It's called a tragedy. The worst kind of regret in life are those that you can never reconcile.
The bad writing isn’t in the plot with the father and son and wanting forgiveness itself
The bad writing and I guess script overall is choosing to ignore it for almost the entire show and shove it in at the end so it has no time to build up and for people to actually be invested and then sloppily end it like that

We didn’t see any fond memories of him and his father except for the one scene with the tree and it was quite literally near the end where it all went bad.

The only “Tragedy” was the bad writing
We got a look into the back story and the father being introduced far far too late to actually have it be impactful, he flip flopped from hating him to forgiveness in a super short span
I am enjoying the show overall but I think it really suffers from keeping the actual villains identity hidden for such a long time
It’s hard to keep a big interest when you keep hearing Benefactor this and Benefactor that. Then you end up having a reveal that will ultimately fall flat because there just isn’t even screen time to actually flesh out the character, be it motivations or characteristics.
I don’t know, I just feel like every time a novel or show does something like this instead of just having an established villain from the start it ends up being significantly worse
I am really struggling with this show, it was fantastic until the war stopped. I am on episode 19 and everything political has been a massive drag and seems.. just kind of bad?
I cannot express how stupid the end of 18 looked with the king crying and riding his horse like an upset kid and getting hurt like that
I like how in the 20 episodes I’ve watched almost all of the problems could have been avoided if the MLs father just communicated with his son and actually told him about his past and life or like I dunno left a journal telling him the truth
He instead was like “idk son swing a sword around and I’m not gonna educate ya or teach you nothin, but please stay on this mountain alone forever and watch my tomb okay?”
This show ended up being the epitome of mediocre to me by the end which is disappointing
They put all the important story parts in the very last episodes and then didn’t actual show how several important things were resolved or what conclusions were. Just many things went unexplained or not talked about
If you just want something mindless that’s easy to watch then it’s pretty worth it, but don’t look for something very impressive

The entire thing was so sloppy
I couldn’t stand the guy until the very end, he was very smart for sure, but such a miserable and insufferable asshole from start to finish
We are truly DBZ now
I can barely get through episode 1 because I pause it to admire it
It’s just an rpg staple
This man entered the show like some cool anime villain and turned into a sad sack of comedy relief punching bag material ever since lol
However, I have to watch just for Xing Fei regardless

Your daughter gets I hurt and is having a terrible time? Better make her feel worse and basically ignore her
Then force her younger sister off something she loves to take her place instead and say she has more talent than she did.
Yikes bro
that’s a rough one buddy, I hope you survive 🤣
