It is the scene that hit me the most emotionally. I am surprised Xu Kai can pull of acting like that in such a young age.

Yes, Xu Kai is not professionally trained as actor. As far as I know, he was a model before turned into actor. I don't discourage any career change, since some people just have talent to make up for the lack of formal education. Happened in real life in multiple type of career. But, I seldom see any successful career turning to actor/actress from anyone. Most of the time, I left with irritated feeling because of wooden acting.

I also knew Xu Kai from The Legend. I have been liking him ever since. He is blessed with such great posture and handsome face. Acting wise, it was also acceptable in The Legend. So I had high hope for him. I am happy seeing his growth in Ancient Love Poetry.

Continuing our discussion about Cheng Xiao .... yea I am also one that have problem with how Tong Yao make up and hair do are always in perfect state. I don't think it matches the gamer in real life, regardless of gender.

This is an interesting take. I have never thought this way. All I know is that those idol are too occupied with looking good in front of the camera. Honestly, I hate idol drama. If not for Xu Kai and e-sport background, I perhaps will not check out this drama.

Agree with you 100%. I am now currently watching FIYS (ep 25). In every romance scenes, I can feel Lu Si Cheng adoration and love, but nearly nothing from Tong Yao. No hate toward the actress and still think the drama is good enough. But Cheng Xiao acting skill certainly is lacking in FIYS.

In Ancient Love Poetry though, I can see when that proud Chief of God change her mind and fall completely in love toward Bai Jue. That expression of lovesick young girl, I can totally empathize, hahaha.

My heart just getting soft watching those Lu Si Cheng loving gaze, hahahaha. Xu Kai has great talent for acting, based on how far he has gone without professional training. He is not yet perfect but I can see he has improved himself these years. Actor usually reaches peak of acting skill in his 30s (professionalyl trained or not) since acting is a skill that relies on experience a lot. So far I am liking what I am seeing from Xu Kai acting.

In regards to our discussion about the FL, I think as long as there is no personal hate, any criticism should be welcomed. Because they are important for any actor/actress improvement. One thing that I dislike from lots of idol turned actor/actress (not just Cheng Xiao) is their inability to look ugly in front of the camera. As if they need to look perfect in any condition. I find this very disturbing.

In my opinion, FIYS is a good drama. It is entertaining that surely do well according to its genre: rom com.

I like him since The Legends. But then I kind of distracted with other dramas and no longer following his. Watching Ancient Love Poetry whetted my appetite again and now I am hunting his older dramas. Never get bored watching him ........

I am fine with the gaming percentage in this drama. All I want is a little explanation about the bottom lane, mid lane, top lane and what character usually in which lane and so on. I don't need a thorough explanation, just a bit so that I can follow the game scenes. As of now, I am completely lost ..... I don't like to play this kind of game, but I always love to watch people play. I plan to read the novel after I finish with the drama. Perhaps the novel will give more emphasize on the game jargon.

I love Lu Si Cheng character very much. I like to see his confident mannerism that seems to give his team such strong moral support. And watching Xu Kai gorgeous form in those fancy modern clothes is another pleasure, hahahaha.

I am now at ep 25 but I have sneaked peek the ep 28-30. Unfortunately, I stand by my opinion in regards to FL actress: too stiff and monotone. No difference when she is fall in love compared to her usual expression. While in Lu Si Cheng, I can see his change when he fall in love. His gaze is softer and his whole coldness melt.

I am still enjoying the drama as a whole. But the drama will be better if FL can bear some of the romance weight. Currently, in any romance scene, I am more interested in watching Lu Si Cheng expression and people surrounding them than Tong Yao. Honestly, I get more chemistry from Lu Si Cheng and Hierophant ......... I know my comment will incite anger from those who love Lu Si Cheng - Tong Yao chemistry. I have no hate toward the actress personally, but I cannot force myself to feel something that I fail to find.

I cannot help of comparing this drama to Ancient Love Poetry that I watched before this. Xu Kai chemistry with the FL in Ancient Love Poetry was also not good in the beginning but the chemistry just grow once they fell in love. Both mannerism changed and those romance scene just so satisfying and gave so many sugar despite much lesser kissing scenes compared with FIYS.

It is a fact that FL acting is bad, hahahaha. Unfortunately. I have not read the novel, so I don't know whether it is the character that boring. Honestly, up until now, I cannot feel FL love toward ML. I cannot feel her excitement when they get close skinship.

My enjoyment in this drama mainly come from the gaming background and storyline. The romance itself is very light and just the usual young love troupe.

Xu Kai is so so handsome in this. I find myself oggling at him ........ He should do more modern drama. Even though I also love him in costume drama.

I am at ep 23. Honestly, at this point I wish to see more about Chessman and Hierophant compared with the romance. I like their interaction. Hierophant seems to be the only person that can stand in equal manner with Lu Si Cheng.

The story and Xu Kai are the reason that I am liking this drama. Having Xu Kai in modern garb is such eye feast. Story wise, I wish they had explained the game technical since I am so confused on the game role.

I just start this drama after finishing Ancient Love Poetry. I am in ep 3 and already disturbed by the same thing as you do. I don't like seeing how her face and hairdo always in perfect state, no matter when she is in pajamas, casual clothes, and outside clothes. She reminds me of those korean dramas where the FL make up always perfect no matter the situation and no matter the character social class is.

I am still loving the drama though, the premise is pretty interesting. Xu Kai looks very handsome in this.

I cry at that father-son interaction, but didn't cry at all in ep 41. That is just how good it is.

Some people think that being female means she must have a horde of male characters in her beck and call. And if she suffers anything, then the male characters must be a bastard.

Bai Jue power keeps declining in the third life because he needs to suppress the chaos tribulation. And punishing Wu Huan without proof will lead to disaster since she has built her prestige in those years when god realm closed.

Also, in front of chaos tribulation that can literally annihilate anything, those politic game by Wu Huan and the stupidity of her husband looks like a child play.

Wu Huan has this deep inferiority complex within her heart. As long as she doesn't realized her self worth, then she will make the same mistake regardless. Wu Huan thinks that title and position can mask her humble origin (something that she cannot accept). That's why she clung to power like no tomorrow.

Regarding fanfiction, last time I checked, there were only 4 works in Archieveofourown website. And all of them are in chinese.

After reading that novel sequel, I hope there is no drama sequel. Just let it end with Bai Jue and Shang Gu reunited. The rest, lets the viewer imagine it themselves. The father -son in ep 48 is far more satisfying that anything the novel can give us regarding Bai Jue and Yuan Qi.

I also prefer the early god realm. The heaven realm in the second life reeks of greedy people. The monarch family (except Jing Jian) fulls of people who only have title but no inner quality to match that title. I am a believer that power come from within and title is just a name.

In my eyes, Gu Jun, Mu Guang and Wu Huan are only junior gods at the fall of god realm. To suddenly have the salute from the whole three realm, it must does something to them psychologically. As it is said, that power does not change you, it unmask you.

The novel sequel made me so disappointed. And the author made the plot so convenient that god realm was in sealed state when Yuan Qi did all his adventure. And no lovey dovey at all between Shang Gu and Bai Jue ......

I .... deliberately not spoiled you the sequel ending. Looks like you already check it yourself. ..... I am speechless, too. In the whole novel, Yuan Qi has not even enjoy the bliss of complete family, and he just ...... Let's just ignore the sequel ending, and imagine our own ending: Yuan Qi returns to God realm and reunites with his parents.

Bai Jue is the responsible child, the right hand of Zhi Yang. Tian Qi is naughty. I wish the novel author write a spin off of their adventure before Shang Gu birth. They are so fun together. I love ep 1-16 partly because of their interaction.
