I liked how the fl had her own LOOK. the dark hair and dark lipstick with the black clothes were great aesthetics Tho I also disliked her secretary and evil dude's secretary matching a bit in the dark vibes. They had the same lipstick, same hair and same color scheme. It made it seem like a fashion style for ahjummas rather than the fl going dark for coldness and maturity. Since in her normal youth ppl didn't trust her, and insulted her she put on a facade of coldness with her fashion
Secretary was a cool fun aunt style so matching tones ruined the mood. Especially since dark lipsticks have shades, like red, orange, brown, maybe not pink. But the 3 seemed to share the same lipstick besides one ep where fl was red and aung was a bit dark pinkish hue🤣
I'm not a fan of nara but this her best work. Finally allowing her to be her age. Not insulting her age but they force the soft babyface way too much. It's not wrong to act characters her age.. tho idk if she was supposed to be 35? Since her aunt seemed 18, and the kid vr should be younger so maybe 15? Both looked easily in their natural 40s
The ml, he also didn't look 27 if kid vr was 7.. he looked again his age of 32
Anyway plot wise. I like subplots, but I hate childhood connection. Everything was way too connected.. way too dramatic traumatic for it to be solved so easily
Her mom didn't have to die.. they could've searched more.. I'd have understood more if they had the solution that was lost in a fire or something. But for them to be generations of exorcists and not have a solid resolution for egg ghost(?) Only for ml who has no background on the matter to solve it
Their ghosts and evil spirits were also too mellow. The were harmless besides a few hauntings. Even when the murderer and the big villain possessed ML, they only fought a bit and boom they were gone
I also really hated the connection.. his uncle killed. Got his nephew possessed. Ended up making the exorcist die by her daughter. And everything was solved with a few tears. He was a villain..
And that was the main problem. Her needles purified the spirits as if they were forgiven that's why big villain needed to be locked away.. but would that mean the actual evil ones didn't get punishment... most were vengeful spirits cuz they were wronged and murdered, but what about the killers
Also tripping and falling seemed like an easy way to become vengeful. There must've been atleast one in every building 🤣

I gave s1 a 10 but this was lackingma dongsuk is a gem, his fight scenes are refreshing especially after the brutal villains, he comes on like a soda pop and btch slaps everyone into another dimension🤣
but that's about it, this only worked for him. the villains were all so skinny and but they don't die. ma dongsuk had 0 character development and very little screen time, he was there to fight. the villain was way too "Idc I'll kill and I won't die"
the events were meh, tho we were invested in the action and we laughed a bit, more at the ridiculousness than comedy
my favorite part was "let's split it 50/50", "who gets the 50", honestly cheese like that only works for ma dongsuk
and as mom said he was her fav part🤣

different but annoyingly different
just like sweet home and squid game, this was unlike the "usual" kdramas, well the zombie apocalypse part, the highschool romance angst was actually exactly like any other school kdramas ;)for a zombie apocalypse, it's not usually from a teens' pov. and usually it doesn't revolve around bullying.. but that was it's charm..
was it believable? lol of course not.. those kids never ate anything for 3 days straight, and they barely slept, yet they had enough strength to run, fight and hold back zombies who are known for their speed and power (like those chombies showcased, there's no way those kids could've survived that long)
Tbh prez should use her strength more, I mean if it was a guy chombie he'd have carried them all out and saved the day by now.. prez only threw bully off the roof once..
that bullied girl eating bullied boy.. that's not revenge, he couldn't protect himself she shouldn't have expected him to save her.. she needed to take revenge on her bully.. she should've stayed in the school then found her bully bullying the kids so she'd save them and have her revenge
her revenge against "the whole school" made no sense cuz as those kids showed most of them didn't know either of the bullies or the bullied..
also with cheong san's mom, he should've shown more disbelief, and also she shouldn't have gone there, also where was his dad?
it's like the mom, the fls dad, the bully, the bullied girl, they were all just steps to get the story somewhere.. but they just mostly needed less eps and less reason to drag it out, like that whole flashbacks sequences..
Cheong San didn't deserve this.. the bully was attacking him and he defended himself.. he did not deserve an eye for an eye
The 2 cops are just adopting any kid they find🤣🤡 I was waiting for them to run away with 1 kid now they have 2🤣🤡🤡

I think the story was really limited, the setting was small (as apposed to My First Client for example) and the progress though uneventful, the ending was not what they wanted it to be.Park Ha Sun and Ha Yoon Kyung did an amazing job though the little kid didn't have enough force (the kids in Pawn and My First Client were so amazing I was mesmerized by their performance) and I couldn't get that invested.
this is a big issue and a current event in korea, idk if laws are different in each country regarding child abuse, but in beyond the truth they said the law can take away your child even if there was a rumor of mistreatment then you need to prove that you're a good parent, which also seems like a horrible law but here in these korean movies even if there are huge sings of abuse they let them keep the kids! and in the end it results in 2 things, they die or they kill. that's why I didn't think the ending had the impact they wanted. at some scenes the kid seems to be exhibiting psychopathic behavior, even bigger than their line "kids who are abused turn around and abuse other's"
so overall even if the message was heartbreaking and the performance was good, it still felt basic. I couldn't feel the emotinal depth of each fl, or the connection with the kid, so I felt like it was slow but rushed

Han Sung Yun was the only great actor among them, she carried the show alone tbh, the 2nd actress was tooo bubbly that it was too much, the "player" guy was trying too much and the other guy was almost like a background character, he had a story that not all men are "manly" but it was less than a flashback.
so I think the directing this time lacked, though it was better than s2 cuz I don't remember that one ;D
the ost was really nice, a full rnb mood I liked it.

the actresses were on point, I think Nakashima Mika really captured rock nana's feels and attitude really well, and cute nana was nice too, though for the mls, non of them met my "expectations"Ren kinda looked cold composed and stoic, but here he was slightly sleazy looking, he did not look ROCK ;) I hate when equal's change the actors (and 2 mains) but I hope he's better there xD
the sismance between the nana's was adorable, and their characters were solid enough but I hated the focus on cute nana's cheating boyfriend ;/ and his new gf just passed "cute" into creepy clueless territory ;)
it was even way way before I got into anime/dramas that I was on love with nana's art style just from googling it, but I never watched the anime or read the manga xD
I kinda liked the aura/feel of it, and not reading/watching it made it more mysterious and deep? (now I tried to google it and the drawings kinda looks, childish? xD but it brings back memories.. I even loved drawing punk rock fashion, I probably still have my drawings with nana inspired looks..)

overall the concept is cute, kinda also like 18 again, it's like kids and parents are from different generations so they see things with a different eye but with these concepts both can finally look through the same view point and understand each other a little more
for me this is the only project from Jung So Min that I enjoyed, ironically it's when she's acting as a man xD that's why I say black listed actresses are bad becasue of type casting..
the plot was boring but I did laugh alot over the silliness of Yoon Je Moon acting as a girl and somin as the dad xD
I especially loved when she chased him and he ran away calling dad xD also yoon je moon dancing to sistar xD

comedywise it was fun and I laughed a few times, but plotwise it was too basic and convenient like honestly the blood/wounds making her old again, and accident of her beloved grandson were too linear, but the way they handled the age gaps, the "romances" and the character developments were nice, probably the best in this genre of fantasy age gaps, I think it'd have been as creepy for this 74 year old to "live happily ever after" with a 30+ as it was for mr black that might've actually ended with the creepy old guy and the fl his son's age got together
tbh this was a rewatch and I thought her daughter in law was the one who got sick and she chose to help xD but the relationship development between them at the end was nice though again way too rushed, why did she suddenly decided to talk back xD

in some ways this drama was a role playing game like each stage of his life he had 2 options and he needed to choose between them. if he chose to open a restaurant, he'd have been unsatisfied and might've taken it out on his wife for tying him down.
if he chose to stay in france he'd have married francis(?) they'd have both lived happily enough but he'd have had that same hole from not realizing his dream and when his brother died he'd have lived in guilt
tbh I think he was all in all very selfish and self centered, his family and wife always put his needs 1st, his wife was responsible for 99% of his success but he never realized it until it was way too late
he in the end kinda chose to live for the emperor instead of himself/his family or his dream. he cooked becasue it made him happy, he learned becasue he wanted to prove others wrong, he became the emperor's chef to show the world he made it, but was he happy? did he spend enough time with his family? would he have been happier in a small restaurant? would he have been happier in france? would it have been better if he took Takahama Toshiko to france with him before the angst happened? if he wasn't the emperor's cook maybe he'd have taken better care of his wife and she'd have not died so early.. his sons were in the army but where was his daughter? he was not a good father or husband..
and thought TT was a great wife she was too great that he was able to take his hands off of the family matters and live only focused on himself
the title and the promise made me think he'd live a luxurious lifestyle with his family around the emperor, like he'd have been maturer as time went by but he never changed, his house was modest or "rich" enough as his parents were, did being the emperor's chef really benefit him? did he really "save" the emperor? did the emperor thank him? was he "honored".....
also, the ages were really over the place, like sure the actor was around 26 and he was a believable teen (though they only used his shortness to make him young, and he was just short) to 30 year old but later, especially the last ep he reeeaaallly did not look around 50s? especially around the other actually older actors.
anyway, it was interesting to see that time period, and I actually liked it until he cheated with his boss's wife though they seemed to have an open marriage but he lived with them for like 5 years afterwards I started to dislike him then. he was just lucky, he met the right people, the right mentors that even when he had obstacles and hardships it was not that hard for hard work to get him out, unlike the painter who was alone and never achieved his dream
also I never rewatch stuff

I don't know if it's the writer or the actresses but the ladies in this show were awesome, unlike the usual fls in these types of dramas Cha Mi Rae was not a pushover, in fact she was an independent confident smart well established career woman that wouldn't let anyone mess with what's hers ;pand as 2nd fls Hwang Ji Hye was slightly clingy but she was not jealous or obsessive, her clingyness and constant confessions were a result of the ml always casually refusing her because he was "always" in love with the 1st fl.
Sa Rang was as crazy as her mom and Director Hwang is sweet as always~
now, plotwise this was horrible and not just because it's a cliche from 2015 but really nothing made sense and every subplot was there just to move the plot.
the reason for their breakup was worse than a misunderstanding and was pure bs. she didn't have enough "confidence" to tell him so she denied both the father and daughter to be their for each other ever since step1 ;(
Han Yeol was not my favorite type of ml but he was not childish or incapable of taking responsibility and even when the drama started he always seemed to regret not starting a family. and she wasn't even "holding him back" or stop him from "achieving" his goals and dreams related to baseball.
also all throughout the drama they show an accident as if that's the reason they were apart -a stupid accident I might add that happened 2ft away from him, like even if it was poring rain, there's no way one would not notice a freaking truck hitting a person ;/ - she just didn't have confidence!
it's like she had no issues with weirdly forcing him to live as her husband/kid's dad for 3 months as a contract but she couldn't tell him she was pregnant!!! and he couldn't do that math ;/
they only did it to have a plot that says "he chose to be her father even when he didn't know he was her dad". like she was unreasonably selfish for wanting to get him back so she can leave her kid and die in peace and she just kept hurting everyone by wanting to leave over and over and over again it made zero sense.
what's more hurtful? your mom/the love of your life leaving you suddenly because she hates you, or finding out that they are sick and in need of a caregiver?
also what's even worse than both is that after she dumps them and dies they find out that she suffered alone ;/
also the villains were too cartoonish and unreasonable.
and so I HATED the plot, the only thing beside the female characters I liked were some sweet family moments and the fact that the 2nd leads ended up together
the song was nice but they repeated it so much it got on my nerve and I never rewatch stuff :)

Koreans yet again treating the non skinny one as someone obsessed with food, beside the poster of only him with food, ppl can be fat without being hungry all the time
And they can enjoy food without being, pigs…
Which goes back to his romance line with the annoying girl calling him a pig every time she sees him… that’s her nickname for him. Pig… even if she sees him she goes “oh there’s pig”, “I just saw pig”.. and he thinks he’s lucky someone “skinny” like her would be interested in him
lol even beside that I really dislike her, she gives off a condescending cocky attitude
And they’re already using fillers cuz ml and fl are just brooding over the breakup
the start was cute but later it became a dragging plot
Was this review helpful to you?
They just kill for fun, slap ppl, strangle ppl, then tell strangers “I met someone annoying and killed them cuz they were annoying”, and they'd reply good for you
There’s zero interest in knowing these characters, all seem sociopaths and psychopaths, there’s no good character to root for, there's no "fear" like a normal thriller
the younger ml keeps "letting her go" and asks here to stop killing like he's asking her to quit smoking...
a normal thriller, ie a bloody lucky day, strangers from hell, the darkness, fear, thrill, anger, mystery, etc are all lost here
or atleast a supernatural genre like devilish judge where she kills for "justice"
it's such an icky characteristic "that person annoyed me so i killed them" ;/

the premise of it was fun, kinda like A Day, The Call and as some say Kairos (though I haven't seen that one), but that's the problem, the last 2 aired very very recently that it's not just similarities but plain old copy+paste
they started off too strong, for 4 eps, every time they changed the past the future changed, and with that they got new threats, but after 4 times one is like stop with the twists, so now from ep5 till 6 it became a boring political talk blah blah, it was so boring I didn't care anymore and their last twist is one of those "no one will see it coming" thing that's way too obvious......
I LOVED Lee Joo Young and the fact that she was a 1st main lead without her needing to be involved in a love line with the ML, but then it's so obvious she's taking back seat while the guy does everything cuz in her time line she can't do anything but investigate
and the fact that the 2 mains are never in the same space together kinda makes their team work flat.
the OST is nice and so is the acting but the writing is so empty I didn't even want to skip or fast forward cuz by the next time the plot is interesting it'd probably be the last ep

I get when sometimes the main character needs to find the killer becasue the cops are incompetent, but here they just took out the cops becasue they want the household members to do the investigation alone ;/ the cops barely visited the crime scene ;/
they are only limited to the mansion set and they rarely go out so it is way too limited and the number of eps are short but still too long for this kind of setting and plot.
tbh if you take out all the petty suspects it's pretty clear who the killer is and it's funny when two 20 year old girls are the only ones doing the research. also isn't it illegal to release the circumstances of an ongoing crime to the public and let them help with the investigation?
anyway, again with the ep count it's obvious they knew they can't drag it for 16 or even 12 eps, but tbh they only needed 2

I so love how he looks at her and how he acts, “why be shy when I’m not ashamed of my affectionate actions” ~~~~~
But like yes boy, you’re a man who likes your woman, why be flustered and shove her away like cheesy angsty cold mls
I love the "go inside a book" theme, but seohyun's acting is so bad, as bad as her ever changing "baby hair", the plot was cute when she ran away from him but he continued to chase her xD
but overall the angst of it is boring, and every other character is just flat
