I thought that 40 episodes rule only applied for dramas airing on tv.

Lol anyway I am glad they break the rules a bit, we would not get some true gems of dramas if they weren't broken.

I am glad to see him getting a new role but also when are we getting Kingdom season 3 or at the special spin off based on the crown prince.

Great article. It was really interesting to read about how the Chinese drama landscape changed and I also learnt a lot of new facts. Crime dramas being banned during prime time was a surprise to me. Although many things that seem to have been seemingly banned always seem to appear in new forms as the producers of dramas find loopholes, for example time travel dramas. I thought it was banned until Joy of Life was released and following that many new dramas with elements of time travel have been released.

I too would love to see him portray a role like Chen Kun's character in ROP. At the same time, I would like to see him take on a republican drama cause that is a genre that he hasn't tried before.

I just realised Meng Ziyi is in this too. I was planning on watching this for Yang Zi but guess this gives me a double reason to watch. I just hope that this drama and the longest promise don't air at the same time. I can't watch two xianxia dramas at the same time.

Is July 5th airing date confirmed?

As I can remember, the 50 episodes was never confirmed and instead used as a placeholder value. If they had actually filmed 50 episodes, there is a chance that we might get all the episodes since the longest promise seems to be classified as a platform drama and the 40 episode rule applies to dramas that only air on TV. Therefore hopefully we get most of the episodes with a little bit of cutting involved since almost every chinese production goes through scene cutting.

Can someone who watched this tell me which episode Zhu Yan appears in. I am waiting to watch the Longest Promise which tells the story of Zhu Yan in her youth and I am curious to see how they portrayed an older version of Zhu Yan here.

Oh I see, in that case if they do show Su Mo. They might show him as a kid. Btw you said they showed Zhu Yan in mirror twin cities, do u remember which episode she appears in. I would like to see how they portrayed an older Zhu Yan.

Was Sumo Zhu Yan's grandson or something like that. I haven't watched Mirror Twin so my apologies if I am wrong.
