Honestly, I'm glad that they made Shimei female because literally ANYTHING can get past chinese censorship if you just squish a female character between the leads and if the writers try hard enough, they wouldn't even have to sacrifice their chemistry (not comparing but 'The Untamed' is the best example imo). But if anyone's still worried that they'll make it straight af, here's a lil treat from Feiyu himself to restore your faith in cdrama writers and low-key prove my theory: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=caeiCVrBn-g (Timestamp - 0:40). Now tell me, does this look like something you'd expect to survive China's lgbtqphobic censorship? Probably no, but it still did right? So let's not worry about Shimei. Cheer up! (๑>ᴗ<๑)
Edit: Nah I was completely wrong. They're straight. Absolutely straight. They're straighter than the frozen pole that I once got my tongue stuck on because I was trying to lick it like a dumbass kid I was. No gay detected. https://kisskh.at/photos/jv7bO_3
Why did they have to kill off the bandit smh (-—-*) Just because she wasn't going to end up with either of them doesn't mean she deserved to die in such a lame way... but I guess female characters worth nothing in 'bromances'. They're only there to either annoyingly chase the leads or get past the chinese censorship. What a pity since these three made such a great team and their fighting scenes together were amazing.
Cherry Magic is raising standards so high, most BL-fans can't even see its height anymore.
Yeah lmao. It has raised my standards so high that I don't think I'll ever be able to watch another bl after this (unless it's just as well written ofc).
Everything in this drama is so unproblematic that it's actually a bit surprising, and just made me realise how low my standards/expectations on bls were that I'm surprised by a normal couple who sincerely care about each other and respect their boundaries.
Why are people giving it low ratings just because it was too 'dark' for them to handle? Like what else did you all expect after reading the synopsis, a fairytale? It's fine if it's not your cup of tea or even if you hate it, but leaving such low ratings while genuinely enjoying the movie is really disrespectful and discourages artists from showing us raw and realistic stories imo. It's far from just expressing your different opinions, it's unfair and misuse of the rating system. If you already knew what you were getting into, you don't get to rating bomb the movie for the exact same aspect, it's not like this movie tried to trick anyone.
Well, Li Qin and Darren Wang aren't some small actors so it's not that surprising for this drama to get so much attention. And even though Xiao Zhan isn't the first lead, he still plays a pretty significant character here.
I thought mdl was glitching or something lmao. I legit just stared at my phone screen in disbelief for half an hour because I really couldn't believe that it came out before I became a grandma.
Not trying to sound dramatic or anything, but the synopsis makes me feel so emotional as a closeted bi person... I'm really looking forward to this drama because I've rarely seen actual lgbtq+ struggles being mentioned in bls. Most of them seem to exist in a world where everyone's either a engineering student and gay or a creepy fujoshi calling themselves an "ally".
I got bored but I tried to keep going. I held on for 30 mins (at least until the teacher left) before finally…
The movie actually starts after the teacher leaves though. I kind of feel bad for people who judged it way too early and didn't get to see the plot twists later. It's like a roller-coaster ride, a bit slow in the beginning but that's what makes it so exciting when everything goes down in the end.
Idk why but it makes me really happy that there's not even a single negative comment about this drama. Everyone who has watched it seems to like it so far, I've rarely seen it happen before tbh. I think that just proves how good and enjoyable 'cherry magic' is ^^
I've never smiled so much while watching a drama before, my mouth literally hurts now lmao. This drama was so cute already and just seems to be getting cuter and cuter by each episode. Idk If my heart will be able to take so much fluff in the next episodes T^T
