I know people view this drama as Chinese propaganda but I found it kind of sad that the idealism of these people a hundred years ago still hasn't been realised. When SJZ gave her speech about China being admired and respected around the world she had no idea of the chaos that was to come and suffering the CCP would inflict during the years of the Cultural Revolution. It just seemed sad that even today a select group of people is controlling what the population is allowed to think and to see.
I think the drama is starting to stretch credibility now by having Yibo look so good in his Red Army uniform. No one ever looked good in those uniforms. Or really any uniforms in that time period. Not that it's a complaint mind you.😎
Some people are so brainless that the only thing they're looking for in this drama is romance and bl when it's…
I don't understand why people seem to think that a story is worth nothing if there's no romance. There are so many types of story to be told and told well. Good story telling with interesting and compelling characters should not be so easily overlooked for the repetitive tropes of romance.
There are so many tags on all the dramas on this site and yet people still ask about romance. People interact in so many other ways that aren't for getting married and making babies. And there are no lack of romance stories to be found - my cable service has a whole channel that is JUST romance movies,.
I don't know that it is. China today, for all that the CCP wants to control what people think, still has the same degree of self serving greed and obscene wealth that they should have done away with by now. It's one of the reasons that communism just doesn't work in reality and governments have to spend their time convincing their citizens they have it good.
Mind you, it might be a different philosophy but the USA is just the same, convincing their citizens that even with all the poverty, injustice, racism and fear that they are living in the greatest country in the world.
is there a love story or only political\historiczl etc… ??! 🙏🏻
There are various love stories between different characters in their lives but it's not a romance by any means. But why did so many people suffer so many things in the past if not for love?
I'm only about half way through but how many more head injuries can WRL sustain before it starts to affect his behaviour ... still Yibo did say that people who hated him would enjoy him getting beaten up in Hidden Blade, they definitely get more torture for their dollar in this one.
And then they had to throw in that he was still weak from the blood transfusion while he was off being beaten and drugged and electrocuted. Banking is tough.
I must ask, is this worth the watch? Ive seen great reviews of this on douban and mdl, but these dramas always…
I'm finding it fascinating because from the outside perspective many of the characters seem to have very similar goals in terms of bringing China out of poverty. And yet today, even cloaked in propaganda there are still obscenely wealthy people in a nation where ideologically wealth should be more evenly distributed.
Lin Qiao Song!!! I am just loving this guy as a villain!!
I was surprised at how young he seemed since I'd mainly seen him in costume dramas like Journey to Love and Who Rules the World. Though he did a great job in JTL of taking a totally unlikeable character and making you fond of him by the end.
I love Jin Zhen. Most c-drama FLs are so stupid n childish and then comes her. There was the FL of 'Miss S' and…
The curious thing is that Miss S was a Chinese adaption of the Aussie series Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries and while they had to change a few things and get rid of all the sexual content, the essence was still there. And watching War of Faith I was reminded that this was exactly the time frame that Miss Fisher was set in Australia. Highly recommend the original.
I'm confused why some people have been saying the ending is ambiguous?
I also don't understand why people reacted so badly to the ending. Yes, it was sad, but I really appreciated the way we had meaningful moments for each character and that the focus was on the characters rather than the political stuff.
It's also kind of ironic that people seem to want more episodes since they'd just be fast forwarding through them. It seems so few people actually watch whole episodes. Is that why people don't understand the plot all that well, because they didn't take the time to follow it?
I actually wish there was a way on this site for users to show exactly what percentage of any drama they watched in real time, and how much was at accelerated speed and probably missing nuances and plot points that came from other characters.
You know many of us haven't seen the ending yet because only ep 34 has screened. What happened to spoilers on…
I just get 'fatal network error' messages from that site and nothing happens. And I have paid my VIP on iQIYI - I'm also watching with a friend but I do understand that others have no care, concern, interest or understanding of trying to avoid spoilers until the show has officially aired according to the official schedule on the official broadcaster. It still sucks though.
I wish people who have watched the fast path of the last 6 episodes appreciated that many of us haven't had the chance to see those episodes yet and had some consideration and used the spoiler button.
It's really sad to see people refusing to watch till the end because of the spoilers they've read here.
Well it is technically a suicide mission - so I guess in the end the chances of survival were very small. Plus this one is about the journey not the end and the journey is excellent.
I'm in Australia and watched half of ep 1 the other day, and now it's completely disappeared from Iqiyi, and only…
I'm also in Australia and a having no problems BUT there was one day when I got a message saying it wasn't available in my region but I just reloaded the page (I'm watching on the website) and it reloaded fine.
Apparently it's both depending on the platform you're watching on. Some of the last WeTV episodes were extended so they were apparently re-edited for Netflix which is why they have 43 instead of 40. So just stick to one place to watch.
Like the other user mentioned, the reason they all met was because of the suicide case. After that both Tao Ze…
I think perhaps the novel doesn't translate so well to a live action. I can imagine the depth that it has while the drama doesn't even show us any investigation just people watching cctv and sitting in an office. I can imagine that if you've read the novel it's much easier to follow. But that shouldn't be a requirement of watching any drama or movie and that's frustrating cos I've seen that it's quite a long novel.
Like the other user mentioned, the reason they all met was because of the suicide case. After that both Tao Ze…
Thanks for your insight. I figured the issue with Tao Ze was because Wei Zhao didn't want to have Pei Su around and meddling, just inserting himself into things and using Tao Ze as the weak link - as in he showed him the case file when he'd agreed not to. I know that was to make a point of the photos of the dead body. So he's kind of an amateur profiler sitting on the sidelines?
