an experience and well worth the grueling two weeks to wait for this episode. #11 was about :20 minutes long and I cried for :19 minutes of it. ๐ข
The empty apartment, the empty alley and the empty swing set really got to me. ๐ฌ I was very cautious afterwards with the reunion until I realized that Jungwoo wasn't having a dream about all of this happening, and it was perfect. ๐ค
Time-jumps are usually spell-breakers for a show, but this one worked. Everything that was done with this series worked. Everything. ๐
In two years, Jungwoo could have moved away, Uncle could have closed the restaurant, and everyone's feelings could have changed, but for this one, I was glad that everyone gets to pretty much pick up where they left off. ๐
Very few shows deserve to get a '10', and this is definitely one of them. ๐ The cast, the acting abilities, the character depth, the locations, the OST, and all of it were brilliantly done, and if anyone hints at a Season 2 for this series, I'll check the board every day for updates. Season 2 would be a must-watch. ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ๐ฅฐ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ . . .and if they want to make the episodes an hour long, that would be all right, too. . . ๐
In the meantime. . .Episode #11 deserves at least 4 rewatches right now, and a rewatch of the whole series again by the time the Christmas festivities are done. ๐ค
You're absolutely right about Sin. . . .an architect with big hair. . .it must be Sin. ๐Their next-door neighbor's…
Maybe 'Sunshine Night' treatment is what we need here. ๐
Along the lines of Gun & Golf in speedboats and white suits. ๐คฃ Or. . .we'll let Em keep the guitar and Name can play the cello alongside him. ๐ป The way things have been for Champ, he'll probably end up in the helicopter. ๐
I feel after this episode I need a support group to Morn the loss of what could have, might have, should have…
I'm still trying to decide whether an Episode #13 & #14 would be a good thing or not. ๐
This is turning into a real mess, so I can get through them if I stop concentrating on the relationships and waiting for fireworks to finally happen. ๐ฅ๐๐ฅ
If there are two more episodes, I'd really hope that there's some creativity lurking in them. . .I'll need that to summon up the strength to do a rewatch someday. ๐
I had to really lower my expectations going into Episode #11. ๐ I've never dropped a series before, and I won't do so with this one, so any of my complaints will have to go hand in hand with the fact that no one is forcing me to watch this every Sunday. ๐
Having said that, there were a lot of things about this episode that were nice. ๐ When I look at the bigger picture of where this show is going, though, the disappointment starts to creep in with every one of the storylines. ๐
Since I went into all of this with both feet back in October, I held out hope that there was a passionate relationship here to go with the emotional investment I had with almost everyone in this series. I expected too much love in this and didn't plan ahead for the fact that maybe this whole series was just meant to be a 'slice of life bromance' with more emphasis on the journey through life than the romance along the way. ๐ฃ
I'm glad that I did lower my expectations, because these last episodes have none of the allure that I saw for the first four or five of them. . .almost like I tuned into a different show. ๐บ The only thing that prevailed all the way through was the ongoing joke with the hair. ๐ง๐ฝ
I might also be the slightest bit bitter that I was rooting so much for happiness and fireworks for Champ and Name and Gun and Golf every Sunday, only to see Name get dragged through hell in the first half of things and Champ in the second half. ๐ซ๐ซ I can't say that this show has failed because I was looking for strong hints of a BL in this, but I know that I wouldn't have taken the effort to care so much about these characters if I had known so many opportunities were going to be ignored to make this series what it ended up being.
One more episode isn't going to redeem most of what I was hoping for here, but I hope, at least, that it ends on a happy note for each of them. ๐ฅฐ Name and Em are still shy around each other, Champ still isn't dating anyone, Nan smells like fertilizer, and Gun has finally used up his quiet patience. ๐ฌ I won't make very many guesses for where that puts us going into #12, sadly, because I don't have the feels like I used to for any of these separate story lines. It's like I've checked out one episode early. ๐
Gun and Golf have 15-17 years invested in each other, so I'm guessing that hiccup with them will work itself out, but the rest of the cast, for the last episode, could go in any direction. ๐คท๐ฝ
A barber and a stylist would be nice for the finale, but I'm not counting on that, either. ๐
I'm not going to complain about the time spent on Champ dealing with Lucky, because losing a pet is a whole different level of grief compared to a family member. ๐ฆ I've easily cried more tears for the cat no longer hanging around the kitchen table than for a great-aunt that sent me a card twice a year, so Champ gets some personal space there.
Now, alas, Lucky gets to join Grandfather on the other side. ๐ง๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐ฆ๐ง๐ฝโโ๏ธ If it's like the last two months, Lucky is probably ignoring Grandfather and is looking across the room at his trainer. ๐
When I get down in the dumps about a series like this and the 'what could have beens', I often think about a Season 2 to straighten out whatever is lacking. In the case of this show, I'm almost wishing for a re-boot of it, like we've seen 3 or 4 times along the way. . .in some ways like what they did with '2 Moons' and 2 Moons 2'. . . .maybe not the best example. . .๐
The cast is great, so that's not an issue, and the director as well. I'd be willing, instead, to see 74% of the script put in the shredder and a second attempt made at this one. ๐จ๏ธ๐ฝ๏ธ๐๐๐๐๏ธ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ Because of time and money, that isn't going to happen, but it would sure be nice in this instance.
Once the dust settles on this production, I will be looking forward to seeing Title, First and Ja in their next series. . .provided there's a clause in their contracts to not wear wigs. ๐ง๐ฝ๐ง๐ฝ๐ง๐ฝ
I'll be looking for new things with them and wishing it had all happened in this one. We'll see what Episode #12 gives us. ๐ I truly wish I cared as much as I did 4 or 5 weeks ago.
I swear they're just torturing Champ for just the sake of it at this point. First the grandpa, now his dog, then…
You're absolutely right about Sin. . . .an architect with big hair. . .it must be Sin. ๐ Their next-door neighbor's name is probably Pharm, too. ๐คฃ
I love that we've made our way half of the way through this series and #7 was as pleasant to watch as all of the others. ๐ฅฐ
I haven't been disappointed with any aspect of what we've been given so far, including the side couples, the pace of the story, and the total devotion to food that we've seen. ๐ The only thing I could find to make me cringe for any of these episodes has been the studio's way of giving us the acapella singing as a cue to start crying our eyes out. ๐ถ๐ถ๐ญ๐ถ๐ถ They did it to me again. . .๐ข
I love what we've seen from the side couples so far, mainly because the scenes made for them gave Boun and Prem a break from the stress of doing hours upon hours of more work in front of the cameras this year. ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ๐ฌ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ If it wasn't for the prospect of over-work and stress, I'd be with all of those who would ask for 30% more of the Win-Team scenes. ๐
Seeing these two together in these scenes is already great stuff. . .from sleep cuddles at Win's to Team with another plate of food. I wish I still had that kind of metabolism. ๐ฅต
For me, the couples in play are now categorized as 'Hia & Team', 'Wan & T-Rex', 'Prince & Temple Dog', and Pharm & P'Dean. . .P'Dean. . .P'Dean'. ๐คฃ I haven't come up with one for Manow yet. I thought we were going to get a 'T-Rex' confession in this episode, too, but Tul is going to keep this a secret for another week. ๐คจ Wan hasn't connected the dots yet. ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ
After seven full episodes, we finally made it to the UWMA Open House Day, which means Pharm & Dean now have their hands on each other (red thread and all), and it's getting closer to Christmas in TV Land, too. โจโจ๐งฃ๐๐งฃโจโจ
Team's ability to eat has astonished me again in this show, as well. ๐ฅก๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ He ate with Win outside for lunch, went to a restaurant with the whole group later on (it's that red thread / soulmate scene we saw in UWMA), and then they went drinking with the ABC Gang afterwards. ๐คฃ
I've got a neutral opinion of that restroom scene that came after that. . . ๐ค For the production of the show, I'm sure the restroom we saw was triple-sanitized and scrubbed down, but that's not your average public restroom in the real world. ๐ต๐คข
But. . .if they washed their hands afterwards, I guess they're forgiven. ๐ I'm just waiting for Episode #8 to ease my curiosity that Bee isn't going to walk into the restroom, see them in action, and scream like a small child. ๐คท๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐ ๐ฝ
Besides Win & Team getting ever closer to fully confessing to each other, the other thing I liked with this relationship in #7 was how Win called Team 'adorable.' ๐ฅฐ That's one of my favorite words. ๐
You can call someone 'adorable' or call them 'cute', and they are supposed to be pretty much the same thing, but I see them as opposites. 'Cute' can be used as sarcasm or with disgust in a conversation, but 'adorable', to me, is easily five notches higher than 'cute' and always comes across as positive. โค๏ธ If I can catch myself, I'll always try to substitute one word for the other.
A lot like 'protective' and 'devoted'. . .which are supposed to be the same thing. I've always seen them like this: 'Protective' = "You Belong to Me, and I'll Keep You Safe". โ๏ธ 'Devoted' = "I Belong to You, and I'll Always Be There for You'. โค๏ธ
I'm odd that way. . .but that's the way my gears turn. . .โ๏ธโ๏ธ๐โ๏ธโ๏ธ
Onward we go to Episode #8, Christmas, and then that grueling two-week wait before Episode #9 on January 8th. ๐ฃ
Perhaps, for the Christmas episode, we'll get to see Win & Team out for a walk to see the Christmas lights like we saw in UWMA. ๐ *conveniently inserts broccoli*๐ฅฆ That has been the one scene that has gotten me through the anxiety and angst of the last several episodes here. . .I got to keep in mind that no matter how bad things looked, Win & Team would ultimately have to be on good terms by the time we got to the Christmas lights. ๐ฅฐ
Any chance the last episode will be longer? How are they going to wrap this up?
Love prevailed through this one, even though they left a lot of gaps and unanswered questions. ๐ Having Mom out of the episode made it a happy ending on that instance alone. ๐
Nhai proved that he can make the right decisions once in a while, even though he is always going to be high maintenance. ๐ค These two are stuck with each other in the blindness of love. ๐
You must be watching something I am not because this series is killing me. I am getting a headache from trying…
I've got way too much patience for a lot of the shows, but I'm basing my entertainment reference points off of US television. . .aka Andy Griffith marathons, four-hour blocks of Gilligan's Island, and Brady Bunch Reunion movies. ๐
Throw in the QVC Channel and Court TV, and I'd much rather take myself out of that arena and read subtitles for the next 16 years. ๐ฌ
I like watching Ohm and Fluke play off of each other, so I'll likely be one of the last to give up on this series. ๐ It's still early enough for everyone who's having doubts to still see things come together.
I've found that it literally takes an evil CEO, albino plants and five episodes of faked amnesia before I finally decide to leave the Blackjack table and walk out of the casino. ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐๐ฐ๐
My weakness, though, is probably going to be with the last two episodes of 'Remember Me'. ๐ The lug nuts are coming loose on all four of the wheels and it's going 85mph down the freeway. . . ๐คฃ . . .and I'm wearing a Beatles wig. . . ๐คฃ๐คฃ
I know just the cafe that serves it, too. ๐คฃ
