FL showed her own agency so he had to knock her down. The male writers probably thought it was cute behavior, like pulling her pigtails because he doesn’t know how else to express himself. But instead he is coming off as mysoginist. Like you, I was looking forward to couple 1+3 but now, not so much.
This “female-centric” drama about women was directed, produced, and written by men…and it shows! Are we…
At best, the women will reform/teach/raise their matches up to become responsible, adult partners. Like they are their mothers, finishing the job the parents messed up. I was looking forward to the series but right now, I‘m close to dropping it. Man-child-husbands are such a turn-off. I hope the guys will step up.
litterally 20 minutes into ep one and ml is gaslighting fuhui into believing her being upset about her freaking…
The interesting thing is, ML circles the wagons around his (at least emotionally) cheating cousin, crossdressing creeper friends and rapist friend (guess he doesn’t know that one yet) without prejudice. He tells his cousin to knock it off and disaproves of his friends ogling ladies but he sticks with them anyways. There are no consequences to offending his own morals. Instead he does what men around him do and would rather his cousin-in-law suffer in silence. He kicks a ball at FL head in retaliation rather than his friends. Right now, he is a friend loyal to a fault but I wouldn‘t want to see him court our FL. He is a petty snob.
Second daughter should be glad if her husband took a concubine because who would want that excuse of a man?
He is a wimpy man-child who has to figure out how to be a husband. I guess he will have some tremendous character growth before their relationship has a chance.
2 episodes down and I'm still waiting for the FL expressions to change , this only cements the fact that there…
After 5 episodes, I have concluded there is too much botox in her face to allow any movement. Never mind her lipfiller. Procedures like these almost never look good in moving faces. And they age her terribly.
Its only a cage for her, if he makes it one. Which we know he won't, and I think she does too.
Shenyi showcased what can go wrong and the 2nd time was her own choice. Our ML is a saint, maybe he will get his Buddy the emperor to change some laws? So all women can profit from FLs fortune?
I think its going to be a non-issue bc he has no family to impose restrictions on her. His aunt is unconventional…
True, as far as dramaland MLs go, he is a dream with no crazy parents or inept/scheming older siblings or concubines. His aunt is kind and living her own life, anyways. But yeah: “whatever life he agrees to“…. She needs the security beyond what the law/her society is willing to grant her.
She is essentially a slave...if not for him she would have been r* and killed. So marrying him would be almost…
That is actually a smart choice because it puts them on somewhat equal footing again. Also, she needs to earn money so she can trade the penalty with him when they marry.
Its only a cage for her, if he makes it one. Which we know he won't, and I think she does too.
Sure he wouldn‘t, but he could. Marrying him, she gives up a lot. Though you could argue he had to save her from slavery so her dream of freedom was a pipedream anyways. I think he needs to ensure her independence from him before marriage. ML is a good guy but look at Shenyi.
I believed marrying ML. won't take away FL's freedom and she can still continue to do what she is currently doing…
By law, a husband has all the rights and the wife pretty much none. Look at Shenyi. Mudan might know Jiang is a good guy but she would still depend on his whim. So I am curious how he will ensure her independence and security, if only for peace of mind.
The scene cousin and ex fighting over mudan and the reaction of Mudan and JCY was hilarious !
Her cousin was so earnest with his offer, too. Like, all things considered, a woman like Shenyi would have been well off with him. His heart was in the right place, he just didn‘t consider Mudan would want more for herself. Dismissive but not maliciously so.
I adore her commitment to stab him. ML is a saint, all things considered. Their wounds are barely a scratch, really, otherwise they would have died of sepsis long ago.
Ep. 18 will change your mind. And ep. 20 will change your mind about the other. There is a reason why Han stood…
That was an incredibly thoughtful response, thank you. I‘ll drop the show but I hope you will get a good ending to the show and their character arcs. Happy viewing!
But yeah: “whatever life he agrees to“…. She needs the security beyond what the law/her society is willing to grant her.
Also, she has quite the reputation, can he just marry her or would people of his social circle clutch their pearls?
