Why can't all chinese directors and screenwriters give my Cheng Yi a happy end(one where he doesn't die fulfilling the mission of making evryone happy) can't the drama end with him smiling happily(alive, I mean). We all feel sad for him and the character after the drama but let it change.
This same thing happened to Liu Yuning in MJTL but at least changed in Prisoner of Beauty.

Thank you. She forgot the fact her own brother started it, wanting to kill Fan Xia. Initially Fan Xia intended to kill her Bro himself but Wu Zhu helped him out. It's understandable she felt the loss again after finding out, but saying she was disappointed in Fan Xia pissed me off... she immediately had that weak FL attitude there and was very annoying. For me his love life was just an addition, actually it can be done without but since it's included what can anyone do.

He did, but the end of season 2 seems like a cliffhanger

Though i like the fl... but it wouldn't have been bad if the fl had been the saintess.
One reason i like this fl is because, she is not weak. She's smart and can be of help to Fan Xian, though i would still prefer saintess but this one's can do the job still

Totally agree.... because Qing Tong always said she wanted to go on a journey with Fugui and then all of a sudden her brother had dark powers and kidnapped her. For me, she stayed with Fugui for a long time and he though her his way of the sword and yet she could not break free... for me... since she was kidnapped by her brother... her character became weak. I'm happy I have seen her in DWAD, so i know that she's a good actress but the two Leads had a poorly written character

Exactly, the romance was just so poor.... it would have been best writing Fugui as someone that needed companionship from friends and family, not a romantic companionship. Fugui does not think about qingtong with sparks in his eyes... Qing Tong feels like she owes Fugui since he spared her life.... there shouldn't have indicated a romance. Like The Immortal Ascension.... the ML had a lot of girls loving him but he repeatedly refused saying he has a lot of improvements and accomplishments to make.... did he desire friendship? Yes! Did he want a romantic one as at the time? No! Why? Because it was not yet time to incorporate romance to the story. May when a S2 is released he can build romance but for S1 it doesn't fit the script. And i think this is what the script writer for Sword and Beloved missed. A story must not always be about romance.

I will use this opportunity to recommend a kdrama (The Secret Royal Inspector and Jo yi)

Personally, I think the script was badly written, and the Main role characters were so badly written. Now, if it's a movie that the male lead does not want to have any emotions and romance towards women, then it should have been written like that, we will then know that the ML is focused on his cultivation come rain come sun.

But when you potray the male lead and FL in a romance light, then what doe you expect the viewers to think? Portraying them in a romance light and not even giving it life. Two people in love or in crush, don't even express their feelings, apart from the time before getting her human form... they were not seen together anymore.... why?? The love was so dry that even agape love towards friends can never be like that.

The script writer should have turned the romance into the love of a parent... from where the father was captured by his brother.. the father-son love and bond should have started there.

And they made Cheng Yi act a badly written character.... if i hadn't seen love and redemption and MLCB... I would have said Cheng Yi was a bad actor but no he isn't

Exactly, if only he had given enough love to his son. Like Fugui said in ep14, he told Qing Tong, he would have gottwn that far without her (though it was better with her). It just shows that, he doesn't yearn much for romantic love but for love from his own kin (father here). That love would have made him much stronger, and that his what his mother wanted for him. But, the father after loosing his wife felt that, love makes people weak and that if he wasn't so much in love, he would have been able to save his wife. So instead, transferred that trauma to his son, unknowingly helping the prophecy to be activated.

Sword and Belived is a line uo from FSM, S&B is the part 3, which continues the story of LIP.
Now I wonder how Hong Ye became so cold, though looking back, Hong Ye was actually strict back then, he became less strict due to his relationship with Huai Zhu. Following her death, the love disappears and he inwards blames his son for her death and so brought him up as a total stranger and came up with the idea that love is weak and Fugui should give no time to compassion.

I think, everything he tells his son, is a subtle reminder to himself. Saying i should have done things this way or that, but still, his beloved wouldn't want him to bring up their son without the warmth of family or bonds of relationship.

That is the essence of the drama. Most cultivation drama or fantasy CD, the ML are unique, have very rare talent... like Dashing Youth (was a good one too). But this drama is telling the story of how someone, though from a weak background, can make a huge break through in the cultivation world. All cultivtaors have artifacts and elixirs they use against theri opponents. You think he is weak because he uses those artifacts, but if you keep going, you will find out that those artifacts work well in their full potential when the master has enough power to wield them.
Though he had a fake spirit root, he was the best. The drama does not only focus on cultivation, it focuses on how the cultivator can also make use of their surroundings, there were many cultivators better than him at certain stages, but he was smarter. That differentiated him from others, he knows how to pay attention to detail.
