This is a period drama. Usually they caster older actors and actresses. In fact this drama having casted younger actors is unusual. If you check other period dramas most of the actors are in their 40s.

Anyone knows the name of the actor who plays Xiao Chunsheng's father. I am surpised that the supprting cast list is not updated as usually it is.

The drama is a period drama set in the 70s. Many people wore the same clothes during this time.

Agree. I have watched quite a few dramas of hers but I think her charatcer here is one of her best. She doesn't need to say anything to bring out tong xiaomei's dignified and kind character out. I especially like her shy smiles. I finished upto episode 8 and I think more viewers will appreciate her characer a lot.

The music in the drama is excellant. The osts are very soothing and am glad they went with an instrumental opening which ai think is rare in cdramas
Thank you for providing all this historical context to the drama. But could i also pls ask if you could also make a discussion thread above and add all the historical context there as well. It would also be easier for new watchers to understand as comments tend to get lost especially when you have to scroll a lot.

Btw is there a bug in MDL? Shouldn't this show appear under the currently airing shows? Also did the number of watchers increase?

It is pretty good so far. Really beautiful cinematography which immerses you into 70s china. And so far the script and acting has been good.

Yes. I did catch that and I wondered ablut it. It is interesting to get a glance at the situation during this time although I wish someone would start a discussion mentioning the historical context for this drama.

Could be because all the drifters and hooligans are found there and they need the police to maintain order.

I finished the first 2 episodes. I love Chunsheng's character, mischiveous but still mature enough. The friendship between Chunsheng and Ye Guo Hua is fun to watch. Not too enthusiastic about the possible love triangle but hopefully it gets resolved soon.

They atually did do promotion. WeTV posted about it on their twitter, instagram and weibo accounts. And there was page for WDB on the tencent chinese app as well.
