though I only wanted to watch this for seulgi, I thought maybe the similarity to that childhood anime would make me bear through it. but maybe I just have my drama petpeeves that I just can't get over..
also, to me, the acting was horrible ;)
loud obnoxious over reactive fl that screams my headphones off? check
ridiculous cliche story worthy of EY's mockery? check (I mean the way they mocked "Secret" for it's clicheness)
baggy clothes and updos randomly making a girl ugly? check
girls fighting each other for "handsome" boys that reject them? check
girl getting dumped just to add to her self consciousness and fuel her hate of guys? check
I mean, it's 2019 already! stop these shallow stories and horrible plots ;/
I started skipping just to see seulgi, but even she can't save this....
if hwi wasn't selfish, and they all met earlier then sunho could've been a part of that team.. atleast he had scareface ;)
Nokdu is now my num1 favorite male lead character ever! I love the "sweet" kind, but I don't think they are as widely written as the "Nice Male Lead" tag says they are :)
if one is not as sweet, cute, playful, and easily sulky as Nokdu then they are not the "nice" type.. and I'll really miss lady kim ;(
Dong Joo was actually used to her full potential as a female lead, and I was really happy with her❤
like the lecture was talking about consciousness and what not, so I was like, this must be why the writer is writing "self conscious" characters. (which still could be true).
but I'm glad it's a "3rd" season kind of a thing. it's a good thing the writer likes to reuse their character drawings after all xD atleast this time no one has a death threat hanging on them. which was a necessary thing for secret and our drama in some ways xD
and I actually really want to see that!!! is it based on that movie fashion king(?) I haven't seen it but Oh Nam Joo felt too main leady to be a geeky unfashionable character xD
now, and the fact that danoh isn't dying, she could happily live with haru in the shadow, and as long as the writer keeps reusing characters, they could always reunite...
though, if I were to say one "bad" thing it'd be this "webtoon writernim! you should've made baek kyung as the 3rd season's main lead and tried to add a new character for him instead of reusing everyone!" xD
before I talked about how every character was kinda forced to be the way they are because the writer made them that way, and that was mostly about baek kyung. but the ending made me think of haru.. he was a nameless extra, so he didn't have a background and that kinda made him a little "bland", you know? like he didn't have a childhood so he couldn't talk about his past and likes/dislikes like danoh and baek kyung. and he only got his characteristics while meeting danoh, which made her his beginning.. and she was the one that made him grow..
I think I'll just keep the rest of my thought for the review ;p
woo dohwan was the only good thing.. and I'm not giving this a 1 just because of him ;)
I'd also like to take this chance and thank the not interested function, since Oct I actually resisted starting every drama and so I've not skipped/felt so disappointed in a drama that I couldn't drop in a while ;)
I'll describe this drama as this "image a writer built a whole world and it's characters, but they didn't know how to move them around that world so the characters just keep walking into the wall. over and over and over again"..
basically they have 1 plot point "the fl's 'destiny' is her step father -gasp- what will they do in this 'fake forbidden love'?" and that's it.. like no one even cared he was her "step father" mostly because no one believed it, but they probably didn't want to highlight it in a way that people would start to get disturbed by it. agh, seriously though, that was such an empty plot move.. then they kept throwing random hurdles at them that it was not funny anymore.. they should've focused on WDH's character instead....
oh yeah, and every side character was plain useless and a time waster.. and everyone was just stupid...
baek kyung "even when you are your stage self I still fell lonely"
baek kyung "wishing to keep you by my side knowing that you weren't yourself makes me a monster"!
dried squid "since we don't have much time left, I'll be allowed to sped time with you right?"
dried squid "it's impossible to pretend not to know you"!!!!!!!!!!!
danoh "I hope you can find your real you"
there's more, but I'm crying right now so I can't remember ;(
it was heartbreaking to see baekkyung like that, but I'll take that as his "growth" and I'll be happy with it, but like don't "kill/put them to sleep/make them disappear when the drama ends.. every writer just needs to always write "to be continued" and let the characters live their life away from the stage ;(
I'm really scared of what's to come though...
I wish this was longer ;p like their Halloween ep was cute with their korean mythical creature references, or their "foreign" names, and that opera scene xD though they are easier for people to catch the meanings there ;p
also, they are doing a spin off later in Dec! though it might be more of a webdrama kind of a thing? the synopsis sounds hilarious though xD
but they also balanced it out well with their heartbreaking/heartwarming scenes in the newest eps. it's definitely one of the best 2019 dramas.
I know most of those parodies because of variety shows, but there were times when I was confused, so thank you for this, it was super helpful and fun❤
