I haven't read the novel/manga. But I think one thing that's slightly confusing me is why is the ML being so nice…
I've read the novel... The translation is not the best, but ML is definitely an interesting character. I wish the author would have explored his psychology a bit more. In my opinion, he had to grow up very quickly due to the family situation. He also experienced emotional trauma and there is significant baggage, which may be at least hinted at in the drama. Although on the surface he is kind to everyone, this hides emotional detachment. Actually there are very few people he truly cares about and who are close to him. As a working adult and after his mother passed away, he became even lonelier.
The drama is confusing because we are not given proper context and the background stories. Probably that will happen later on. I think Sang Zhi as a teenager touched deeply his heart and, along with her family, helped restore his faith in people other than his mother. There is an emotional connection from early on that made him very protective of her.
I've watched the first 6 episodes and enjoyed them a lot. The intro reminds me to some extent of LLTG. Refreshing twists on some characters and usual plot devices, the drama has definitely pulled me in. I may also read the novel since I'm very intrigued.
how Zhao Lusi is as a person and an actress✿ according to love like the galaxy cast and production team: https://kisskh.at/discussions/xing-han-can-lan/106879-lltg-cast-and-production-team-on-zhao-lusi✿…
The drama is about redemption, so the Master (and the victim Mr Wu) agreed to let a way out for LiQuan to change.…
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Yes, let's hope for the best for everyone involved, including LQ. I was never able to warm up to his character. At first it was a vague feeling and then became more solid when TZ had fever after the snake bite. LQ looked at his long time friend with eyes lacking compassion or even emotion.

You've made a lot of interesting points. But I still find it puzzling that LQ never apologized to the people he hurt the most through words and actions - his teacher (main supporter) and TT.
Honestly this whole COVID arc I could have done without.... I would have preferred to have the confusion cleared…
Overall, I had a good impression of this drama. Only the MM plot truly bothered me on a number of levels, including story telling. However, now I will drop my rating since at least these last 3 episodes (the climax) have been rather pointless and anticlimactic.
Does it make sense for RXZ to go to a dangerous zone without clarifying TT's parentage? How hard can it be to say a few words over the phone? I simply don't understand this character. WSD is also playing dumb or amnesiac so nothing new on that front.
I feel like, after a decent development, the story suddenly nosedived and will fail to recover properly till the end. It is so dissapointing for me!
Curious for those who have seen the previews for the next couple of episodes:I was reading the text from the previews…
Just based on my intuition, I think RXZ will be very ill but will not die. After almost losing him, everyone will probably forgive his past actions. I have no idea when he will finally decide to clear up TT's parentage.
Yes I was just sitting there in disbelief over how RXZ and the grandpa is just acting as if everything is fine,…
Definitely agree! The drama has a recurring theme of entitlement where most men take for granted the support of women - whether in personal or professional lives. Only TZ grew out of this. Unfortunately, it is indicative of patriarchy, thus derived from reality. It also reminds me how TT was excluded twice from the TCM school for minor issues compared to LQ, who will probably get a slap on the wrist for what he did.
Maybe I’m being overly sensitive, but I was very ticked off that Li Quan’s mentor wasn’t even grateful for…
I second your opinion! It also baffles me why RXZ would ask TT - a young woman - to guard by herself WDS day and night. The situation could have turned dangerous at night. It actually did up to a point.
I am still hopeful for TT isn't his daughter. The way master RXZ said 'I told TT is my daughter '. The nuance…
I truly don't think TT is RXZ's daughter. It would be self-destruction for the drama. My problem is that there are so many filler scenes when we have only 4 episodes left. Why drag the explanation? I also hope for a happy and not too rushed ending for TT and TZ.
What just happened in ep. 36? Apart from my heart breaking for TT and TZ, there were loads of pointless discussions and hardly anything was clarified. RXZ and his father-in-law have this detached 'enlightened' attitude, which is frankly disrespectful to everyone else's feelings. The Ren family is falling apart and RXZ focuses on correcting LQ's mistakes, the guilty party and the one who started the whole mess.
What about his wife and son? What about TT? Now she supposedly has a father, in a couple of days she will have a different father or be an orphan once again. It is outright cruel to act in such a way.
But I have to say TT resembles RXZ's ideal daughter or son, unlike TZ. She broke down for a few hours, then picked herself up and went back to caring for WSD at the hospital. Not asking for an explanation from her mentor/father, only what treatment to apply next. Regardless of her parentage, TT was born to be a doctor or TCM practitioner.
What a mess....... I absolutely felt for LL and her mom because they are heartbroken (they have such a special…
What a mess indeed... I am disappointed in the script writing. I realize it was spur of the moment decision for RXZ, but he could have handled the situation in other ways. Even just RXZ saying he will look into the situation, let's wait for Mr. Wu to clarify things, this is not the time and place etc. It would be his word against LQ's venomous accusations.
However, the writers went with a scenario that causes maximum negative impact. How will RXZ clean up this mess? Good intentions aside, even after things are cleared up, such a lie is bound to hurt deeply everyone he loves.
On a positive note, I never thought I would grow so fond of TT and TZ as a couple. He has become so sweet yet mature in the way he loves her. I just hope they have the happy ending they deserve.
