A Bold, Hilarious, and Unforgettable Experience
This drama isn't just entertaining—it’s brilliantly written, with a concept that feels fresh and wildly creative. The story starts with a struggling screenwriter, Chen Xiaoqian, who gets transported into her own script and into the role of a side character who was supposed to die early. But instead of fading out, she takes charge of her fate as Chen Qianqian, rewriting her own story in the matriarchal city of Huayuan where women hold the power. What sets this drama apart is its meta-awareness and social commentary. It playfully flips gender norms while also poking fun at cliché plot devices, but does it without being preachy. You get clever dialogue, fast pacing, and a mix of romance, politics, and comedy that stays engaging all the way through.
Zhao Lusi delivers a phenomenal performance. Qianqian is sharp, unpredictable, and unapologetically chaotic—but also incredibly sincere and lovable. She brings so much personality to the role, balancing comedy and emotion effortlessly. Ding Yuxi’s (Han Shuo) is her perfect match—scheming, cold, and calculating at first, but slowly unraveling as he falls for her. Their chemistry is explosive, full of sassy arguments, unexpected tenderness, and intense loyalty.
The secondary characters are not forgotten either—Pei Heng, Su Ziying, and Princess Chuchu each add depth and tension, while the political subplots keep things interesting beyond just the love story. Even minor scenes are memorable (like Qianqian tricking her way out of death multiple times or Han Shuo constantly being one step behind her antics).
The ending ties everything together in a deeply satisfying way, with emotional payoff and a twist that actually makes sense—a rare thing in time-travel/fantasy romances. It leaves you thinking about fate, storytelling, and the power of choosing your own path.
This drama is the perfect blend of brains, heart, and charm. If I could, I’d give it more than 10 stars. 🐯🌹✨
