Wow, since you've watched that far, how is the plot? Ignoring all the romance, are the mysteries surrounding the FL's identity, her royal brother, etc interesting? I just watched episode 13 and it seems like the plot is finally thickening.
Is it just me or is Wu You extremely annoying and the main leads have no chemistry together? I don't buy how the FL is falling for Wu You when he's so controlling and possessive! I'm only at episode 12, and it's getting harder and harder for me to continue this drama. On one hand, I want to know the FL's true identity and her relation to her royal brother. But on the other, seeing her scenes with Wu You are so infuriating!!
The last few episodes were an editing mess, my whole experience with this drama could have been so much better...…
So... did Zhao Yao "kill" Chen Lan? What was all that with the 5 year skip and about Zhao Yao waiting for Chen Lan? So when he fell into that abyss in the cave, he survived and started to meditate to get rid of the "evil power" he's controlled by?

I'm a huge fan of the romance genre so I tend to skip dramas without much romance in it. Then I chanced upon The Fiery Priest, which had quite an interesting sypnosis. I decided to give this one a try and am SO GLAD for my decision!!! It was such a great stress relief from university :) Another main reason I decided to watch this was because of Kim Nam Gil. As expected, his acting was AMAZING! I started for Kim Nam Gil but finished it for ALL the amazing side characters!! Waiting for season 2!! Please let the casts be the same~
S1 was so good!! Comedy and characters were all on point!! And Kim Nam Gil's acting??? FIRE!!!!! Honestly the best I've watched in 2019 :) Can't wait for S2!!!! The casts better stay the same!!
YANG SE JONG AND WOO DO HWAN????? oh my god I'm excited but also afraid because I don't want to see any of them become a second male lead!!!! NOOOO!!!! But also... Jang Hyuk as Lee Bang Won? As in THE king? Lee Bang Won? Reminds me of Yoo Ah In as Lee Bang Won in Six Flying Dragons!! Well,,, you can tell how good Six Flying Dragons was if you can still remember the character name from a drama from 4 years ago... It was truly a great historical drama.. anyway I can't wait for this!!!!!

Yes its definitely gripping I agree but perhaps its just a bit darker than expected. I guess its unfathomable for me because ive yet to really like the male leads to actually sympathise with their actions. For other dramas, Ive only gotten used to liking a lead first, then watch on with sad eyes as the lead goes down a dark path, not the other way around with this drama. Thanks for your input. Ill give it a try when im emotionally ready for more angst!
I'm at episode 10 rn... the amount of angst is no joke. I honestly cannot think of a scenario where I will EVER support both the MLs after what they did to the FL. Please tell me the ending goes along the lines of the FL getting her revenge (or just coming to terms/a peaceful settlement with everything) and those MLs GET OUT of her life???
At people thinking this drama was too slow -- this drama, and dramas with similar pacing just isn't for you. At people comparing this to the movie (which I did not watch) -- you're watching this drama with some bias already in mind, which I could see how it would affect your views and expectations of this drama.
As for me, watching this without any expectations, I can fully say that I enjoyed this so much. It wasn't slow at all to me. In fact, it was nicely spaced out and did not drag. I'm particularly critical about dramas that drag out periods of negativity and I'm glad to say that Beauty Inside never did that. I find the story beautiful how it portrays each character and their struggles, and how they overcome them. I also appreciated how the drama also gave the side characters some spotlight. I love the relationships of the characters in this drama, between the 3 bestfriends, between the lead couple, between the side couple, between Do Jae and his secretary, Do Jae with his family, etc. And need I say anything about the acting? It was stellar! I'm glad this drama chose its actors and actresses right. They fit their roles perfectly :) This is the first drama I've really enjoyed from JTBC. I'm glad smaller channels are finally getting their game on!
I agree with everything in the 'amazing love and chemistry' section... After watching Ashes of Love, I really need another historical drama with Deng Lun as the main lead in it
