Regarding people calling the female lead annoying. This is my opinion but I feel that her character will improve. Besides part of the reason why her character is shown like that is because of her up bringing. She grew up the spoiled princess of the Crimson clan. She might be extremely impuslive and run her mouth off but it could be a defense mechanism against other disciples who come from better backgrounds than hers. The other disciples mention that Crimson clan is lacking educational resources hence her unwillingess to learn. But once Shi ying points it out, she accepts it and is shown to be willing to learn. This for me shows charatcer growth. Accepting your faults and be willing to learn. The story is based on a master disciple relationship, the drama not only focuses on the budding romace but also the true aspect of a master disciple relationship which is teaching and learning. If the drama showed both the master and disciple being perfect, there would be just a cold faced love plot.

The last 2 episodes were the best. The introduction of more supporting roles and Shi ying coronation was so good. I loved the flower bridge scene. Shiying looking at Zhu Yan talking looks so gentle (AHHH my heart). I want to see their relationship grow, give me some more sweetness before the angst. Zhu Yan is also growing on me. She maybe immature but she is kind and knows how to be grateful. I also want a chatterbox Zhu Yan to keep me company.

I am really liking how clearly defined the politics in the drama and the characters's clans are well shown. Instead of using a voiceover at the beginning, the drama uses the characters to show the different clans and to show the status of the mermans/ shark people in Kongsang.

And here was me thinking that I was actually getting to see Han Dong in a non villain role. He is really committed to playing villain roles.

I thought that happened because he dropped the umbrella. Well if he turns into a gerbil everytime a girl touches him, it is gooing to cause some interesting problems. So the scene from episode 1 is somwthing that will be revisited later. I personally think they put it in to show the properties of the jade bone hairpin. It is somethinv that happens after Shiying and Zhu yan become master and disciple. Also the show is taking place on earth in a kingdom called Kongsang.

I agree. That part especially a pregnant woman being so ready to lay down her life didn't make much sense. Unless they show us the fetus was unstable or that her death was an illusion.

From what I understood was that master made changes to his fate to hide Shi ying using astrological signs. At the same time Zhu Yan also performed sacrificial rites for him. You can't perform sacrifical rites for a living person. This interfered with the astrological signs an ddistorted the changes therefore shiying must avoid Zhu Yan at all costs becuase she is the one destined to reveal him thereby causing him calamity.

I am waiting to find out that either the mermaid concubine baby was unstable so that's why she decided to do the trap and frame shiying or that they faked her death.
