Such a beautiful metaphor for all 3 relationships! As I am (re)watching episodes, I feel strongly that the script writers did a brilliant job in the drama thus far. Yes, they had a great foundation in the novel, but the way they condensed the plot and used every moment for subtle characterizations is truly unique.

About QiQi being behind bars - I don't know how things will be developed in the drama, but in the book her father faces very serious accusations which could lead to the whole family's downfall. They manage to overcome this with help from the Cheng family.

Agreed, I would also describe it as friendly. I enjoyed watching their interaction in WRTW, but was never emotionally invested. I like that you reserve judgement regarding ZLS and WL's chemistry. I am too biased about everything LLTG, since it's the first time I am emotionally invested in a drama.

I am not 100% sure, but if memory serves me right, the former Crown Prince's wife dies during child birth. The 3rd princess calms down somewhat, tries to have a harmonious marriage, but is still involved in palace intrigue to gain more influence since she lost most royal favour.

The 5th princess lost most of her privileges as well and keeps fighting with her husband. Their arguments often become bloody (hair torn off, scratches etc), which is a source of gossip/amusement in the palace.

If I remember correctly, it was not clear in the novel who pushed him into the water. Just that it was a very dangerous situation because LBY did not know how to swim properly at the time.

Yes, I think we are meant to see the softer side of him.

I have a very similar impression to yours about WRTW. First part was great, then in second part plot became repetitive and ZLS's character had brief presence on screen for a long while, which spoiled things for me. I found the chemistry between ZLS and YY good, but hers with WL is off the charts.

Even the embrace is a slow burn, we are only getting to it increment by increment...

Have you tried Sound of the Desert? It's an older drama, but I enjoy the story and characters very much.

I love how you've micro examined that scene! I also hope this will be an interesting lesson for SS. The Empress and Consort represent two extremes, in my opinion. I would like SS to learn to be balanced - outspoken when necessary, yet also diplomatic when the situation requires it.

It's quite possible another project would be even better than LLTG, since now they know each other as team members and have established a work flow. I would love to see a second project, but no matter how good it is, I don't think it can replace LLTG in my heart!.

Very well said! I particularly like how you compared the 3 men to stages of love. It brought to my mind the seasons: LY spring (starting to awake to love); LBY summer (passion, intensity, upheaval) and YS autumn (grounded/stable, pragmatic).
