I can't figure out what's going on. I'm halfway through ep 2 and I can't figure out if there's a plot. Help?
It's episodic type. One story per episode or two. The only continuity is character development.
A serial series is one where there is an overaching plot for the entire season, and there's a new one in the next season.
The serial type is more common in Asian TV series. Episodic is not because it looks like watching a variety show without the comedy. Or, a comedy show like "Friends" where all you have is character development.
Also, episodic is not easy to pull in a TV format. It's more common in magazines, that little part at some page with a different short story every publication. Usually sitcoms and children shows are purely episodic. Star Trek, and other sci-fi shows, are primarily episodic in the first half of the season, then serial in the latter half of the season.
In Japan, many popular mangas started as an episodic type in magazines. Then it became popular they turned it into a series type. Then it became even more popular they compiled it as a manga or light novel.
The "Hospital Play-" franchise is episodic. It's like "Friends" or sitcom with a focus on life, relationships, and character development. It's meant for a casual watching, not marathon/binge.
As much as it is disappointing that a reality show decided to make it "fictional" after getting hit by reality…
I'm going to continue watching because I'm watching for the people and their relationships. I like observing people. I like analyzing everything.
Besides, it's a reality show. Whatever they're showing today, weeks after the taping was over, that's part of who they are. There is no "reality tv" and "real-life reality". There is only one reality.
If you now hate whoever, it's part of who you are. You have your own preferences too. That's fine. Just like how it is fine if they suddenly revealed a new side of themselves that you don't like.
Reality tv? Real-life reality? They're one and the same. The former is simply more subdued because of TV regulations that must be followed while the latter is less controlled (especially if it is not handled by a manager or agency).
They spoke out because they reached their limit. Maybe they judged someone too quickly. Or, one of them is a manipulator type. Point is, like you, they have preferences too. Whatever pushed them to go post publicly don't mean they are less of a person than yourself.
Maybe you don't like who they are, that's fine. Maybe they were wrong, if proof is later revealed so, then how they handle it will further reveal what type of person they are.
We humans are complex beings. You can never place a single person in one category and then claim this and that.
And that's why I love to observe and analyze humanity. That's why I'll continue to watch.
As much as it is disappointing that a reality show decided to make it "fictional" after getting hit by reality (too, ironic) by removing the air time of someone β¦
β¦ at the end of the day this is their culture and industry.
Their target market is South Korea and the Korean diaspora. Not you, not me, not a single non-Korean, not other countries.
In other words, if you want to continue watching, then watch. If you want to drop it, then drop it. You're free to express your opinions and share your feedback but (1) don't invade someone else's thread; and (2) we are not the target market.
Besides, would you listen to the opinions of foreigners when they say something about your own culture? Most more likely won't. It's an internal affair. A "family" issue.
Watch if you want to watch. Drop it if you want to drop it. Say your opinions of support or why you're dropping it, and end it there because we are not their target market, we're just going to make ourselves angry for no reason.
Let the Koreans deal with their own issues. Don't be like Trump, or some of the Western cultures, who loves to meddle with other cultures and forcing others to accept their ways.
Was she not talking about sitting down?! I did see the couple and I thought the drama was gonna make it seem like…
> so what did she mean?!
Sit down. π
My ex and I had a similar moment. In Filipino conversation something similar to the play on words in thise scenes can also happen.
We're already together but we liked to make jokes and being vague. π So when I grabbed her too, she tried to push me away (she didn't like public display of affection), and asked me "What are you doing?"
"You said you want to do the same?x
"I was talking about sitting because we've been standing waiting for the bus for a long time!"

Don't think about it too much. As I've said in an earlier comment, the love triangle is only to push their relationship…
True!
I guess they saw the ML as being slow?
But he wasn't. He's just being careful, and wants to be sure of his own feelings. Especially if they're living together like that and are siblings-in-law, so easy to confuse your feelings and potentially hurt each other.
The side-effect, he got too much into it, he kept dismissing his feelings. π
But, "slow", I doubt. I guess many just didn't understand his character.
And the FL. She's sure about her feelings and is ready to dive all in. For her, it's him or she'll die single. π
is it only me who don't find Anaesthetist attractive and I don't want them to be together she looks good with…
Don't think about it too much. As I've said in an earlier comment, the love triangle is only to push their relationship forward. It's a literary device to help the 1ML and 1FL. Nothing will come from it. They'll probably end it immediately.
I am so sad! Only two weeks left! They have the best mix of characters I've seen on small and big screens since 2020! The actors all did well, it was as if they actually filmed a documentary. No one's underperforming or overperforming. They all understood their characters and brought it to life naturally.
What I especially love is the humanity. They accept each other's differences and work to meet half-way to form a harmonious relationship. The kind of bond humanity needs. No secret agendas. No work politics. No upending each other. No greed.
The four original members, time to teach a new generation of RM. π And maybe, just maybe, we can go back to the physically demanding games RM became known for. π
I mean, let's be honest, simple mission games and constantly eating has its limits. You got lucky Yeeun joined, and she and her agency were fine with her being a regular. (That practically took out her time from honing her acting and getting acting projects.)
I'm one of those who can honestly say that recently, I'm excited for the next episode because of Yeeun. Prior to that, I sometimes forget and watch 2 to 3 episodes in a week. But since Yeeun regularly appeared, I've never missed.
However, you can't rely on Yeeun. She's the youngest and she even made the mistake to mention "burned out". While she shouldn't have, you should take it as a sign that she's feeling the immense pressure placed on her shoulders to keep the show fresh and afloat. You yourselves kept on repeating it, how Yeeun revived the show. How she made it funnier again.
If you're repeatedly saying that every week, it means that you yourselves have identified that RM is losing it's touch gradually.
We know and we understand that you're getting older. That's fine. It's part of life. That's why it's time to find "The Next Generation" (to borrow from Star Trek) and teach them. So one day, you can exit RM proud and at ease that you're leaving it in good hands.
It's fine to have eating episodes and all these easy challenges. But that's not what RM became known for. It's no longer balanced. It tipped to the easy and simple side. To a point that at times it's just a recycle of the previous year's easy and simple challenges.
And it's obvious that you're feeling the pressure to innovate.
Sooner or later, you'll exit RM. But you won't be able to train those who will take on your mantle by then. So, why wait when you can do it today, now? Don't you want to pass on the mantle to capable NextGen?
I did not expect them to play the love triangle trope just to push brother-in-law to assess his feelings for her.
And don't blame him. When you live together, it's easy to confuse your feelings, so you end up being careful especially if you're the type who analyse things. He isn't slow, he's just being careful. He doesn't want to give her false hope, or for them to later break-up because they learned they're not meant for each other.
But, yes, it can also become an over-analyzation and overtly careful that you paralyze yourself with it.
So, they're playing a potential love triangle to shove Mr. brother-in-law to "wake up" and make a decision already because he's starting to paralyze himself with being too careful. After all, love is risky no matter what. It is not about avoiding hurting each other, it is about what the two of you will do and how far you're both willing to go for each other, despite all the ups and downs, happiness and pain, along the way.
The cast is getting too old. I miss the old games they used to play. I only watch when there is a good guest now.
Yep. I think what they're doing with their guests is secretly looking for people who.can replace them one-by-one. See how fans react. See if they can keep up and bring something new. Handle the sudden popularity. π Get trained as well.
Sooner or later, the cast will leave one after another. They can't just replace them suddenly. So I think they're using this hired guesting, and weekly random guests, to feel everyone out.
Sadly, the ones fans want to see are busy actors already, and can't go full-time on RM. We had a lot of those guests that really fits RM.
I don't think it's a natural weight loss. She probably took some shots or something. She can't lose this much…
Ahh! I guess South Korea really has a more advance and safer methods.
I assumed she did a low-fat diet with fruits and veggies, while doing light excercises. Maybe even fasting. But still, yes, it's too fast and it was a lot of weight, can't be natural only.

Next week's episode, 752, appears to be part original RM. They already filmed it before I wrote my feedback above.
Balance of easy and physical challenges + young blood + training potential "Next Generation" = RM will survive for the next 20 years.
If they're no longer up to the physical challenges, they can let the NextGen represent them, in the process training them.
Sit down. π

There's no other option other than ML+FL.

Unless it was the Roman Empire era method? Forced p*king? Hehe.
Though, it's understandable if she's not sharing, even lipo has so much stereotype and prejudice that comes with it, and we've had it for years now.
Though I've completely forgotten it because E02 was too hilarious. π€£
