I too find Yuqi is doing great here. She can be the quirky, happy-go-lucky, sometimes- silly-but-cute YL, but when needed, she can be elegant, mature, and sincere . Yuqi does well in both cases for me. Also the chemistry between her and DL is great, it looks natural to me. All XD/YL interactions make me smile/laugh/ or make my heart flutter… As for YL character in the drama, I think she’s the kind of girl one will either like/adore or dislike/feel annoyed, and not somewhere in between.

Please don’t worry. YL’d never had and would not have any feeling for FW the emperor. She never wanted to return to the palace either. She’d once succeeded with the going to the mausoleum excuse. But the FW at the lantern festival was not quite the former docile FW. She saw his nasty killing; what is worse, right after that he turned to her and implied that FOR HER he would not hesitate to repeat this kind of action. She saw also his annoyed attitude towards XD when XD stepped in between her and him. With XD, she also knew that he too would do anything if she actually confirmed with him she had no wish to return to the palace. Hence she refrained from doing so to not put him in a difficult situation with the emperor. I think with her consent to return, she was merely being careful, better wait for the right opportunity. As for the touching, I don’t like seeing that too. However I don’t think she should be disrespectful and push his hands away there. He’s emperor and her first saviour after all, so better not embarrass him in public. Aside from these little touching, I don’t see her ever encouraging FW’s feeling for her; she looked completely uncomfortable in the whole scene with him; she smartly refused to tell him her nickname. I’d read the novel twice and was re-reading the third time when the drama started airing. I already liked the book, but I have to say I like the drama much better now. This is just my opinion only - FL is better written in the drama. Here she’s truly a girl worth fighting for. I can clearly see when and why XD fell for her and why later he would risk everything for their love. - I also like drama XD more. He used to be dark and too ruthless for sure. I like the implication in the drama that he became “lighter” and more likable after meeting her. He said so to himself at the lantern festival. That’s the power of love I think; healthy love makes a person better. - Some major plot details I’m thankful the drama had slightly changed. There’re some major incidents in the later part I really wish the drama will change too to be honest.
So I’m loving the drama. I jumped into this mainly for XD/YL’s romance, I’m happy I’ve been given far beyond expectation in that area.

I love this scene too. YL was giving sweetness and showing hope to XD. I love her maturity when she calmly accepted the situation and just asked him to promise to come back safely. Also, I think YL was considerate enough to not egg him on telling her whatever his personal reason for doing this job was at this stage of their relationship. As for XD, this is the second time he’s opened up to her about his personal life though in an implicit way (1st time was at the pear tree, where he told her the story of 2 identical trees, which was in fact the story of him and his twin brother). Last but not least, their bright and tender smiles at each other in the end was so lovely ❤️❤️❤️

I’m not good at guessing the plot lines in dramas, but if I could, I would love to see YL be the one to confess first ; that would mean a lot to XD (he might not be confident enough to confess for fear that she could shy away from him because he’s an eunuch). But we can see YL is not the kind of girl who is shy in love. If she insists on liking him as an eunuch, it’s highly probable she will be the one pushing the boundaries.
