Is the first season of this worth watching if there won't be a second? I was literally just about to start this…
Yes, you should be fine. Just try not to get too invested in the main couple, stick to the series, enjoy it and move on, would be the best advice I can give you.
Hello everyone! I am sure most of us have heard the news. I am honestly not sure how to feel about this.
I thought something shady was going on behind the scenes when the announcement about smart's management came out in May. In that sense I am not completely blindsided, but I am very confused as to how I should feel about Smart in this whole situation. Is Smart really a pawn between these companies or did he actually deep down only saw this project as an opportunity for self promotion to pursue what he really wanted to do all along which is music ??? Whatever the case may be, if the character he showed to the fans was genuine I am reluctant as to whether he is actually going to say anything about this or even take some drastic action because the image I got from him is not someone that's very argumentative or initiates situations, to me he seemed more gullible.
I honestly feel sorry for Boom. I think he didn't have no idea whatsoever. With all these statements I can't help but be left with more questions than answers. I genuinely wonder what does Smart's company have on him to be keeping him under their management with no apparent reaction from Smart's side. It's either that or all of this was indeed a decision made from both parties and Smart for some odd reason didn't want to continue any further. If that's the case ,who in their right mind would convince him that a project that has aired for such short period would grand him a strong and solid fan base to not be needing the Topform/Smartboom franchise anymore and go ahead and proceed with a solo career like nothing happened. I hope nothing actually happened with smartboom to lead him in that decision.
These are the thoughts running through my head right now. I will be waiting for a direct or even an indirect message from Smart because in whatever place he is in if he chooses to not address anything at no point it the near future (max a year) I can't help but feel like our love and attention was manipulated, therefore i will no longer be supporting him.
Regarding the continuation of the series I personally see no way the series can thrive for even a second season without the foundation which is Smartboom. They would have to have the best screenwriters and producers to pull that off and I have NEVER seen that in Thai cinema be it movies or series.
Sorry for the rant. I honestly would love to hear your thoughts and things I may have missed out on.
if people in Korea already saw it ? shouldn't there be spoilers online somewhere to how it ended and if anyone…
I've looked as many comments on it as i possibly could. From what i saw there's not even 1 comment about someone dying. Most people are complaining because it felt weirdly put together since they had to cut out a lot for the movie. Even the Koreans are waiting to watch the series instead.
So, I made a post back when this was premiering in Korea, and indeed after all the movie was 118 minutes in which i also mentioned that a lot of Korean viewers that saw it at the cinema had made some comments on how it felt choppy & had plot holes since they had to cut a lot of scenes out in order to play it as a movie in Korea. Having that in mind i thought it was going to be 10 episodes 10 minutes each, however when the first two episodes came out on Viki being that long I was puzzled and quickly came to delete my comment since i didn't want to mislead people. It turns out there will be indeed 10 episodes but 30-40minutes each which I am so happy and surprised.
At the time i didn't know the director/writer was German and not Korean but the more i thought about it, it all made sense. I think he intended it to be a series from the beginning but since there are no Korean broadcast stations on TV marketing such shows and especially something that's a foreigner's work i think they had no choice but to go forward as a movie in Korea. And i can't believe i am even saying this but i truly believe this time international fans really got the best and most out of it.
As for the visuals and the story, unfortunately I think i have to admit we like how different it is and it feels like a breath of fresh air from Korea because it is not made/shot by a Korean. I am not trying to slam Koreans directors, they are more than amazing and have proved that with so many amazing works, however to me at least, they definitely have their own distinct style. I feel like this director is showing areas of korea that are rarely shown and his points of directing each characters emotions are rather raw and more realistic if you will than most korean shows which tend to almost put a filter of rose coloured glasses and those unrealistic slow motions, we all know what i mean i hope.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED FOR THE ENDING HERE IS MY THEORY. FEEL FREE TO LEAVE ANY COMMENTS.
I'll say it as simply as i can. I don't think we'll have a tragic ending and here is why :
First of all by tragic i mean someone will die, that does not include them not ending up together. Not all relationships are meant to last forever, and that's not bad nor does it mean it was failure or not worth it.
I think Jae Won clearly had a younger brother that is no longer alive. And i believe that is the main root of his problematic relationship with his parents. I think he was present when some sort of accident happened with his brother most likely in the sea. I think that is the reason we are getting angsty vibes, and i pretty sure Jae Won is having ptsd symptoms. At the beginning of the episode when he was seen talking to a older woman most likely a therapist i think that he is talking about his brother and not Ji Hyun's potential death.
Since this story is not only longer in episodes but also in episode length I am pretty sure that as the synopsis here on drama list states whatever happens at the end of episode 2 ( beginning of 3 ) between them at the beach, Jae Won is going to be having some sort of denial and going back an forth with his feelings. My theory for the therapist is that he is there sort of in the middle of the series to sort out his trauma, fears and figure out what to do with Ji Hyun. He doesn't want in my opinion to put someone under his wing again and have them be hurt or even worse die.
UPDATE : Props to the Korean director as well. I hope mydramalist updates their information and he gets credit as well .
My dear Neung, you can't have your cake and eat it too, you can't be all happy to have someone and get mad when Palm wants someone to lean on as well. You gotta choose. But i think if you really let yourself you know who you want!!!
Palm & Nueng VS Ben & Neung Theory ( for upcoming episodes ) !!!
Neungs' feelings : So simply put I get the feeling that Neung never really got close friends. When Ben approached him he must have felt flattered and seen Ben like a breath of fresh air. In contrast to when he saw Palm for the first time at least for me, I can totally get the difference in the air, in his eyes.
Ben's feelings : I think he had ulterior motives wanting to approach Neung to begin with. Whether it's for some mafia reason or he was always kind of into him from a far, it's not clear yet, but I think we can agree that he never really just wanted to be his friend. Why didn't he approach him before his father died, why did he wait for him to be in a vulnerable place to make a move?? these are some questions going on in my mind, which i think will be answered in the upcoming episodes.
Palm's feelings : I think he is the simplest of them all for me to honest. He clearly was attracted to Neung from the get go, later got the chance to see his personality and how much pure hearted and non materialistic Neung is and got even more invested in him. He is being pulled towards him without fully realising it yet. He is however clearly holding back with both his behaviour towards Neung and how much he allows himself to feel for him due to his status in the family and the role he was given.
2 POSSIBLE DIRECTIONS FOR THE BEN NEUNG PALM TRIANGLE :
- Either Neung gives a chance to Ben not realising his feelings, and the difference between being flattered Vs actually being in love, but once he get's into it with Ben does he realise that his heart is with Palm
OR
- Is aware of the difference in his heart and cuts Ben from those romantic ideas before they even get to do anything.
I think for plot purposes the first scenario is more likely + the possibility of finding out Ben's intentions were not so pure as they seem.
Let me know what you think, or if i may have missed something
I just stumbled upon the new teaser they just uploaded on youtube for the finale, unfortunately there were no english subtitles but all i can say is we better not see history repeat itself.
As happy and excited as I was when I first found out about the existence of this series, I feel like the ending will really make it or break it for me. Just the cinematography cannot save a show I am afraid. I have already felt for a while that the episodes have been recycling themselves for weeks. I am not one to chase after happy endings at all, but what I can't tolerate is a series marketing itself as deep and different only to teach us nothing in the end. In fact, I only rate series from 8 and above if they teach the audience something no matter how much I enjoyed a show/movie.
As of right now, I feel like I gave this show many chances but I can't see the vision anymore.
Brace yourselves people cause it's going to be a long one. I have been holding this on since i started watching…
Long story short the story can go into 2 main directions:
- In & Wang together
- In & Wang apart : If the show chooses this route then i guess the moral lesson of the story is 3 people finding their way in the world. Mol faces reality with or without Wang by her side, Wang found purpose and meaning therefore goes to study philosophy, and In learns to live for himself and put others in the backseat once and for all in his life. Unfortunately this sounds more like the direction it's going to go since it's the only option pushing all 3 people into a new life.
Either way i hope they find a middle ground, but here's what I know for sure.
- Mol is set in her ways
- Wang wasn't and never will be someone that's going to sacrifice himself for other's wellbeing
- In is going to be the deciding factor for me on this one. I am almost curtain ONLY his decision holds the ending for this show and all 3 characters.
Brace yourselves people cause it's going to be a long one. I have been holding this on since i started watching the show.
1. The mother is very self centered, i think everyone can see that. My thing is no matter how many times Wang expresses his pain and sadness even before In, she always seems to disregard his feelings, it's like she is the only one in the world that's being lonely, hurt or betrayed. My guess is she had peeked on Siam having feelings for In long before they were a thing. What did she do? she again disregarded everyone else thinking that with her 'holy' love Siam will be able to forget and she'll get to live her fairytale. To me this woman is not a case of someone that has been hurt in life so she is looking for an escape, this is someone that from what's being mentioned NEVER had a touch with reality. Her corruption didn't start after Siam's death, she was sneaky and had ulterior motives all along. Wang is not someone she loves as a mother, he is her last hanging strand of hope to keep on living this fantasy, he is in fact the only tangible thing between her and Siam cause everything else was in her head. She is using Wang as her proof to people that there was love between them. I never once felt sorry for her being alone and lonely and you know why?? cause she was the one creating fake and superficial relationships with people to begin with, it's only fair that when it's all said and done you'll be left alone, that's the price of her own doings. Of course she is not aware of it.
2. In on the other hand is actually quite the opposite from her. He puts everyone else above himself. Mol knew very well what she was doing befriending both of them, she created guilt inside of him so that if and when the day came for him and Siam to be together he would be unable to proceed knowing he'll be hurting another human being. She manipulated him then & she's is trying to do the same now. I think he genuinely sees her as a friend, she was the 2nd friend he ever had remember? She only saw him as ends to a mean.
3. Wang is a young boy searching for meaning in his life. I don't necessarily think he was old enough to remember so much from his father, but since he is someone that questions the world around him, his father seemed like the most appropriate person to look up to in comparison to every corrupt person around him trying to fit the mold. Naturally, he is going to look for what love looks like in his age, it happened to be In for now. While the show is not long enough for us to think whether he's feelings for In are something new to him therefore he can't but act on them or in the end end up being infatuation which would fit more for his age.
I’ll try to get right to the point with my thoughts since most people don’t have the patience to be reading long paragraphs. Here’s a structure of how I think episode 5 is going to unfold.
PART 1
AFTERMATH ( here I believe we are going to see how every character is doing after what happened and the consequences of their actions )
PART 2
DEPRESSION ( this will be the point of hopelessness and giving up )
PART 3
ACCEPTANCE ( at this point there is finally a realization of feelings and the situation of what has happened )
PART 4
CHOICE ( here after realizing their feelings and accepting what has happened each and everyone has to decide how to go on about their future together or not )
According to the official spoilers provided by nadao if you combine the pictures with the trailers, I think it’s pretty clear to everyone that they will be standing together watching the sunset. Friends or not we don’t know. I also don’t know whether that is going to be the closing scene. I don’t think it’s going to be a sad ending in a sense that no one is going to die or even Oh-aew deciding to be with Bas, no I don’t think so. Rather I’ll bet my chances to an open ended finale in a sense that they will admit their feelings to each other but we’re not actually going to see that up until the last 10 minutes of the episode, let alone seeing them actually holding hands in public and being official to everyone around them. What I am mostly worried about though, is Teh not passing his exam and having to stay in Phuket for another whole year studying so that he can reapply next year while Oh-aew is going to be in Bangkok this whole year, so they are going to be apart even though there is no longer an obstacle for them to be together. I also wish to know what Teh’s wish was at the temple in episode 3. If it was up to me, I would have dedicated the whole last part of the show of them just being together spending time with each other without holding back anymore, for some reason I feel like I couldn’t fully enjoy their sweet moments because of the fear of who’s going to mess it up next, so it would really be a breath of fresh air seeing them happy and sweet to each other with all the fear gone. If they end it on the note of them just admitting their feeling to each other while watching the sunset and then that’s it, I feel like why even bother when you’re not going to show us them being together for even a minute. The feeling I hate the most is bittersweet, which unfortunately is the feeling ruling real life. I hope for at least the last episode we can get a glimpse of real sweetness with finally all the bitterness and struggles of these past 4 episodes gone. I wish good luck to everyone on their journey after the show and I really enjoyed this comment section like no other, I hope we meet again my friends, until the next sunset meets you I hope you’re a better version of yourself like the characters in the show!! xoxo
ATTENTION!!! SPOILERS GIVEN BY THE MAIN ACTORS ABOUT THE FINALE
Interviewer: Is there anything you want to say to the audience that is looking forward to watching the last EP?
PP (Oh-aew): We are reaching the last EP. The storyline is very intese. The last EP is of course the conclusion of the series. Tune in to see the ending.
Billkin (Teh): Pretty much the same as PP. EP5 will tell how the characters decide, and how the relationship will be. So it's important for you to watch EP5 as it will say it all
So, I see everyone is a mess after the trailer for episode 5. But, instead of a trailer I would call it a teaser because i think they're just playing with us trying to trick us into thinking Oh-aew is going to end up with Bas, but I think what we saw on episode 4 where Bas visited Oh-aew in his house and asked him how he can help, it may actually be just that. They may actually be doing this on purpose, that way there is a possibility of Teh actually realizing what he is feeling. I don't think what was shown in the trailer is something more than friends between them. So from my perspective calm down everyone this maybe just a bait for Teh. Regardless of wether they are going to end up together or not, I believe somewhere along the way in episode 5 we are going to have a moment of them actually talking about what happened and how they feel. I don't know if they are going to end up together but in a sense i think we are going to get some closure of at least them expressing their thoughts to each other before they decide to part their ways or be together. ( I am talking about Oh-aew and Teh not Oh-aew and Bas..lol)
Trailer for next weeks finale : https://www.instagram.com/p/CHf1Dz2Alzg/ .
Dare I say it's actually going to be a good ending! The director and the screenwriter indicated that next weeks episode is going to make up for it , and in an interview the screenwriter said have faith in us.
Unfortunately, I'm not aware of the age demographic watching this show, so i would say either here on mydramalist…
Sure. "I don't know what i want" is to describe the mental state of confusion Teh is in. So they way to solve this confusion and to make things more clear for him is to take a step back from everyone until he figures out what he wants and how to proceed forward. So i said above, instead of him thinking "i don't know what i want, so i'll just have everything", it would be better if he said to himself "i don't know what i want, so i'll step back from everything until do (know what i want). Hope this helps!
The songs make it so much more intense for me, especially at the beginning of every new episode each week, the intro never fails to give me goosebumps and before even the episode begins I get excited. Don't even get me started when the music is playing throughout the show, the combination of the senses really make feel like i am there with them. And their expressions, their eyes take me right into their soul. Both of them are excellent actors but OH MY GOD Billkin's (Teh) expressions are like the color to a painting in the show. We may not know what he is thinking, but his face is an open book. Let me tell you this, no matter what happens in the show and no matter how much he tries to contain it from anyone noticing, his face cannot hide. I am expecting a climax of expressions in the upcoming episode. I've never seen in real life, people so in love but also the pureness of it, no never, it's hard to find let me tell you.So i am so grateful that is filmed in a way that's so stimulating to the senses, it tricks the brain into thinking that it's actually there. They are so lost in each others eyes that the love/attraction oozes through the screen, i feel such warmness in my heart when I see them together.I'll be off now, i'll go pray for a second season!!!
Everyone is concerned about people attacking Teh after the 4th ep. so although I can't vouch for the new people…
Unfortunately, I'm not aware of the age demographic watching this show, so i would say either here on mydramalist or any other social media platform we can expect mixed opinions. At this point there's no longer the question of IF Teh will act immaturely, we know he WILL. Again, that's life and maturity comes with age, so honestly I am not even bothered in the slightest bit about that, however I am anticipating to see whether he will at least have the strength to say "look I am confused, I need my time", not only to Oh-aew but to Tarn as well, you can't have it all unfortunately, if you don't know then it's better for everyone around him if he takes a step back until he does. However, ironically i think the biggest factor that will mess really bad everything around him is choosing to live with the mentality of "i don't know what i want, so i'll just have everything" instead of "i don't know what i want, i'll step back from everything until i do". Regardless, you can't really get mad at him as the audience since he's as real of a character as it gets. Now a lot of people may hate real life and the rawness of it but that's not Teh's fault, so i would advice them to think before they speak.

The feeling I hate the most is bittersweet, which unfortunately is the feeling ruling real life. I hope for at least the last episode we can get a glimpse of real sweetness with finally all the bitterness and struggles of these past 4 episodes gone. I wish good luck to everyone on their journey after the show and I really enjoyed this comment section like no other, I hope we meet again my friends, until the next sunset meets you I hope you’re a better version of yourself like the characters in the show!! xoxo
