I rally dont know why he came to hate the LI family? Because LZ finally decided to make ink? Because she did better than him? His hate does not really have a core
Sometimes when i watch these historical dramas, there’s a lot of romance, not against that, the romnace helps to relate with the drama too (the flow) but ehen romance is slow or not even yet in play, we are left with the script itself.
Definitely, the mischievousness, wickedness of fourth aunt was too much, at every turn, she caused disaster, this is actually known to LZ and most especially zÅmÅ, who aided and abetted her hideous character, just because her son died 6months after marriage to 4th aunt. Fourth aunt has been greedy from the start, trying to sow discord from the start, driving her husband to offer tribute ink with his brothers. Is fourth aunt the cause of the LI family downfall? No. Is fourth aunt the cause of her husband's death? No. Is she a factor? A big yes, she wanted her husband to show the elders that he is capable. But her tricks and immature underhanded plots against LZ was too much, even at her detriment... she'd still do them. Yes, fourth aunts wicked plots became repetitive, which is annoying to all.. but from my view point, the script wanted to show us, how low, pathetic, and pitiful her life was, in that hatred for LZ was her own resentment for actually playing a role in her husband's death, she could not open up about what she had done and channelled it to the eight branch and it grew to hatred instantly. The script wants to show us, how her life really hit rock bottom. So, patience should be put first whenever we see wicked plots from fourth aunt.
Because of the overly slow romance (mind you, LZ likes LWQ already and she knows he likes her, it's just that for now, they've not escalated it yet) we think the script is not good in general?
Let's take a look at LWQ, the script has shown us that he is handsome, smart, and for now only surviving relative of the Luo Family, he also has a male servant. But in all these, the script has told us that, though LWQ is good for knowing businesses to invest in, he never made a strong revenge plan. I can bodly say that his revenge plan again Tian family backfired on him. For someone that wants to carry out revenge for his family, i think his steps were nit thought through, the script has shown us that he too hit rock bottom, but has also immensely grown in wisdom from associating with LZ because that his foster sister did nothing for him (from my view point), he should be able to make better decisions and plans now.
For the next episodes, we will see Ronghua character displayed, she was a good friend to Zhen in Huizhou, but I think Ronghua is going to cause some troubles for LZ, it might be indirect but nevertheless.
We will also see a little more affection between LZ and LWQ (it should be more.. lol)
But in all, the drama is not entirely based on romance, the story is a typical historical drama, telling about ink, ink production, and how important it was then, yes, some of these tricks are old and annoying but let's bear them because more will come soon. Don’t drop the drama on account of the tricks, it's a good story line.
We also saw LWS grand aunt (ugly granny), this prolly means there's hope of the 3 of them surviving? We can only wait for more episodes

Yes, in tbis drama, same as others that are similar like you mentioned... it's business and the story of the character before romance. That romance? We will all get it at one point of this drama... we will get enough.... right now the characters are still building... remember, LZ told ML that she prefers to be business partners than friends, that she always wants a clear professional line drawn.... so it's a gradual process and I think the script writer tried a lot in building the characters to be a bit realistic
I think we should always look at dramas, movies, as real life happening inside a TV.... because sometimes and most times in real life.... we go over the same thing over and over....
I think, its a good script so far, only thing I don't want to see are cliche lines like... "you've got talent, and can fight for yourself and I've only had a family that sees me as an object of connection"... once i see these... then i will just classify it like every other cdrama
