On Story of Yanxi Palace Feb 25, 2021
FL is probably one of the most intelligent, composed and determined bad@ss characters I've ever come across. I guess it's just too hard to have a character like this in more romantic storylines since it's almost impossible to find a worthy partner for them. (I'm not into the harem romance & though he was a king/emperor, I thought she was too good for him.)

I really enjoyed the story in this one--a lot more than I did the lead romance, actually. I did find their relationship interesting because it seemed so 21st century & the worries of fitting together as a couple were very relatable. I guess I missed out on some feels cuz I didn't see it as an equal partnership but rather someone's misguided idea of feminism. You know, a role reversal in that she was playing the stereotypical man's role of being "strong" & distant & he was playing the stereotypical woman who was "weaker," clingy & so obviously in love. I don't like lop-sided partnerships so maybe that's on me.

Lee Da Hee is great here, though. She is kick-ass & adorable at the same time. Her love story was super cute but the guy was on the eccentric side for me. (I couldn't get into the dog thing; it bugged me.)

My favorite couple was actually the older couple. Their relationship was fun & so different.
Odd camera close-ups & angles but overall, well done. Music is fun & it was pretty. Great watch! Totally binge-able.

idk what ep you're in but do tell me does prince jin marry that annoying princess wan'er
I stopped @ Ep 35 & while there was a divorce plot line, it all worked out okay in the end & he didn't marry the princess. (I can't imagine they'd do it in the last 5 episodes, so I think not, but you never know.)

Visually gorgeous movie with a kinda arthouse vibe. From the music (chill electronica + a few songs) to the camera filters which captured the contrasting scenery of the mountains and the cities, it was such a lovely voyage. You don't get too attached to the characters but what they say resonates, which makes it feel as though they are just passing through. ;). I think I may have to stalk this director now, haha.

Okay, am 3/4 of the way finished & can they pleeeeease stop using the scheming & framing of the FL as a plot device? It's like the 5th or 6th time, holy moly, what else is really going on in the story anymore? I don't think I've ever actually felt the itch to jump through the screen and slap some of the stupid outta some characters before. Just bewarned that your frustration level will rise in this show. FL seems smart but when it counts, is a trusting fool. Typical c-drama bait and switch there. Sooooooo painful to watch again and again ad nauseam. GREAT start, though, and if you're missing your Legend of Yun Xi characters, here is your fix. ;p

I am enjoying this story so far! The chemistry between the OTP is decent, she's cutesy but not annoying & I like the magic element--though I haven't seen it in about 10 episodes. :( A big compliment from me is whether or not I finish the drama, since I either drop or put on hold so many c-dramas for a train wreck plot line, imploding characters, Melo madness or poor pacing so we'll have to see..

Why have the FL be continuously tortured like that, tho? Definitely a little too much of THAT for my liking...

on eps 8 & both leads are only starting to grow on me. She's immature & annoying but at the same time cute & funny. He's really unlikeable at first but I'm glad the bonus scenes gave a little extra perspective. I just thought I'd like the main couple a little more after almost 1/3 of the way into the drama. Huh.

FYI Viki peeps: it's titled "Love Myself or You" there. I like both leads & I love the supporting cast, wow, it's like a reunion from so many different t-dramas. I know Puff & Jasper are friends irl & it shows on the screen but I'm not feeling the pacing on this one, which we all know tends to be a problem in many t-dramas.

Fun & watchable but kinda stupid. Oh god, I knew it was stupid when I read the synopsis but I though the romance would save it. It didn't. :( The girl was cute & I kept waiting for the guy to figure it out. A LOT of potential here & the production quality is decent. So, I agree with the previous post: "there are worse ways to spend 2 hours." 'Nough said.

So, let me correct those of you who think this is a romantic comedy. It's not really, though it feels like that for a little while with the high school beginning. There is enough romance and comedy to satisfy those of you who've come looking for it (I did, ngl) but then it takes a serious backseat to the investigation & mystery that start piling up around our main characters 1/2 -2/3 of the way through. It would have been nice to watch the MC lean on each other a little more as partners romantically besides professionally, but that's maybe personal preference. We get 15 minutes at the end of sweetness to make up for it? Not enough for me. It ended with a fizzle rather than a bang but besides that, it was a well-written, interesting & clever story. I binge-watched until the end, too. Good characters & well-plotted. His supernatural ability is cool. You do need to pay attention because this is more a mystery/investigative/thriller drama than the other tags of romance/ comedy/ fantasy. Viki had it tagged as "idol drama, romantic comedy & fantasy" which was even more misleading! I wish I would've known that going in but no worries, my time was not wasted. :)

This is sooooo my jam! Characters in a manga becoming self-aware & trying to change their prewritten story? I'm IN. I'm liking the shorter 32 episode pacing since it makes it easier to binge-watch; seriously, the momentum was great & kept me up until the wee hours during the work week to finish it in three days. (I struggle to finish dramas so anything that hooks me I'll give higher scores for enjoyment value.) I don't usually like school dramas but the characters don't feel super young, there's magic (I'm a sucker for it), a double storyline, stimulating cinematography & there's a lot of playful poking humor at dramas/ romance manga comic books. It's a fun ride but I was surprised by how many times I cried.

Can I say the songs were GREAT, too?!?! I was totally grooving at the end of a few episodes & some of the scenes with the OST brought back first drama feels for me. It's not perfect-- there were some plot issues and somewhat unresolved storylines (kinda sacrilege in as story like this), the end could've been sweeter, & the ML's nose job could've been less distracting, but the FL is GOALS, guys. Loved her so much! <3 <3

just starting watching this and had to come here to check out the real deal, haha. Visually stunning show...I mean daaayyymmm, the perfect mix of CGI & stage sets. The songs are good but not as good as TMOPB. I LOVE the FL, she's the cutest character. Similar to Dilraba's fox character but not as playful. The ML delivers the driest humor & has strength, integrity, intelligence & this expressive watchful gaze. Yah, he's not eye candy but Ni Ni more than makes up for it imo. I guess I don't need my MLs to be 18 year old pretty boy idols...

I am on episode 13 & I hope it starts to pick up more. I can see how you would give up cuz it's soooo sloooowwww in the romance & story development. I am trusting it, though, cuz so far it's quality.

I truly feel for those who found THE Eternal Love instead of TMOPB after being recommended to watch it. It was a straight-up trashy snack food drama while TMOPB was this beautiful seven course feast. I enjoyed both because I like the sweet n' salty fun dramas just as much as the more delicately crafted ones but imagine you weren't expecting it, lol! My philosophy: why choose when you can sample them all? nom nom

Haven't watched Pillow Book yet but I just started Love and Destiny! It's a beautiful production & the OTP rocks.

The script is a mess. The premise get sidelined. The production company obviously try to promote the 2nd couple.…
I know... their chemistry is so good, even without the kisses I was craving. The plot isn't clean, meaning you have to assume several connections that aren't explicitly stated & the editing is noticeably rough. Music was all over the place & was even jarring during important scenes. Yes, the songs are great but there are so many instances where there's no background music at all & then boom-all of a sudden an OST. I think if this story was handled more delicately in the editing room, it would've been a much stronger story. I'm on Episode 20 (I'm stopping for a moment because I'm really mad at the FL; I hate miscommunications & actions based on assumptions drawn from them) and I'm hoping the precognitive dreams start to play a stronger part in the story. Right now, I feel cat-fished. :(

is this drama focus too much on political stuff?i am not really in the mood for serious stuff
haha, you & everyone else. Who wants to watch a show on politics with what's going on in the world right now? (Especially those of us in the states!)

100% recommended. It's a rom-com, so while she's in political office for most of the show (unlike City Hall which spent more time on the process of getting elected, which was boring imo) she gets to DO stuff & act as an advocate for the people as well as fight corruption. Her character is over-the-top & hilarious. ML is a GREAT match for her, too. While there are some more serious plot events that happen with the corrupt politicians against her, it felt more like shady business dealings than politics to me but looking through the comments, I guess that's not the case for everyone. I would watch the first episode (the camera angle is different so it feels weird at first; be prepared but you'll like it for the gorgeous shots later) & if you like her & the tone of the show, you'll like the rest of it. Nana is EXCELLENT here, wow. She's outspoken & not-afraid-to-get-physical, though I think she could've used about 25% less force & it would've been just as effective comedically. (I don't enjoy reality or any semblance of one in my dramas so it didn't bug me like some of the other commenters.)

On Love Is Sweet Dec 22, 2020
This was cute but the last 6 episodes were completely unnecessary imo; they could've done the tie-up in two. Really great "real couple" chemistry from these two & Leo played the typical overbearing ceo-but-not role well. I liked seeing him SMILE for a change, lol. He was just adorable after he stopped being such a controlling @$$ and Demoness Bai was much better here than in "The World Owes Me a First Love."

Watch it for the romantic feels because that's mostly what it's there for: lotsa sweetness, hugging, skinship & kisses, yay. (omg I watched an interview & Leo admitted that Bai Lu gave him clips of kdrama kisses to check out cuz their first one was so bad!)

I took a break from this a couple of weeks ago when I realized Viki hadn't finished uploading all the episodes, let alone sub them and I ended up rewatching Eternal Love again. For some reason, this show made me feel nostalgic for it. Not that they have the same style but quality I would say is on par so far. I'd have to see if the OST also matches TMOPB but so far, the characters, story, sets, costumes & effects do! I'm going to to binge this one on winter break, haha.

On Legend of Fu Yao Sep 9, 2020
This has been lingering on the shelf for me for a while and now I know why:
First 20 episodes were GREAT. omg if they kept that level of momentum in the story it would've been a helluva ride. But they didn't...and unfortunately fell into a typical fantasy trope where you spend too much time on one thread of the story that is a rope of many threads---probably for equality purpose, who knows! Anyway, even though Fuyao was THE most badass FL I've ever seen in a fantasy role (no, really...that last "battle" scene was epic) I wish she would've been portrayed by an actress with more range. Hopefully I don't get hate for that! ;p. I know the stare needs to look unaware but it doesn't have to look blank, yikes! I felt like this character was incredibly layered as an individual, like enough to want to read this book because it sounds like something right up my reading alley but Yang Mi couldn't carry the part off. imho. Especially the romance. Sorry. :( Didn't feel it at the level I should've. Even with Ethan Juan acting his little heart out, too.

On I’m a Pet at Dali Temple Aug 19, 2020
Because I love fantasy and especially magic & time travel, I've been interested in this but I know that poor writing, poor acting and/or poor production runs rampant within this genre. I'm at episode 6 now that we have full subs ;p & it just started improving from the ridiculousness it started out with. (Really. Just embarrassing. ) The leads are adorable even though the writers or the director made her more of a ditz & brat that they needed to--though at least she has a fun & watchable personality; so far he's the typical tsundere w/o a personality but he's starting to pay attention. I think the cat concept is cute and I love any time the show has a pet. The "meow" after the opening song & at the end of each episode, hahaha, total cheeseballs. I'm still curious how they might incorporate more physical awareness scenes like the one where he's changing and she's watching him as a cat. Petting the cat knowing it's her...idk, some situation that would give me more feels from them. Maybe I need to wait a couple more episodes for the feels--hey! there're only 22 of them so let's go, lol. (update: end of Ep 10 is when I got the feels) At least I'm already aware of the ending going in & it's a short, (very) light watch so I won't be too attached. I didn't recognize the Well-Intended Love guy w/o his trademark hair!! XD
