I'm really trying to hold on strong to the possibility of watching this, plus character development was guaranteed…
Episode 26 is the turning point because they finally talked. Watching how she puts her new commitment into play (with probably a few stumbles) should be the ending steps of her arc. The real test is coming when the second leads relationship gets revealed. I bet she’ll falter at first and than become their biggest champion. Which she would have been incapable of in the past with her traditionalist values towards divorce.
So ML still need the hotel that FL has now, he need a plan to acquire this, i smell a break up soon. I hope he…
His boss set a goal but it doesnt look like the ML is pursuing it. Im guessing when he said to He Dong he’ll handle it that means anything but the merger. Getting a new job. Finding a different more profitable opportunity for the group. Taking down Ms. Zhang or Amber.
MCH brother: "In this family, I'm not important, When I was young, you sent me back to our hometown. You didn't…
He knows why intellectually. But that feeling of abandonment was formed too young and it was only him and not his clearly favored sister. Plus his mom’s never recognized it or supported him in ways that made him feel like he was valued. He said it in the episode where he found the toy drawer. He was quiet cause he was scared theyd send him back. The drama has shown he’s always accepting of lesser treatment and never usually asks for more because he thinks he’ll lose what little love he has if he asks for more. The boy has slept on a cot in a corner well into his 20s. The fact he got mad and demanded better consideration is a good sign. It both means he’s reached his limit and he also has some hope subconsciously his mom will care. People dont fight with family they dont have expectations of.
Of course the scriptwriters couldn't live without shoehorning iq dropping shrill, clingy wannabe 2 or is it 3…
I like that she and her mom are foils for the FL and her mom. That being said I need her to have a carefully written growth arc soon. Cause she is annoying as of right now.
Ep1 - I started this with so much enthusiasm and it made me dizzy in the first 17 minutes, it probably will improve…
It takes those tropes and adds a level of complexity and heart I havent seen in many other dramas. ML is way different and more grounded than he initially appears. And mom has a sort of late life coming of age arc all her own. That being said mom is still very slowly evolving as of most recent episodes so probably a good call to spare your sanity a character you dont like.
Anyone watching this? How is the drama so far? Enough romance? Annoying second lead? Any misunderstanding?
Yes. Brilliant. Slow burn but satisfying. Every character has growth and an arc so none have annoyed me. The FL is clever and the two leads communicate at a pace that is reasonable with no forced misunderstandings.
What did grandma mean that he (MCH's father) should love his wife more? Is she faulting him? Then grandma tells…
No, I didn’t read that as fault. I read that as she recognizes the mom is actually deeply insecure and was encouraging him to support and love her w/o leaving her alone. Meanwhile she was telling mom to worry less. Every bad decision mom has made stemmed from her fears and anxieties that she tries to control by fixating on wealth, outside approval and her daughter’s life which she wants to be “perfect” unlike her own.
Do you recommend me to watch this cause I dont know if i should mostly cause of the mother
I get your perspective. I dont share it. But it is valid. Thus why I advised Shahd to assess if they wanted to watch by keeping in mind the type of behavior that triggers them.
Im looking forward to episode 28 where it looks like mom will finally hear her daughter's perspective. They’ve been building the whole show long to this moment.
The food poisoning incident sets up everything to look suspicious. Plus how else could the writer get ML to show up without giving him plot breaking FL in danger sense?

For mom: her background is super poor, something she’s insecure about and she’s struggled without the privilege to have personal ambitions. She’s so use to being weak that she relies on those who are stronger. In lots of ways. She’s invested all her energy into saving her daughter from that kind of life-for herself and her daughter. In her mind a rich husband is a strong foundation to keep her daughter and the rest of their family safe. She thinks that is her daughter’s best choice. This leaves her open to being manipulated into planning an engagement banquet w/o her daughter’s consent.
Meanwhile the sister has learned a lot of things including that her father respects the FL. So after destroying it, making the marriage happen becomes her priority to safeguard her family’s benefits.
What is hilarious is they are both wrong but thought the FL and ex-bf would be happy cause they love each other. They thought it was a win-win. Thats the final straw for the FL.
