Agree with you. I think he just "back" to his past self before mellowed because of meeting Shang Gu. And he has…
Yes!! There is a passage in the novel concerning this. Inner monologue of Bai Jue saying something that Qing Mu is never disappeared but he no longer that man that can only wait for her (I think this is related to some event in Qing Mu - Hou Chi love story).
I do believe Shang Gu and Hou Chi is one and the same. They are the same soul. Hou Chi might not have the memories of Shang Gu, but her soul in the end let her fall to Qing Mu which is Bai Jue himself, even also without past memories. Their soul resonance with each other.
Pausing in the middle of ep 41.......A short commercial break so to speak.
I am pausing at ep 38 raw (not yet watch the sub version). I am afraid I will go crazy if I binge watch until ep 46 raw and then need to wait for one week for the last 3 episodes. I sooth myself by reading the novel instead ...... Let's see how long I can hold on from the temptation
After watching EP 38, If anyone also felt that Bai Jue changed and got confused since we don't know why he is…
Agree with you. I think he just "back" to his past self before mellowed because of meeting Shang Gu. And he has his reason of being back acting cold in front of Shang Gu
Just finished watched the preview. Great acting from Zhao Dong Yu and Xu Kai!!! This is the kind of expression and portrayal that I have always been looking for in this kind of tragic scene. That episode 48 and 49 really hurt really good ....... I cannot wait to watch the episodes in entirety.
Agree with this comment. I love baijue/qingmu and xukai play him well enough for me to empathise with his characters.…
Yes, he indeed play well enough. The expression is spot on. Also I can feel that his portrayal is stable throughout the drama. When he is Bai Jue, he shows Bai Jue happiness in a strained way. Little smile here and there but never over the top. It is suitable for Bai Jue who has lived for so long alone and burdened by heavy responsibility. On the other hand, Qing Mu happiness shown freely with big smile and gesture.

I am also quite surprised reading the comment from that certain someone in here. I even checked her comment in Xu Kai personal page. Jupiter Rules is a new account and only has ALP listed at her watching list.
I have known Xu Kai since The Legends. It is the script fault for the drama to fall down in the 2nd half. Acting wise, honestly I preferred him than Bai Lu at that time. In ALP, I think his skill has improved. His portrayal for Bai Jue desolation after Shang Gu death is very good. I have great hope for him in the future.
Wow, this forum certainly is "lively". It has such a dedicated hater who practically copy and paste the same argument again and again ......
Xu Kai is not yet perfect actor, but he is improving and his acting is acceptable by standard. I have seen others wooden actor/actress who only have looks but not skill. And Xu Kai certainly is not one of them. He doesn't deserve the harsh critique spewed by the hater here.
His Bai Jue is believable. Bai Jue is someone who is socially awkward and burdened with responsibility. Thus, his acting as Bai Jue shows restrain. On the other hand Qing Mu is cute young man who is free and without responsibility. His acting shows a young man who is goofy and naive.
Also, the setting of the drama world, I think, does not allow an explicit display of affection. So hugging is already very intimate. If you want to see lots of kisses, perhaps watching western drama will be more suitable.
Can't wait for new eps. Every episode is getting more interesting ^^ Xukai can do romance, don't listen to the…
I have liked Xu Kai ever since I watched him in The Legends. I donāt understand the āhateā for him in this forum from some people. I agree that he is not yet perfect, but his acting here is still acceptable. He can show the difference between Bai Jue and Qing Mu pretty well
Wow, thanks. Don't mean to sound salty but I came to this page to express my thoughts only for someone to tell…
I believe the drama will be happy ending. Zhao Dong Yu has said so. Since you are translating the novel, I take you already know that the novel is happy ending?! Perhaps the preview doesn't show the happy part yet (if there is indeed a preview for ep 49).
Finally found a xianxia drama worth watching in this year 2021 after Love and Redemption last year. The costume is very good and fairy like. Scenery looks very pure, as in immortal place. CGI is top notch, too. The OST also beautiful ......
Like the FL character. She is strong but not obnoxious and entitled. So far the acting are on point from all cast. I can see how different Shang Gu from Houchi in their bearing and aura. Same thing with Bai Jue and Qing Mu. Kudos for both leads. Lu Xue Yi is very good in here. Love every moment of his interaction with Xu Kai in the drama. They depict perfectly how close brother quarrel with each other (well, brother with godly power, thus their quarrel is quite grander, hahahahaha).
i was hoping they get a better female lead on this drama.
I have not read the novel in full but so far in the drama Shang Gu is never said to be a stunning beauty. So Zhao Dong Yu appearance actually fit the bill. I am not saying that she is not pretty just different from other xianxia type actresses. Moreover, I like Zhao Dong Yu acting skill.
I personally preferring her than any other xianxia FL that I have come across these few years.
And they give this drama such low rating, hahahahaha. This drama is pretty much following the original and the actor/actress have done a good job in acting. I very much preferring Zhao Dong Yu who can act than any other actresses (with trend beauty for xianxia) that can only know how to look pretty in front of the camera.

The novel is very good. Love every bit of it. The son of Houchi and Qing Mu is very adorable
So far, I like what I am seeing.

APL as I see it going a "moderate" and "constrained" route in showing love. There are more of kissing on the forehead than on the lips.
