I'm more inclined to believe in a happy ending, given the previews of all the remaining eps. You can find all…
IQiyi is not a co-producer. The original platform host is bilibili for this specific drama, as per the arrangement with the production teams for this drama being a key project of the "Beijing Grand Audiovisual" initiative. BTS plus all previews of all episodes were readily available only for those who go to the official bilibili channel, after episode 1 aired.
The cases in this drama somehow remind me of when I grew up watching Justice Bao: Touchingly personal and down-to-earth. Nothing big and splendid (except when the palace intrigues really had to come in for certain cases). And that's a wonderful turn here. It's a very different angle from Strange Tales of Liaozhai, or longform dramas where huge mysteries have to be solved while tying into palace intrigues. It's about the flaws and circumstances of what can and cannot be changed at this one place (Yin-Yang Crossing holds a lot of meaning in the original chinese words) where the status quo must change this time unlike the past 1000 years, showing the audience emotional similarities and difficulties between humans and demons despite all differences.
In episode 11, the dialogue between Bai Shanjun and Lady Fufeng about Li Mao was formal yet revealed personal insights from Lady Fufeng about how she felt and viewed certain matters plus how Yin-Yang Crossing functions (and yes, I wrote an episode reaction hence anyone who reads that can take it as a spoiler for episode 11, if not yet there):
I like the acting from the supporting cast, which had some memorable turns. For me, Zhu Zhengting turned in a performance that solidly maintained the emotional core and transformation for the audience to see through his eyes, because we are as clueless as he is. His micro-expressions are very on-point. In episode 16, when he and Hankiz had reached a new stage in their no-longer-hostile interactions with each other... Chemistry is off the charts. My episode reaction for that episode was totally incoherent XD
I had a lot of trouble focusing on absorbing everything in that episode, in the first watch. I was squeeing inside like a chipmunk on a sugar-high. So I had to watch it two more times 😆😆😆
She and Ding Yuxi were a sweet heart-rending unforgettable couple in LIP. Fingers crossed that in this drama,…
Wait, were they ever in a modern drama together? I'm clueless about these two, but they really caught my eye in LIP.
I think somebody needs to add this drama to MDL and further edits, but I'm not doing edits at the moment due to being focused putting together a fifth article about one of the Tencent dramas from their 24th June promotion conference (Had four articles posted for MDL this year about various upcoming not-yet-aired C-dramas):
Highlight of episode 19 has my main rules of minimum-three-guys-in-one-scene + Dynamic duo TJR with Cheng Hongxin…
And after that, Gao Ran and Qi Zheng sharing that brotherly moment of vulnerability and assurance was deeply touching. Scenes like these manage to stave off my usage of the FFWD button.
The screenplay is the weakest obvious point by the end of eight episodes, glaringly so. The major writing issues have nothing to do with the original Japanese contents but what is being shared for the main storyline. An adaptation needs certain changes, such as Qi Zheng being a governor and not the Emperor, otherwise Shuurei could never be anywhere near him. Sa Sakujun in the original is impossible to import here, so major changes are also expected to make him Zheng Shi. I can understand these changes.
That said, Fan Yun's journey to officialdom is where I have the most trouble believing the storyline, not to mention as Shuurei, I'm finding her writing characterisations to be too OOC, where she needs to be very serious and incisive more often than what is being shown here, to convince me she has the makings of an official who just happens to be female. BTW, as someone who has no background in official matters in any office, shouldn't she have more difficulties grasping certain matters in what she studies and explores? I also have problems with the characterisation of Ryuuki, such as where the screenplay makes him too goofy and not serious enough when he is not around Fan Yun. Ryuuki is very intelligent and isn't a pushover. They needed to make Qi Zheng have a hard edge at times, in terms of showing why he can be feigning certain behaviours but is ultimately not a pushover goofball who bends to Fan Yun or anyone else.
Deng Wei and Joseph Zeng having accidental romantic chemistry in episode 11 during their drunken camaraderie was an outstandingly hilarious gem. What I am finding most touching are the friendship moments and brotherly moments. And Zheng Shi with grandpa.
Of them all, the camaraderie between CHX and TJR is the best tether keeping me afloat. Their portrayals of their various characters resonate the most for me. And I concede that 20 episodes in, my favourite character is unexpectedly and definitely Yan Jiang.
Watching this as light-hearted reprieve when I need a laugh is my approach.
Highlight of episode 19 has my main rules of minimum-three-guys-in-one-scene + Dynamic duo TJR with Cheng Hongxin = Happy Madness all round 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I genuinely believe at this point, Riley wasn't acting because he didn't know what hit him. With those three involved (BTS here of them all is absolutely hilarious and made me guffaw):
I'd say it's definitely a drama to check out and see if it fits you, alongside "This Thriving Land" and "Silent Honour" if you haven't watched those.
I like espionage dramas such as "The Guardians" and "River Sunset", but those don't have romance. The acting and storyline is very gripping. Great if you're not romance-oriented.
And if you want suspense thrillers that also have good to great acting, consider "Beloved", "The Long Night" or "Bad Kids" from IQiyi Suspense Theatre.
Try asking a plastic surgeon in China, assuming you're actually interested in the Magnolia Awards.
They'll tell you the likes of Yu Hewei and Chi Peng definitely have no work done, and you're clearly clueless about the Magnolia Awards if it's gossip about a nose job or botox you're after.
Some people are talking deserve or un deserving for them i really bet how many dramas did they actually watched…
I only saw her in two dramas i.e. "The Untamed" and "Love In Pavilion" so I haven't got any fixed opinions about her, But I thought she was very decent in LIP, and her chemistry with Ding Yuxi there was good!
BTW, Mephisto is a racist anti-chinese troll who goes to many C-drama actress pages to leave insults (Cheng Xiao is one example). That one deliberately leaves insults on many MDL articles about anything Chinese-related, so you can ignore the troll.
Example is Mephisto insulting Guan Xiaotong while obviously knowing nothing about her:
She and Ding Yuxi were a sweet heart-rending unforgettable couple in LIP. Fingers crossed that in this drama,…
Your reaction is so cute XD
This couple gave me major trauma with their end result in LIP, and I can't bring myself to rewatch 2 specific episodes in LIP! But this lovely short FMV at this link will be a good reminder of why they mesh well (LIP plus modern):
I have to laugh at the commenter who says Guan Xiao Tong looks like a toddler (she doesn't). Looking at her acting…
Guan Xiaotong is known as the "Nation's Daughter" (one of her monikers) and recognised as a Four Dan Actress. Very lauded and appreciated in movies plus various institutions and has received multiple awards. Also a fashion icon. Chen Xing Xu getting to act opposite her is a big deal.
Mephisto is a racist misogynistic troll account that goes to different Chinese actress MDL pages to leave insulting comments and attack them, such as Cheng Xiao's fan page:
They also spammed another writer's Recap Editorial article with racist rhetoric.
Congratulations to Yu Hewei! Finally some real acting being recognized! 🎉🙏🏻
He was a definite shoo-in for that award, when I first heard his nomination :D Pretty happy for Chi Peng as well.
I watched part of the live broadcast on a weibo channel. Very chill. Very pleasant reminder of Chen Jingke's voice being veryveryvery nice to listen to, when they were announcing the Best Foreign TV Series, which went to Task Force from USA.
Yea! What in the world happened? It’s such a splendid good drama! ⭐️
Unfortunately for Hu Ge, the moment I saw Yu Hewei nominated for "Silent Honour" when the nominees came out, I was 100% certain Yu Hewei would win. And he did. But overall, it's a great result for Yang Zi and Li Xue!
another my couple from Love in Pavilion reunion in modern drama 😭🫶🏻
She and Ding Yuxi were a sweet heart-rending unforgettable couple in LIP. Fingers crossed that in this drama, it's a happy ending for their characters! They deserve it!
how is this so far? my problem with mini dramas is that either the plot is incomprehensible or there's too much…
I've watched 16 episodes. Haven't felt this way about a romance in C-drama ever since 2020's "Winter Begonia". 22 episodes at 24 minutes each isn't long. This short drama is definitely better than a fair number of longform dramas with the same genres. You may encounter some issues if you are watching on IQiyi and not bilibili.
For a short drama and given the production team, the storyline is streamlined and subplots won't lose you, the dialogue is well-structured, the pacing is good, and the sets are gorgeously romantic, surreal and/or eerie. Episode 16 had me internally combusting and melting. It takes a lot to actually get to me. Hankiz and Zhu Zheng Ting are compelling!
For those of you who want a translation of the Tencent trailer, here is my impromptu version (please note the trickiness of chinese classical literature employed in certain lines, which alters what I choose to convey)
Thank you so much for sharing such detailed information about the lovely Ai Mi and her achievements, Xiang! I've…
You're welcome! Ai Mi has been building up her skills through roles of increasingly emotionally-complex characters. I have enjoyed watching her in some dramas, but I can see she is far from fully-stretched in her acting range for a majority of her idol dramas such as "The Double". Her non-idol projects are hardly mentioned on this page, and they are a significant part of what makes her very notable to Directors.
Complexity of the two teenage student roles she portrays is where you will see her range, in the non-idol dramas of Mao Kunyu and Cao Dun (the latter has not yet aired). As Shui Duo Po, her ability to carry tension and varying emotional intensities of scenes with Luo Yunxi or create hilarious comedy with Bai Shu is undeniable and hugely admirable, for being able to do so before the age of 15. Mandarin-speakers who watched her scenes in that drama have noted this, just like me.
As the younger version of Qu Tong, she had to create a past figure able to connect with the audience to enable deeper empathy for the older Qu Tong, and she achieved that when filming the drama shortly after turning 16. Filming under Cao Dun's directions was also during this time period.
Artists aiming to have a solid admirable filmography for the harshest critics will be able to go into movies and garner a list of achievements (only a tiny minority of artists in C-Ent qualify to be movie stars, or are deemed reliable for enhancing a movie at the box office in a supporting role), or have a sustainable in-demand career lauded by critics without needing to do romance-focused dramas (Luo Jin falls into this category).
I believe Ai Mi will deliver for her performances opposite Hou Minghao and Lin Yi to assure both actors of their confidence in her, since Directors who read her filmography by May 2025 naturally have higher expectations for her as an industry veteran. She first has to answer to the expectations of the decision-makers in the production.
On 18 June less than three days ago, Huan TV Big Data released the "Report on the Trend of Actors Crossing Over into Concerts", where Luo Yunxi ranks #1 amongst actors whom fans most look forward to seeing perform in concert:
More than 80,000 fellow fans wanted to secure seats to his concert on 25 July at the Nanjing Dream Blue Youth Olympic Sports Park Gymnasium, when the first batch of seats were released and sold out very quickly. The number of fans fiercely competing for the remaining 6,000 seats of that date is eye-opening.
What is the "Xi Realm Infinite Theatre" Concert Tour?
I'm guessing it is due to many factors shaping the production of this drama, which instills traditional cultural aspects and aesthetics through a modern interpretation to infuse warmth and justice into flawed beings with limitations you can emphatise with. Bizarre narratives woven with supernatural themes never lose sight of the traits of human nature apparent in each character. A top-tier creative team worked on this, which is great for Hankiz and Zhu Zheng Ting.
The dialogue is touching and frank, without being flowery or pretentious or drawn-out. Scenery mirrors emotions and complexities of the human heart, even as background visuals are evocative and romantic or eerily precise. In this fantasy realm, at a crossing of possibilities and fluid changes where humans and demons co-exist, bustling grounded realities of the human businesses and homes intersect with an unexpected world you come to terms with, through the newly-appointed magistrate's eyes. As his beliefs shift, so do you.
Obsession. Destiny. Resolving the past through the present. The leads and their assistants are strong and capably independent, but they need to work together to solve cases and inner demons. Their flaws unite them emotionally, more so than their goals.
"You Have My Heart" is produced by Hua'Er Film and Television, They focus on high quality dramas and are responsible for numerous acclaimed domestic works, such as "Golden Marriage", the 2012 "Empresses in The Palace" and 2014's "Red Sorghum". Their co-producer is Beijing Canyu Film and Television.
Airing on Bilibili's Guanxing Theatre as a key project of the "Beijing Grand Audiovisual" initiative, works promoted by the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau aim to disseminate premium artistic productions, which also include vertical dramas such as "Commoner To First Rank":
He is in the currently-airing drama "You Have My Heart" with Hankiz Omar, doing a splendid turn as a mortal magistrate with coroner abilities!
You might have seen him in "Dashing Youth" as the elegant Liu Yue, one of the Eight Young Master of Beili who is the fourth disciple of Li Chang Sheng.
He also has a strong dance background, which includes ballet (started at the age of 12), modern dance (started at the age of 16) and traditional dance (started at the age of nine). His dancing foundation is solid, leading to him winning first place in dance competitions. In July 2014, he was admitted to Shanghai Theatre Academy with the first place amongst applicants for the Major in Chinese Dance. Also has good vocals.
As to on-stage performances, be it Chinese dance or modern dance, he is a veteran. Very amazing history here:
