Ah I'm struggling. I love Xiao Zhan but I'm just not enjoying his choice of drama work. I didn't enjoy Ace Troops and Oath of Love is the kind of romantic comedy that doesn't hold my attention. He's great as always but I don't want to feel like it's a chore rather than a joy to support his work. sigh
Rant coming up...I am really struggling with the secondary couples and I have a tough enjoying with their inclusion…
I'm left feeling that her friends are only there to be roadblocks and sabotage to her relationship as you can't tell from one episode to the next if they're trying to help her, thwart her or just meddling. And why in these kind of dramas is the FL supposed to take relationship advice from someone who isn't even in a relationship. And I wouldn't trust Sansan because she's just a manipulator, leading some guy by the dick to get what she wants, and judging all men by her own low standards.
It's actually sad that Lin Zhixiao doesn't have any friends who actually care about her interests over their own egos and meddling. I feel sorry for Gu Wei inheriting her friends as part of the relationship. And I just don't see the relationship lasting if LZX spends too much time listening to her friends.
Watched 2 episodes and i feel its boring.. does it get better ? 🤔 had high hopes for it
If you like this kind of romantic drama then you will probably love it. I'm only watching for Xiao Zhan and he makes it worth suffering through the smothering sabotage of the family, friends and script around them and the inability of the FL to actually act like an adult and overcome her tendency to compulsive lying.
Actually most of the characters we see in dramas are inspired from real life persons. Don't forget that you are…
yeah it's just not my genre because even though this drama has a reasonably low number of episodes my brain can't help but shrivel at what convenient roadblocks the script will come up with to make it last that long.
And I do like the main characters, even though I do have issues with the controlling, manipulation parents and friends. I was never raised in an environment where my parents didn't want me to become an adult so the suffocating family drama is probably something cultural that doesn't resonate with me either. And I don't see the supposed humour in a daughter who has to constantly lie to her parents because of the family dynamic and her own immaturity.
Poor Dr Gu is hardly an adult either, especially now he's living in an apartment decorated so much like a teenage girl lives there. But then again, when their families don't let them grow up, I guess that's how it goes. At least he does manage to speak up for himself. I just wonder if his attraction to LZX is partly because he's realising the impulsiveness of youth that he missed out on.
I also hope that no one is paying that music school for any tuition cos she never seems to get any.
But as I said, this really isn't my type of drama and I while I love to watch Xiao Zhan as an actor, his choice of roles (and I found Ace Troops really hard to get through) just don't seem to be ones that hold my attention.
But I am hanging in there and hoping they can finally speak up before their parents marry them off to other people - and then they reconnect and get married in middle age or something.
I guess this is why I don't watch these kind of romance dramas because the plot is only designed to manipulate the characters and the audience. I know real life has hurdles but characters who won't even go to the source to resolve a miscommunication lose my sympathy. Along with the fact that so much of the 'drama' is driven by characters who are selfish and self serving. And then we have to pad things out with more unlikeable minor couples who can't just be friends of the main couple, they have to hook up too.
And for the record in comparison, You Are My Hero did not drag me down with the same level of turgid melodrama.
i think this schedule might be messed up, episode 10 has just been released but the calendar is on ep 13
And now the WeTV original/dvd version has held back episode 11 because the tv version is over an episode behind. I think they both have about the same content but when you run one at 35 mins and one at 45 minutes they're just getting further and further out of synch.
So I don't know what the 29 episode count means, probably the WeTV version since it is original/DVD - the tv version will probably have 32 or 33 episodes to show the full story.
I think poor WeTV got screwed on this because it's classified as a tv drama and Hunan tv can't find room in their schedule to show the episodes as designed. Who knows that kind of ridiculous stuff has gone on behind the scenes to further jerk this drama around. It also means that the tv episodes end at weird places. But at least it's finally screening.

Is it possible for people to say which version they're watching when quoting an episode? I know at this point - ep 7 of Original WeTV and ep 8 of TV vers - there's only about 15 minutes of extra episode in the tv vers as of now, but that means most of what is in ep 8 of the TV vers was in ep 7 of the Original WeTV version.
It really is confusing. And I gather within a few days the WeTV version will have to hold back an episode when it's episode contents are a full episode ahead since the gap is closing by about 10 minutes every episode because the TV vers has a much shorter run time. I still can't imagine how they're both going to have 29 episodes.
Is there would be any breakup... According to novel?
If the description of the drama above is taken from the novel, and it has little relationship to what we're seeing. I don't think knowing about what is in the novel will have a lot of relationship to the drama.
Wow that's a lot of the drama they're going to have to cut on Hunan to have the same number of episodes then with it already being about half an episode behind after only 5 episodes - with 17 mins of ep 5 being the first part 17 mins of ep 6 on Hunan.
Or maybe Hunan have to start running two hour episodes to catch up at some point?
So, I've been watching the Online (DVD) version episodes from 1-5 on WeTV then I decided to watch episode 6 on…
Yes they're not cutting bits out on the tv version they'e just randomly stopping. And if it's up to 17 mins in episode 5, it won't be long till they're a whole episode behind.
I know the episode count says 29 but is that Hunan or WeTV.?
The first 10 minutes of the tv version of episode 4 are the last 10 minutes of the wetv episode 3. At this rate, 29 episodes on Hunan are only going to be 24 episodes on WeTV.
Hunan aren't cutting bits out of the eps, they are just ending the episode at some random point so they run shorter.
That's because the Tv version is edited due to censorship by Hunan... They have cut out a lot of scenes, that's…
the scene that is cut from the end of ep 2 on the tv version that is on the wetv version of ep, is the start of ep 3 on the tv version - it's not cut, it's in the next episode with only a few lines missing.
And why would they need to be censored if they've been approved for broadcast by the censorship board. I'm guessing it's because Hunan tv wants to fit more into a smaller space or has a lot of commercials to run whereas WeTV doesn't have the same constraints.
There's certainly nothing to censor in the cut lines because they.re the same argument they had before about her taking an exam. And they do the FL an injustice by cutting them.
So I would recommend just watching the WeTV version for sure.
Can anyone tell me the release schedule of this drama on WeTV? Is it 2 eps per day?
It looks like WeTV is running the same drama at two different speeds. So it's very confusing. You'll just have to see what episodes are there on either one when you're ready to watch it.
Finished episode 2 and had to laugh at the product placement of roseonly - is Xiao Zhan still their spokesperson? He certainly was when this was filmed and it probably explains why they stayed with him through all the crap in 2020.
It's also interesting that it seems to be a drama trope that families have little respect for doctors in hospitals. As well as the fact that Chinese families are always struggling to afford medical care because the government doesn't provide universal healthcare, a lot like the US. What a relief for those of us who live in countries where we don't have to fret about that.
Also the latest update from WeTV seems to indicate that the TV Ver of the drama, which has currently 2 episodes and VIP, is only updated at midday (China time) and not overnight. This might be why people couldn't find episode 2 earlier. We will see after tonight's episodes air exactly what it's going to look like and whether the other page they have on WeTV just updates one free episode a day at 2200 (China time)
Any idea why they separate like that? Both ep 1 seemed the same.
I don't think they're different someone just didn't post it to the right page with the trailers and previews - who knows why or if WeTV will fix it since the link they're tweeting is to the one with only one episode

for example
Ep 2
tv ver - 42.31
wetv - 46.41
ep 3
tv - 35.07
wetv - 45.10
Episode 1 was the same length for both.
