You are right at the end of the day good scriptwriter and a director can make or break a drama. Just look at last year na how many S/S+ class dramas flopped because of bad directing and script and how many low cost dramas have risen thanks to good script and directing.
I think nowadays Xk knows what he is looking for in a script and is picking very good dramas.

I hope her drama is modern , she filmed back to back three costume dramas and all of her rumored dramas for now are also costumes. Miss her in modern settings.

Same, plus xianxia plots if not done right are so overused these days, so many S class xianxia dramas flop or underperform . Plus the synopsis of those two doesn’t even sound that interesting and for the 2nd one the rumored script writer is awful.

Seriously xianxia dramas these days are a risk. We need a very good scriptwriter and a director to make it work and not be the same repetitive stories. I just hope she gets a good production next.

I think it has to do also with jaywalk being a bad agency and not managing her well. But what you said it’s most likely true as well. For an actress with such a big fanbase that can compete with male actors not to be promoted and to rely on her fans only it’s such a stupid move. If they actually put effort in promoting her dramas she will bring them so much more profit. To me it seems they don’t want to use resources to promote her since they know the fans will do the work. Plus everything is all about connections, if you have good connections you are set for life. Just look at he movie industry, all the actor/actresses that act in movies are with immense connections it’s so rare for someone to make it without huge backing .
I just hope she leaves jaywalk this year, create her own one man agency and do whatever she wants with her career.
