What I like:- The battle against Wu Huan, how Bai Jue and Tian Qi to help Shang Gu fight against her, and I am…
You take the words out of my mouth!
The drama for overall is very good. I give this 10/10 rating. The acting is also very satisfying from both leads. First time I don't have any grievance toward FL acting in emotional scenes. I blame everything on the script and the director.
Everything was built up nicely up to episode 48. The father and son interaction was gold. I cannot praise it enough. It was so beautiful that I was crying a lot watching it. But, then everything started falling flat. Shang Gu memories return didn't have the emotional impact that I expected to see. I didn't feel her shock. Then the 3 years waiting also didn't have high level emotional impact. In the novel, Shang Gu spent those three years in Mount Lookout. She literally blocked herself from outside world with a barrier that even Zhi Yang could not breach. Her reason was that if she didn't do that, then the three realms would be gone. It indicated that after Bai Jue death, Shang Gu didn't feel the three realms was worth it. This is very powerful statement from Shang Gu and I was waiting it to be adapted. But my hope is in vain.
My next biggest disappointment is Yuanqi reaction for Bai Jue death. They were re-conciliated in episode 48. This is a much needed drama addition. I have thought it would have made ep 49 more heart-wrenching. But ..... nothing at all. No tears at all from Yuanqi!!! This was the father that he yearned for all these years. He just got him back and then ..... did you really not feel sad for his death??????
I believe, given the script, Zhao Dong Yu will be able to enact those emotional scene for Shang Gu that present in the novel last chapter; since she can act that perfectly in episode 41. I have been waiting for so long for this kind of actress, but everything just .....
Have you watch FIYS? I am planning to watch that as soon as I get over ALP. Aside from FIYS, I am also staring blankly, hahahahahaha. Perhaps The Long Ballad .......
Can you tell how much time passed? I think there were 2 time jumps.
First time jump starts right after Bai Jue death, which is 3 years. Then, Shang Gu kneeling to Ancient God, begging him to return Bai Jue, we have the second time jump, which is 500 years
Finished watching. Ep 47-48 are very satisfying. Bai Jue interaction with his son is so heart-wrenching. But I am not satisfied with ep 49 at all. If they don't want to add anything past the novel, then at least they should faithfully follow the novel last chapter. In the novel, Shang Gu sadness is depicted far better. They have such a good actress as Shang Gu, what a waste .....
Moreover, I dislike how they handle Yuanqi in episode 49. The novel states that Yuanqi spend his days crying day and night after Bai Jue death. The drama shows him to have "no care" at all. It makes any drama addition in ep 48 for father-son reconciliation useless.
Binge watched all readily subbed episode until episode 44 yesterday. My eyes are so tired .....
By the way, dunno why, I didn't really feel sad when watching episode 41. The acting is very good, not a problem with that. No feeling of cringe or "blank" when watching, I was pretty much engrossed. But, somehow I felt like this pain is only transient, soon both of them will meet again as Shang Gu and Bai Jue. In my eyes, Houchi and Qing Mu never died, they just remember the whole picture.
I'm emotional seeing qingmu crying when he disappeared. My guess was right, interesting qingmu and boxuan are…
Which episode are you at? Because if you have watched episode 39, you will know Bai Jue was only acting. He remembers everything. But he needs to put a front to distance himself from Shang Gu and so that Wu Huan will not get suspicious. He also already knew that Wu Huan cultivate devil way.
It seems there are two group here in this forum. One group believes that pair in love must face everything together.…
".....I wasn't trying to blame Shang Gu here...." Of course you were not! In this story, no one is to be blamed in my opinion. Shang Gu has rights to angry to Bai Jue since she knows nothing of his plan. But viewers has God's perpective thus privy to Bai Jue inner problem. Thus, I think it is imperative for us to empathize with both sides.
I have never been an active participant in a discussion when there is a debate between group defending FL and the group that defending ML. Until ALP, hahahaha.
Agree with this comment. I love baijue/qingmu and xukai play him well enough for me to empathise with his characters.…
To be honest, I cannot understand the hype of Bai Lu. I admit I have not watched lots of her drama. Only The Legends, AMA, and Jiuliu Lord. I am not impressed. She is decent, yes, but not yet excellent.
"The one who is left behind is usually the one who suffers the most"Â Yes, this is usually the case, but if you're…
It seems there are two group here in this forum. One group believes that pair in love must face everything together. The other group believe in sacrificial love. The debate will never end between the two because the believe ingrained in our mind and built up by culture and life experience.
I am more inclined to sacrificial love, because in my eyes when you truly love someone, you would only wish happiness for them and shoulder all the difficulties yourself. This is what I believe. Suffer together is indeed nice. But in certain condition, it will only highlighted the selfishness of one participant. He/she doesn't want to suffer alone, so he/she "asked" the partner to suffer together.
Seriously what I hate most is seeing the fandom being divided like this now, because they only see how much Hou…
I am still holding myself to watch that particular episode with stab .... I will start binge watch tomorrow so that I am ready for the last three in Sunday.
And yeah, the bromance between Bai Jue and Tian Qi is gold as always. Love their interaction very much.
I actually want another kiss scene (on the lips), between Bai Jue and Shang Gu, before the ending, but I think…
Now that you have put the idea in my head ......... I also want to see it. I want to see a little lovey dovey as we had back in TMPoB in the end to sooth our hearts
Seriously what I hate most is seeing the fandom being divided like this now, because they only see how much Hou…
The words indeed hurt him. The novel also has this scene. But, the novel added a second sword stab from Shang Gu along with the words. And in Bai Jue monologue, he says that the words hurt worse than the sword stab.
Moreover, in the novel, he is truly alone. Tian Qi only knows of everything in the very end, right before Bai Jue does the sacrifice. It is truly sad ......

Also, the posters here heavily recommended The Long Ballad ....
If you are still at ep 38, so you would not join us to watch the finale today?

Anyway, story wise, I love ALP the most currently for xianxia genre.
