Question: watched episode 1 and didn’t find the 2 main leads appealing or interesting at all... should I continue? I’m u familiar with the main actor and main actress... are they any good?

I just watched the first episode of Ashes and was not feeling the 2 leads... I’m also unfamiliar with their work, maybe that’s the problem! Should I continue the drama??? Does it get better??? I don’t like dramas with just pretty people I like dramas with substance.

In my opinion the problem is the chemistry between the couples. Ethan Ruan was an amazing actor but had zero chemistry with Yang Mi where as Vengo Gao is an ok actor but had great chemistry with the actress that plays Zhu Zhu.
I really wanted to love this drama! I love yangmi mi in Peach Blossom and Jade Palace but there was something lacking and almost irritating about her performance here... not sure what it was!

I found the main romance very boring for some reason. Maybe it was because they tried too hard to establish a sexual tension between them in the first half of the drama (almost kisses, water submersion and shirtless scenes)... I didn’t buy it. I prefer the sweet romance between the second leads... very touching and romantic.
