I just realised that we've been talking about Chinese censorship, Shimei's gender swap, Rumors and Behind the scenes etc BUT we forgot the MOST IMPORTANT character in 2ha — who's Vegetable bag, the adorable chubby cat owned by Madam Wang (Xue Meng's mom) and loved by everyone in Sisheng peak. Here's how she's going to look like: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/592786369700854274/ https://www.pinterest.com/pin/592786369700854268/ They casted a cute cat, didn’t they? I like how she's actually chubby and not malnourished like most of animals in Cdramas *cough* horses *cough* and she's also really close to the actor playing Xue Meng. She was actually sitting on his lap in the pictures above and many fans often joke that she even looks like him lmao.
And to make it all even better, the scriptwriter uploaded on her weibo on Aug 28 that only vegetable bag is going to have additional scenes (low-key denying Shimei would have more scenes than he/she already does in the novel lol). So we can luckily expect to see her A LOT in the drama ^^
Honestly, I'll be pretty disappointed if Song Jiyang didn't get casted as Xie Lian. I don't have anything against other actors and I'll still support this drama even if he didn't play XL tho. It's just that the first thought that came to my mind when I saw him in CQL was "He'll be perfect Xie Lian" (even before 'Sony Jiyang as Xie Lian agenda' was a thing) and I've spent embarrassingly long time imagining him as XL since then lol. I'll try my best to keep my expectations low anyway.
It was hilarious, but the only thing I disliked is that they removed all the BL aspects even though it was adapted from a danmei novel. Not only was their 'bromance' extremely watered down, the writers literally made them BLOOD RELATED brothers which makes you feel like a weirdo if you ship them together (in the drama) and they also gave Zhao Qing Feng a random girl in the end... I haven't even read the novel yet I'm already annoyed by this adaption. I can't imagine how the poor novel fans must've felt when they expected at least a few crumbs of censored bromance between the leads, but got a full-blown straight romance instead.
On a positive note though, I LOVED dafu. He's the only character whose gayness couldn't be concealed no matter how much they censored him lmao. Dude 100% had a crush on the chief and stayed sassy, salty, fashionable, and jealous from the first episode till the very last. I guess it's not that bad to be a one dimensional character sometimes. Hope Song jiyang gets to play more chaotic neutral characters like him in the future.
I saw this line in chapter 125 of SPL "When the common people remember him, they most likely would fabricate a romance story a hundred and eighty times over, arrange him with an unknown woman in the midst of his hurried life, and they would elope together, all blessings could only be enjoyed after death." and my immediate thought was: That's kind of what they're going to do in the drama adaption, aren't they? Maybe or maybe not, but it does sounds like something chinese censorship would love for sure XD
Regarding the video clip you posted, if it's played off as a joke, there's no reason why it wouldn't pass censorship.…
My comment was never meant to be that serious, nor did my 'theory' (I honestly doubt It's even considered one lol). I was just trying to cheer everyone up because if you scroll down a bit, you'd see TONS of users complaining/upset about Shimei and I just wanted it to end, because what's the point in being disappointed already when the drama hasn't even aired yet? We didn't get a trailer either. All we have right now are just some speculations and behind the scene clips/photos.
Also, Chinese censorship works in mysterious ways. Sometimes they'd leave obvious bromance scenes alone whether they're played off as a joke or not, but other times they'll literally ban a whole drama because two same-sex characters breathed in the same direction. Their logic is harder to decipher than the Voynich Manuscript XD
Maybe Mo Ran just passed out on Wanning’s shoulder...That could have happened; they both use a lot of their…
Yeah they probably did used up a lot of their energy during the "fight" so it's understandable for Chu Wanning to lend him a shoulder as a responsible Shizun ;)
Not xixi's real fans and literally everyone who's aware of the fact that different body types exists in this world for sure. He's healthy and that's all that matters, there's no need for him to change himself and try dangerous dieting/workout methods to be more "muscular" (or whatever tf you want him to be) just because he doesn't suit a random internet user's taste. If you prefer guys like hulk then just go and swoon over someone else. No need to body shame him.
Istg literally every danmei character in existence who only owns white robes can be played by him, he was basically born to be casted as them in drama adaptions lol.
Honestly, I'm glad that they made Shimei female because literally ANYTHING can get past chinese censorship if you just squish a female character between the leads and if the writers try hard enough, they wouldn't even have to sacrifice their chemistry (not comparing but 'The Untamed' is the best example imo). But if anyone's still worried that they'll make it straight af, here's a lil treat from Feiyu himself to restore your faith in cdrama writers and low-key prove my theory: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=caeiCVrBn-g (Timestamp - 0:40). Now tell me, does this look like something you'd expect to survive China's lgbtqphobic censorship? Probably no, but it still did right? So let's not worry about Shimei. Cheer up! (๑>ᴗ<๑)
Edit: Nah I was completely wrong. They're straight. Absolutely straight. They're straighter than the frozen pole that I once got my tongue stuck on because I was trying to lick it like a dumbass kid I was. No gay detected. https://kisskh.at/photos/jv7bO_3
Why did they have to kill off the bandit smh (-—-*) Just because she wasn't going to end up with either of them doesn't mean she deserved to die in such a lame way... but I guess female characters worth nothing in 'bromances'. They're only there to either annoyingly chase the leads or get past the chinese censorship. What a pity since these three made such a great team and their fighting scenes together were amazing.
