Title The Embers Spoiler

Yes that's my theory. Big bro wants justice not bloody revenge. I'm in two minds about it. If little bro has multiple personality disorder and his 2nd personna is taking revenge, it's a trope. If big brother is alive and is enacting bloody revenge, it's also a trope. *Shrugs* will have to wait to see where the writers go with it

My current theory is that he is hallucinating his brother and he is the one taking revenge. His brother is alive and they are on opposite sides because big bro is trying to stop little bro from his bloody revenge

I think the show did a good job in episode one. They had someone criticise his mandarin, so we can just go on…
There's now a policy in China that actors should use their real voice in dramas. So more and more actual voices are now being heard in dramas. I think they would be dubbed if they were from HK and TW where the accent is very distinctive (but that's just my guess) or where the actor does not speak Chinese at all

The problem isn't with his Mandarin and his Mandarin is fine. The issue is with his delivery of lines . when he…
I don't see it as a gain or loss thing? It's like if you see a movie you might say the plot was bad, or this.person nailed the role, or that person had poor acting skills. Whether you are Chinese or not, whether you are watching a Chinese or Hollywood movie, comments are made about what aspect is good and what aspect is bad. And as a public person he gets sometimes fair and sometimes unfair criticism. I was originally only trying to correct the factual point that his Mandarin wasn't being criticised and has never been criticised

Edited to add: deLivery of lines isn't only in the acting sense but making sure you speak clearly so the audience can hear what has been said. Im only trying to explain what was the actual criticism made and the Chinese perspective on it which I see international viewers don't want to hear.

Sorry what's the difference between accent and Mandarin? Genuine question, not trying to be sarcastic. But accent affects enunciation? There's nothing wrong with his Mandarin?

I must admit I haven't seen any Chinese articles online attacking his Mandarin but have seen many about his line delivery not being clear.

Actually the first comment said people criticised his Mandarin. I was explaining nobody ever commented on his Mandarin but his enunciation .

I think what's sad is you automatically went on the defence, interpreted that as invalid criticismand put words in my mouth that he doesn't deserve to be on national day. And it's sad I'm still continuing this conversation

I'm not intending to attack him. He is hardworking and dedicated and famous in his own right. I also enjoy watching this dramas and his appearances in certain dramas. But objectively I do find his enunciation unclear at times. I'm not saying that means he doesn't deserve to be performing on national day etc. I'm just stating an objective fact.

I often refer to lyrics as I don't always hear what is being sung or rapped. But to me music is not just the words but the melody. For dramas it is more important to me to understand what is being said

Yes it is. Esp If it's delivered super fast.

I find some actors don't deliver their lines clearly. Once I get used to their voices it becomes easier to understand but I still need to refer to Chinese subs occasionally.

I think it's hard to strike a balance. I agree that local dialects need to be preserved, but also for a big country you need a national language so you can communicate with anyone in the country

The problem isn't with his Mandarin and his Mandarin is fine. The issue is with his delivery of lines . when he speaks his voice can be mumbly which makes it difficult to understsnd. it's an objective and legitimate observation from a Chinese perspective and I just read the Chinese subtitles when his enunciation isn't clear

Edited to.add: as far as I'm aware he has never faced any criticism from Chinese viewers for his Mandarin being poor but only for his line delivery

Title Under the Skin Season 2 Spoiler
Theories on last scene
1) fake SY either had a) plastic surgery b) twin , c) someone made a mask of SY's face (similar to one of the crimes on s1) or d) DC was hallucinating

2) the whole thing is a dream or a metaphor for something that will happen on season 3. If we rmb the ending for s1 it showed someone entering SY's house and ripping open a portrait to see a creepy pic underneath. That didn't actually happen but ripping open a portrait and another painting underneath was an important part of s2 and getting fang yikai to confess. So the last scene is a metaphor for what DC fears: the SY of the past choosing one path but the real SY who turns the corner and misses DC in the alley, symbolising SY making the right choice. (Or maybe a metaphor that in s3 if there is one will show SY needing to make a choice)

Title Under the Skin Season 2 Spoiler
Did anyone notice the blackboard scene in 2nd last scene?
Each character was drawn with their "genetic weakness/defect" so to speak. Li Han was drawn chubby, Jiang Feng was bald, DC with vitamin B bottle. But SY's I can't tell what his deficiency was. And he deliberately glossed over when asked. Either he's smiling happily so he has perfect genes or it*s a murderous smile and he's a psycho?

Maybe it's just a metaphor for SY choosing the right path for s3 (given u see fake ML.walk one direction and ML walk the other direction in that scene)

The reason I'm saying it might not be real is at the end of s1 we saw someone breaking into SY house and ripping open a portrait that had a creepy one underneath. That specific event didn't happen in s2 but we did see something similar with fang kai yi in the last ep.

So maybe s2 ending scene is also a hint of something that may happen on s3 I.e. SY choosing the right path, esp given fake SY was given the appearance of the SY of the past

Yes I realise that but I was replying to the point that SY was nearby so DC will be saved to say that SY walked past the alley so it's not a definite save

The fact he was no longer top billed also made me suspect be was being killed off. But I quite like the visiting lu hai zhou from central police bureau. Would love to see More of him and a potential replacement I could live with
